Chapter 739: A Bit Late

"Leon, quick!" Leo immediately called out.

Kaelion immediately summoned the Skyreaver as it appeared in the sky the next moment, already descending toward their territory.

They were more than 1,000 kilometres from the central gate, and the dragons had established their base right beside it.

This put them at a disadvantage, as the dragons could start dealing damage much earlier than they could.

And even though Leo was stronger, that didn’t necessarily mean he could deal more damage than 10 four-star beings when Aurelius’s maximum fighting force consisted of three-star beings.

"I guess they have an advantage in being able to establish their base at such a daring location, like the central mountain!" Fruder remarked.

Leo had everyone climb onto the Skyreaver, as there was no point in keeping anyone behind. Even the alchemists could create more explosives once they reached their destination. For that reason, Leo had already stored all the alchemy equipment in his spiritual space.

Having personally fought an ancient savage beast himself, he knew just how long they could last.

The Skyreaver took off, and by the time they reached the central mountain, the dragons had already dealt 0.4% damage.

"What the hell..." Leo muttered, suddenly feeling that the savage beast might not be much of a threat if they could deal that much damage so quickly.

He was wrong.

It wasn’t that the ancient savage beast was weak. The problem was simply that the dragons’ attacks were far too powerful.

The moment they crossed the gate, the scene before them left everyone in shock.

Or rather, it was the enormous mountain that suddenly appeared before them.

As for the Ancient Savage Beast itself, it was colossal.

A gigantic turtle-like beast measuring nearly 5,000 meters in length and standing nearly 2,800 meters tall, it had an enormously thick body supported by four tower-like legs, each measuring between 2,000 and 2,200 meters in length.

Its massive shell, nearly 3,600 meters wide, was covered in layers of naturally growing metallic deposits, with jagged mineral formations protruding from its surface like miniature mountains, adding another 1,300 meters to its height.

It was practically a 4-kilometre-tall moving metal mountain.

Its dark, rocky hide seemed to constantly absorb minerals from the earth beneath its feet, while each of its feet was around 500–600 meters wide.

And its head? It was 800 meters long.

Right now, the dragons were bombarding the beast with flame-breath attacks from a particular angle, while Azrakar and Vorthak seemed to be casting their flame-meteor attacks—raining down large, raging fireballs on the beast’s back.

The dragons seemed to be going all out, without worrying about future reserves in case the Aurelius students started attacking them.

They weren’t worried because they knew breaking the rules might result in disqualification.

Yet, even after all those attacks, the funny thing was that the beast hadn’t even moved.

Oreback Behemoth (High 5-Star) — Super Bloodline

"What the fuck..." Marco was the first to break the silence.

The others remained quiet, their eyes just as wide, if not wider, as they stared at the colossal beast.

"I-is that thing made of metal...?" Fruder muttered.

Their earlier eagerness to reach the destination quickly and start dealing damage as soon as possible vanished the moment they saw the sheer scale of their target.

Not to mention, they were supposed to kill it.

Just thinking about how long it would take to kill this beast was enough to give Leo a headache.

But then, another thought crossed his mind.

What if I manage to land the last hit?

Leo couldn’t help but think about the massive amount of experience points he would gain. If a low 5-star beast gave him 500,000 experience points, then a High 5-star beast would surely provide him with more experience, and obviously allow him to level up.

Not to mention—

Wait... metal?

Leo’s eyes sharpened as he examined the colossal beast.

The ancient savage beast in front of him seemed to be producing metal from its own body. What if he fused its core with Howl?

Wouldn’t Howl’s [Metal Manipulation] transform into [Metal Generation & Manipulation], similar to [Earth Generation & Manipulation]?

Leo clenched his fists in excitement, but quickly calmed himself down.

Right now, his first priority was somehow landing the finishing blow. The beastcore could wait. He could always try bargaining with the Emperor for the beast’s core as a reward, especially since he had already shown how his talent worked.

If the Emperor agreed, Leo would know that the Emperor supported his growth and choose to relax in the Empire; if not, Leo would simply wait for the right moment to quietly leave the Empire’s boundaries.

"Leon! Take Aaron, Yano, Miho, Tavian, the alchemists, and the scouts to a safe location and set up a temporary base. I don’t think this beast will be killed within the next 10 days. We’ll need a proper place to rest."

Kaelion nodded, and the rest of the fighting force climbed onto Agnivar.

"Agnivar will drop you off at locations from where you can launch your attacks. You’d better focus on a single point and try to bore through the beast’s body rather than spreading your attacks everywhere. That way, everyone can watch each other’s backs in case the beast launches a surprise attack—"

Before Leo could finish speaking, the weapons everyone had strapped to their backs and waists began vibrating violently.

"Put them inside your spatial rings!" Leo immediately ordered as he put away his own sword and dagger.

He sharply turned toward the beast, which was still more than 2 kilometres away.

"Such a range..." he muttered.

"That thing isn’t even looking in our direction..." Uraan pointed out.

Now, even their weapons were useless. In other words, only elemental or brute physical attacks could deal any damage.

And even then, somehow, Leo knew that the rest of the top 10, apart from Kaelion, wouldn’t be able to do much.

"Wait..." Leo suddenly realised something.

"Fuck! I should have bought that [Meteor Apocalypse] artefact." He grimaced.

That thing might have actually dealt a tremendous amount of damage to this beast.

Even Fruder now understood why most artefacts seemed to have a minimum range of 5 kilometres.

It was to prepare them for battles against beasts like this 5-kilometre monster!

They had bought all their tools under the assumption that their only real challenge would be the students of Sunborn Royal Academy.

"Phew..." Leo breathed out.

"No worries... We have plenty of time..."

Thankfully, they still had a heavy-hitting trump card: the Pseudo 5-Star [Spirit Summon Card] of Vorthuun and, of course, the [Heaven’s Wrath] as a last resort.

Its fire-based attacks would undoubtedly deal heavy damage to this metal beast.

Outside, in the stadium, every audience were left speechless.

Meanwhile, the instructors, professors, and even the vice-principals of various academies chuckled jovially.

"Finally... These plebeians will understand what we have to deal with to keep their weak asses safe. And those fat fucks..." The professor was referring to the nobles living in the core and inner cities.

"Let’s see how arrogantly they act after this."

While the less-informed ones celebrated, the older and more experienced individuals remained silent, sighing in resignation.

"I guess we finally have an excuse to give when cities start disappearing..."
