Chapter 417: Chapter 417: This Girl Is Actually Bisexual (Part 5)

"These are for you! Don’t be shy. I enjoy watching other people eat more than eating myself!" As expected of President Chapman, she had a way with people. However, her little tricks were far from enough to handle *him*!

Nadia Chapman’s expression instantly fell. "This is all high-calorie food! Do you have no chivalry at all? If I eat all of this, I’ll get so fat! My face isn’t much to look at to begin with; if I can’t even keep my figure, I’ll be heartbroken! Can’t you just do your good deed for the day and take pity on me?"

"Are you jade?" Martin Quinn took a sip of his red wine, his deep voice, laced with a hint of amusement, was quite pleasant to the ear.

"You win!" Nadia Chapman gritted her pearly-white teeth, resisting the urge to bite him. She then turned her attention to the battle with the delicacies before her. ’It’s just a few cakes, so what? No big deal. Worst case, I just won’t sleep tonight and will exercise instead! These are desserts from the Stelluna Hotel, after all. I could never bring myself to pay for such exquisite sweets. Today, I’m going to eat until I get my money’s worth!’

She had thought finishing all these desserts would be a difficult task, since they were all so cloyingly sweet. But to her surprise, in less than half an hour, the entire table of exquisite sweets was nearly wiped out. After finishing, she even licked her lips. ’As expected from a seven-star hotel, the food is just amazing!’

"I’ve heard that eating dessert can help people forget their troubles and lift their spirits. Do you think that’s true?" Martin Quinn, who had been silent for some time, suddenly said. Nadia Chapman stared at him in shock, her mind going blank. ’What did he mean by that? Did he want to cheer me up, and that’s why he made me eat so many desserts? Was his question just now his way of asking if I’m in a better mood?’

’Or was he just making a casual remark with no other meaning, and I’m just letting my imagination run wild? Nadia Chapman truly felt like her IQ took a nosedive whenever she was around Martin Quinn.’

Nadia Chapman’s wide range of expressions amused Martin Quinn. He took out a room key card and placed it on the table. "Get some rest. All my capital is counting on you to manage it. Don’t let other matters delay the investments, otherwise the loss would be greater than the gain for me, wouldn’t it?"

Nadia Chapman froze again. ’He knows everything! He actually knows everything! He was even so thoughtful as to have a room key ready for her! If he didn’t know she was currently homeless, why else would he have booked a room in advance? He’s such a strange man!’

As Martin Quinn walked past her, he reached out and ruffled her hair. It was soft and felt nice, and on some strange impulse, he found himself saying, "Good night."

’This man is frighteningly perceptive. He knew everything that had happened to me!’ Nadia Chapman gazed at the black key card on the table, a warmth spreading through her heart. The lake of her heart, which had been still for so many years, began to ripple once more. ’Martin Quinn... he’s actually a pretty good guy. He may be sharp-tongued and awkward, always using lame excuses, but... he really does care about me! And that’s enough.’

「Life went on as usual.」

Back at the university, ever since Seraphina Sterling had slapped Shelby Fenton hard across the face in front of their classmates, that peacock had quieted down significantly. However, this newfound peace was limited to her no longer flaunting her wealth in front of Seraphina or mocking her for being a country bumpkin. Shelby Fenton was now focusing all her energy on winning people over and managing her flock of suitors.

College was an inherently liberating place, and even more so, a sacred ground for romance. Although Shelby Fenton wasn’t stunningly beautiful, she knew how to dress well. She understood how to play up her assets and hide her flaws, her style was fashionable, and she was always decked out in designer brands. With a decent natural foundation to work with, excellent makeup skills, and most importantly, a prominent family background, she naturally attracted a large number of suitors.
