Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Resounding Face-Slapping (5)

"I’ve reviewed the detailed records of the stock trading club’s major trading activities for the last two years! Let’s not even get into the other stuff. Just in this past year, out of six major trades, there were at least four where you all could have earned far more. However, because of the decision-maker’s greed, the team ended up suffering a massive loss. Sure, you still turned a profit, but you could have made so much more!"

Of course, one couldn’t deduce all of this from the activity logs alone. Even if they could, it wouldn’t be in such detail. The reason Seraphina Sterling knew all this was because she had also been active in the stock market a year ago and remembered some of the larger trades. Only by combining that knowledge with the club’s records could she produce such an accurate and thorough analysis.

Hugo Xavier’s expression turned even uglier. No one would be happy about being lectured, especially in a way that left no room for rebuttal. "You certainly make a compelling case, Sterling. You must have a wealth of trading experience, then? What are your thoughts on the recent stock market fluctuations?"

"It’s just a minor fluctuation driven by short-term business strategies. It won’t last long. Normally, something like this wouldn’t cause any major, market-wide instability."

Seraphina answered calmly. The recent market fluctuations were because nearly every jewelry company in Aethelgard was running a sale. These widespread promotions caused huge swings in the companies’ performances, which were reflected in their stock prices. The unusual volatility in the jewelry sector then affected related industries, causing many other stock prices to become unstable.

’Of course she wouldn’t pass up such a great opportunity. She could definitely make a killing from this!’

Hugo Xavier was startled. For a freshman to have such a precise read on the market was no small feat. ’Even our third-year members who’ve completed their specialized courses might not have such sharp judgment!’ he thought. "It seems you really are experienced. Once you join, how much capital can you commit to the club’s trading activities?"

"I don’t have any money to trade with!" Seraphina Sterling offered an impossibly innocent smile.

Huh—

Hugo Xavier froze. Clearly, he had not expected that answer. "Then why are you trying to join our club?"

"To learn and network, of course! If I had the money to invest in the stock market, I wouldn’t have needed to bother Nadia Chapman for a letter of recommendation! She already promised me that as long as I slowly gain experience in the club, I can go work directly at Apex Wealth Management when I graduate! You guys must need someone to keep records, right? I can do that. After all, you big shots don’t have time for such trivial matters!"

Seraphina Sterling seemed completely unaware that she was usurping the president’s role. She wasn’t even in the club yet, and she had already assigned herself a job!

Hugo Xavier stared up at the ceiling, utterly exasperated. If she didn’t have Nadia Chapman’s letter of recommendation, he would have thrown her out on the spot. ’Arrogant, conceited, and so full of herself!’ he fumed internally. ’She not only tore into me but also had the gall to lecture me! And then she assigned herself a job! I’ve never seen such a bizarre freshman in my life!’

Hugo Xavier sighed in resignation, swallowing his anger. "Fine. From now on, all the club’s record-keeping is your responsibility. You can go now!"

Seraphina Sterling left, quite satisfied. ’Universities are the cradles of talent,’ she mused, ’especially a place like Apex Premier Academy, which is just brimming with it. I’ll have to recruit future employees for my company from here!’

After coming out, Seraphina Sterling completed her membership paperwork with the help of a club member. Just as she finished, Shelby Fenton emerged from the second interview room. When Shelby Fenton saw Seraphina still standing there, a smug grin spread across her face. "What did I tell you? I’m already finished with my interview, and they probably haven’t even called you in yet! See? I was right, wasn’t I? I’d advise you not to wait around here. The sun’s so strong, you’ll get a terrible sunburn!"
