A Tale of Forgotten Gods
Chapter 154: The Death
Chapter 154: The Death
Three days later, on 18 November.
Silas had reached one of the continents, the Kemetia, where the night had fallen long ago, as the moon took the sun’s place.
He sat in a tropical forest, taking a break before going to the port of Delta Imperium. He ate a cooked fish that he bought from a shop. After taking a few long breaths, he stood to walk again.
Within a few minutes, he noticed a few crushed bones that were scattered around the forest as he followed the traces, but just as he stopped near a large tree, his breath caught in his throat as a sudden spiritual presence threatened to crush him.
Silas gripped the coat near his chest, his eyes turning bloodsoaked red as his gaze laid on an army of nearly fifty to sixty Ascenders.
A whole church... that was impossible. Why would they come here?
He looked through the tree, where he noticed a man standing there in the center. He was dressed in the manner of the Old Egyptian ruler, a crisp, bleach-white shendyt kilt wrapped tightly around his hips. Resting heavily upon his shoulders was a magnificent blue wesekh collar, a broad crescent of turquoise, carnelian and lapis lazuli beads.
Encircling his waist was a thick, gilded belt, from which a ceremonial apron cascaded down the front. The fabric of the apron was a dark, midnight linen, heavily paneled with column embroidery and stamped gold discs that chimed as the wind blew, although he only wore bottom clothes, leaving his top open.
His eyes seemed dizzy as if he had awakened after many years, while the first thing he saw were his own corrupted members.
The man glanced at a few people whose flesh instantly decayed, slowly falling apart into liquid, only leaving behind the skeletons that slowly emerged and rushed toward other members. A soft murmur came out of the man. "Who... am I?"
Which seemed like he had forgotten himself.
Silas only watched it happen from afar as he looked at the brown man with a sharp nose and deep golden eyes that flickered with a light purple and crimson fog.
He wore a crown of gold that was curled around his head with a snake head crafted.
On the man’s forehead was a conspicuous snake mark, like a small line that resembled a forehead gem.
As all the surrounding Ascended lunged at him, only a mere glance at them brought their fall as they decayed to death one by one. Their flesh turned into dust, and their souls crumbled from the weight of an Angel’s gaze.
Silas hid behind the tree and peered to look at him standing in the center as the skeletons surrounded him.
Remaining Ascended ran, only to get caught by the hands of the skeletons on the ground; with a single touch, their legs broke and completely melted down.
The man named Aiziq Grieger stared at the skeletons, then looked at his hands with a silent expression as he narrowed his eyes slightly. Slowly, he looked at the moon in the sky before turning toward the exit of the forest. He glanced back at the vast graveyard that was there for his slumber.
"What am I? I forgot, I only remember my name... Aiziq, and that face... that woman." He murmured as he stepped forward with a slow, rhythmic thock. "I remember she died from old age, but who is she? Why do I only remember her face but not myself?"
Silas took a breath before quickly turning his steps toward the port city. "That power wasn’t ordinary... that man had awakened from his slumber."
In an hour, he stopped at the waiting northern port, where a massive ship had been waiting to leave.
Silas moved in swiftly inside the ship without buying a ticket.
Inside, the whole ship was filled with people as their chatting echoed through the ship before it left the Delta Imperium. Hiding throughout the ship, he entered the basement room and shut the door behind. "Two days of travel to Ciradyl before the Mysteries’ protection arrives, I need to get there soon."
He pulled the Descent requirement out, which states the name that was—Ordinal Eight, the Chaos Listener, the Warden of Silence. He knew already that this Ordinal of the Authority opened the whispers of the cosmos; thus, the Warden losing their sanity more often. The location for descent was also dangerous, and may even drive him to madness without any anchor.
The Chaos Listener was an Ordinal of Senses; if he had the protection of Mysteries, then he could manage his sanity with the support of an ancient deity.
"Only two days, and next Sunday will be the Lenormand Club’s second meeting. I must find something useful before that."
Outside, he felt the same suffocating presence. It was Aiziq who happened to travel to the same destination as him.
He managed his breathing before leaning against the wall. "Only if the bounty hunters are not on this ship."
Silas peered through the hole in the gate where he found a few people sitting on chairs, while some looked at the sea. Finally, after assuring himself, he descended downward.
In the bottom, he heard them talk about something. "Ah man, we found the gateway to Bloodborne Sea."
"We know, but now, we need to find a way to awaken this artifact. What does this artifact do, though?" Another man spoke as Silas watched them from behind the stairs.
"I don’t know, but it looks like a mystical charm, maybe for a protective barrier?" The man answered with his eyes locked into an artifact that looked like a brass-handled bell with a vajra-shaped ring hanging down.
Silas’ gaze examined their presence, looking through the soul as he understood that they were equal to him in terms of Ordinal rank, meaning he shouldn’t fight them.
Although he walked toward them and raised his hand with a greeting look. His face remained neutral as he approached them. "Hey, I heard what you just said. I have something important too; would you like to know?"
