Chapter 153: The Life Orb Manifestation

The bullet hit directly the man behind the pillars as Lionel glanced at Mo Fei, knowing well that it should have missed.

From behind the pillars, the man disappeared as the chime of a bell echoed in the hall.

Mo Fei darted his eyes around, trying to find the location through the spirit threads. Just then from the ceiling, the Jester jumped in toward them.

Lionel moved first, deflecting the sharp cards that launched toward Mo Fei with a few kicks.

Benson quickly stood in front of Old Bai, watching the movements carefully, while Miss Rose had already prepared herself, her eyes glowed crimson as she looked at the shadows of the pillars and pulled them toward her.

The surrounding shadow created a blanket as the jester lunged at Lionel; the protective shadow instantly blocked the hit. She quickly deflected the attacks, throwing him away.

Benson glanced at the members. "Rest assured, we will handle it. Take that key to safety."

Hisssss.

The wind howled as suddenly the whole place shifted into a completely dim place, and a thick dark fog swallowed their visions.

’Conceptual Domain...’

Mo Fei’s eyes widened as he realized, and from behind him the thick fog curled into a sinister tentacle that slammed him in the back; he quickly turned before the smoke turned into sharp knives, which launched themselves toward him.

He quickly sidestepped to avoid the hits.

Miss Rose stepped forward and looked at Benson. "Allow me a few seconds to open my conceptual domain; it’s too strong to be managed by others."

Benson gave her a small nod before turning toward the place.

The fog knives sliced through the air where Mo Fei had stood a split second prior, embedding themselves into the marble floor before dissolving into thin, dark mist.

?Mo Fei pulled back his fingers and pointed his revolver.

?"Lionel! Left flank!" Benson barked, stepping directly in front of Old Bai. He reached into his coat and pulled a small mystical charm. A golden aura surged outward in a three-meter radius, forming a solid barrier that pushed back the creeping black fog.

?Lionel gritted his teeth, his leather boots scraping against the slick floor as he pivoted. The Jester emerged from the mist, grinning unnaturally as a barrage of steel-tipped playing cards rained down upon Benson’s light barrier. Sparks flew as the barrier groaned under the sudden kinetic assault.

?"Don’t let him touch the lantern!" Benson called out, his knuckles turning white as he held the light steady.

?"Got it!" Lionel leaped, his body blurring as he launched a heavy, wind-pressured kick aimed at the Jester’s midsection. The Jester twisted contortedly mid-air, slipping through the strike as if he was an eel.

Lionel quickly realized that his attack had done nothing to the figure standing ahead. "Damage transfer... what authority is that?"

"Lightless." Mo Fei stepped back, coming beside him. "He is acting like Mimick, who can mimic things... But I didn’t know that Lightless had damage transfer."

Lionel grunted underneath. "I never knew Lightless is that dangerous, and that thing is barely Ordinal Seven."

Mo Fei shot a few bullets, but all of them did nothing, as if the bullets simply never hit him in the first place; the whole spiritual damage had been entirely deflected.

But the maneuver bought the vital seconds

Miss Rose needed.

?Behind them, she stood at the center. Her crimson eyes flared with an eerie luminance that seemed to absorb the flickering warmth around her.

?She raised both hands, her palms facing upward.

?"In the shadow of the cold moon, light surrenders."

?Her voice was a quiet, solemn whisper, yet it echoed with a weight that made the temperature in the hall plunge into freezing cold. "From the glass that holds no face,

To the dark they cannot trace,

I invoke the twilight’s grace—Faceless Moon."

Both conceptual domains merged together as the thick fog inside was absorbed by the faceless moon.

?Where the enemy’s conceptual domain was an active, aggressive cloud of blades and tentacles, Miss Rose’s domain was a mixture of shadow and light.

?The Jester’s eyes widened in sudden horror as he found himself completely blinded and deafened mid-air. The thick fog domain melted away, utterly overwhelmed by the localized eclipse that Miss Rose had brought forth.

?Within this void of absolute darkness, his vision had gone obscured, yet he could still move through the place.

Mo Fei looked around as he understood that he was going for their spirit threads.

?Miss Rose shifted her stance. Through her Shadow Sense, she heard and felt every movement and vibration that contacted her shadow to the domain. She took a step forward, slipping effortlessly into the dark via Shadow Step.

?She reappeared directly behind the jester, who kept his vision open although the physical eyes were obscured. He quickly shifted the cards into a dagger and stabbed her in the chest.

?Miss Rose didn’t attempt to block it as she activated Reflection Seer—an Ordinal Eight ability of eclipse Authority.

?The dark dagger struck her chest, but instead of piercing through her flesh, the attack mirrored immediate, lethal violence. A slash exploded across the Jester’s own chest, spewing crimson blood as he staggered backward, coughing up.

?"Ugh—!" The jester tumbled clumsily across the fog-covered floor.

?Before he could regain his footing, Lionel was already above him, a heavy boot coming down to pin the assassin’s chest to the floor with a dull thud.

But the man quickly avoided and jumped in the air before scattering smoothly into the cards and came behind a pillar.

He pulled a heavy box from his clothes, taking the artifact out, a corrupted face of a clown, which quickly disappeared into the fog, leaving behind a small doll that had no face or eyes.

All of them suddenly stopped moving, their consciousness fading as the face of a wicked clown controlled them with martiomettist threads, a corrupted sealed artifact, which needed careful movement to move, if the clown noticed, then even the user would be controlled by it too.

The Jester appeared directly in front of Mo Fei, believing that he had lost consciousness.

A voice echoed in Mo Fei’s mind. "Great Master, you can’t move yet. Don’t try to because if you moved while the conceptual threads had taken over you, then your spirit threads might face consequences."

"Bring the divine mist."

"Yes, Great Master."

Quietly, the hidden divine mist curled around the conceptual threads as it slowly broke them apart, while Mo Fei remained paused, keeping his act as unconscious as the Jester approached.

The man pulled a card, prepared to stab Mo Fei, but then.

THWACK!!

A heavy punch landed directly into the Jester’s face as Mo Fei moved; the corrupted artifact’s focus shifted to the Jester as suddenly the conceptual threads wrapped around him, but because he moved, his whole body slashed down and the heart slowed. His nose dripped blood on the ground as his spirit threads snapped.

Using the opportunity, Mo Fei lifted the revolver up and pulled the trigger with trembling hands.

BAM!

The bullet directly hit his forehead, making the body fall to the floor. Without wasting another moment, he rushed toward the box, shutting it as the conceptual thread dissolved into the air.

All of their consciousness returned, only to find Mo Fei holding the box of a corrupted artifact, while on the ground, the jester’s body melted.

However, Lionel only stared at Mo Fei, knowing well that Sherlock was hiding something, although he didn’t ask anything yet.

Miss Rose turned toward the Keybearer as the conceptual domain had crumbled, leaving her exhausted by the power. Looking at the key box in the man’s hand, she heaved a sigh of relief and turned toward Benson, who finally moved.

On the rooftop, near the balcony, the woman stood behind the shadows. "Such a terrifying Authority... giving equal exchange to an Ordinal Six, an Ordinal Seven, an Ordinal Eight, and an Ordinal Ten. Although the life orb couldn’t maintain this Authority almost as if it was protected by something, moreover, I never found it difficult to manifest a life unlike this."

She finally turned away toward the window and jumped out. "That’d be reckless to fight alone."
