Chapter 1470: Chapter 1460: Go Back

The old lady’s complexion doesn’t look too good. As she moves downstairs, her steps are slow and appear quite difficult.

She glanced at Zhuang Jiaoyang and said irritably, "If I don’t come down, won’t the house be in chaos again?"

"No way, Mom, those are just small matters. You need to focus on getting your health better, don’t worry." Ruan Xinyu held on to the old lady, carefully guiding her downstairs.

Later, Kong Lizhen also came up, replacing the servant, supporting the old lady’s other hand.

Looking at Kong Lizhen, the old lady’s face revealed a bit more of a smile.

This scene felt familiar to Zhuang Jiaoyang, and the long-buried resentment in her heart erupted. She said irritably, "Who’s causing trouble, Mom? I traveled all the way from abroad to see you, but who would have thought that Sister-in-law doesn’t welcome me at all. For an outsider, she’s even driving me out of the house."

Ruan Xinyu didn’t refute these words; she focused solely on assisting the old lady to the sofa.

Mrs. Zhuang sat down, glanced at her daughter, and said irritably, "If it weren’t for your unpleasant words, would your sister-in-law drive you away? Jiaoyang, I gave birth to you; do you think I don’t know your temperament?"

"Mom, how could you say that?" Zhuang Jiaoyang was somewhat displeased, "Aren’t I your biological daughter?"

"You remember you’re my biological daughter? I’ve been in the hospital for days, and you’re only coming back today. In your eyes, am I still your mother?" Mrs. Zhuang looked at Zhuang Jiaoyang, her eyes full of disappointment.

Zhuang Jiaoyang pursed her lips and said, "I was on vacation abroad, couldn’t get back. I didn’t do it on purpose."

Ruan Xinyu’s brows furrowed slightly at these words. Was this something she should be saying?

The old lady knew clearly in her heart and was too lazy to argue with her.

She looked at Kong Lizhen and asked, "I heard you went shopping with Nuannuan today. Which places did you go?"

Kong Lizhen laughed, "Just wandered around casually. Beijing is very prosperous, even the roads are noticeably wider than in other cities."

"Beijing is big, you can’t finish exploring it in a day or two. Stay here for a while longer, and Xinyu can take you around. She’s more familiar with Beijing than Nuannuan."

"Okay." Kong Lizhen replied with a smile.

Seeing her mother being closer to an outsider than to herself, Zhuang Jiaoyang’s face looked extremely unpleasant.

She stepped forward, sat beside the old lady, deliberately squeezed Kong Lizhen away, and linked her arm with the old lady’s, speaking affectionately, "Mom, I’ve lost weight recently. Have you noticed?"

Kong Lizhen was pushed and took a step back. Mu Yan immediately came to support her, looking displeased at Zhuang Jiaoyang, ready to speak, but was stopped by Kong Lizhen.

The old lady looked at this daughter and frowned, saying, "If you’ve lost weight, eat more. You’re grown, do I still need to feed you?"

Zhuang Jiaoyang said unhappily, "Mom, why are you like you’ve eaten gunpowder? I’m just hoping you care for me a bit."

"Since I’ve sat here, have you cared for me even once, other than complaining?" the old lady retorted.

Zhuang Jiaoyang’s face stiffened and she said, "I see you’re fine."

"Jiaoyang, you don’t know how dangerous it was for Mom at that time, she nearly couldn’t be saved." Ruan Xinyu said solemnly.

Zhuang Jiaoyang raised her head and glared at her, "Why, are you taking this chance to kick me while I’m down and point out my faults? Is this how you are as a sister-in-law?"

Ruan Xinyu kept a calm face, remaining silent.

The old lady, however, wasn’t pleased, and looking at Zhuang Jiaoyang said, "Fine, if you really didn’t intend to visit me, then you’d better leave."
