Chapter 1458: Chapter 1448: Pleasing the Future Mother-in-law
Not long after, Song Cheng’an came to the company to pick someone up.
He had just gotten out of the car when he saw Jiang Jingheng coming out of the gate and heading in the other direction.
He closed the car door, waved towards that side, and was just about to call out, but Jing Heng had already gotten in the car and left.
Song Cheng’an watched the direction the car left in, took out his phone, and dialed his number, but unfortunately, it was turned off on the other end.
"What the heck? Why is it turned off in broad daylight?"
"Cheng An." Jiang Wenhui’s voice came from beside his ear.
Song Cheng’an turned his head and saw her coming down the steps, jogging towards him.
He put his phone away, walked over, and said, "Slow down."
"Have you been waiting long?" Jiang Wenhui smiled as she reached him.
"Not really, I just got here." Song Cheng’an said calmly, "I’ve already booked the restaurant, let’s go."
"Okay."
Song Cheng’an held her hand and opened the car door.
After getting in the car, Song Cheng’an helped her fasten her seatbelt.
When he saw her taking out documents to read, he frowned slightly, "Work even after hours?"
"There’s a document I haven’t finished reading. I want to finish it so it doesn’t pile up for tomorrow." Jiang Wenhui said with a smile, her gaze fixed on the document.
Song Cheng’an leaned back in his seat, watching her focused look, and asked, "When will you have time to have dinner with my parents?"
"No time recently." Jiang Wenhui replied without thinking.
Song Cheng’an frowned, "You always say that. Even Jing Heng doesn’t seem as busy as you."
Jiang Wenhui heard the resentment in his tone and looked up at him with a smile, "Once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll definitely spend time with you. However, your mom doesn’t seem to like me much, are you sure I should meet her?"
"Who said she doesn’t like you? She’s actually hoping for me to get married soon." Song Cheng’an raised his hand to smooth out the stray hair on her forehead, smiled, and said, "I thought you didn’t care about my mom’s opinion at all, it seems like you’re ready to marry me, huh?"
"Bang," Jiang Wenhui slapped his hand away and said playfully, "Can you be serious?"
"When am I not serious?" Song Cheng’an snorted lightly, "I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time."
"Let’s talk about it once things settle down on my end." Jiang Wenhui replied.
"What do you mean by settle down? Aren’t you settled now?" Song Cheng’an retorted, "With your husband earning money to support you, you don’t have to work so hard."
Jiang Wenhui smiled without saying anything, her eyes glued to the document in her hand.
Seeing her unresponsive, Song Cheng’an felt somewhat discouraged and leaned back in his seat.
He took out his phone and messaged Lu Hao and the others.
It wasn’t until Jiang Wenhui finished reading the document that she noticed the car hadn’t started, and asked, "Didn’t you say we’re going to eat? Why aren’t we moving?"
"I didn’t want to disturb you while you were reading." Song Cheng’an said in a calm tone.
Noticing his off expression, Jiang Wenhui knew he was upset and said, "Don’t act like a child and sulk, okay? I’m hungry, let’s go eat."
Seeing her attempt to appease him, Song Cheng’an smiled and said, "Who’s sulking with you, let’s go."
He lowered his head, replied to a message, turned off his phone, and started the car.
Just then, Jiang Wenhui noticed the messages in his WeChat group and asked, "I saw you guys were chatting about Jing Heng, what’s going on?"
Song Cheng’an said, "I just saw him at the entrance. I was about to call him, but he already left. I called him, but his phone is off. I asked Lu Hao and the others, and they said they haven’t been able to reach him these past few days either."
"There’s a project problem at his company recently, he’s probably in a bad mood. He hasn’t been himself these past days." Jiang Wenhui said.
Song Cheng’an frowned, "I think it’s not just the project. It seems like he and Mu Yan are really having issues this time."
