Chapter 2750: Chapter 1862: Summoning
"Doo—Doo—Doo—!"
The shrill sounds of the siren tore through the air as the police car sped by. The officers stationed at the school gate used all their strength to disperse the onlooking media and journalists blocking the entrance, allowing the police car to enter. The car then parked to one side, and a male officer stepped out. He had an angular face like it was chiselled from rock, with an unkempt beard that looked completely untended.
On the other side, a young officer hurriedly followed him out. At the same time, one of the officers inspecting the playground saw their arrival and quickly approached them, saluting.
"Police Chief Gongteng."
"Hmm."
Chief Gongteng nodded, then turned his head to look at the school building ahead. At the very center of this building was an eerie, twisted circular pattern that was quite eye-catching, resembling some kind of magic circle. This enormous circle pattern covered two-thirds of the building’s surface. Though the crimson color of the pattern had settled, it still gave an unsettling feeling.
"Tell me the situation."
"Yes."
The officer took out a notebook and quickly reported.
"The first discovery was made by the student club here for early practice. They arrived to find the school gates firmly shut. This surprised them, so they went to the security room and found it empty. Someone then climbed over the wall to open the gate, and they found this on reaching the building."
The officer spoke, glancing at the bizarre pattern, then looked away.
"We’ve already tested the pattern... it contains human blood, as well as fragments of skin and muscle tissue. It’s as if..."
"As if someone used another person as a brush to paint it on the building."
Chief Gongteng gave a cold snort.
"Does one person have that much blood?"
"It’s hard to say. Logically speaking, it’s unlikely... but from the samples we’ve tested from several places, all the blood comes from the same person."
"The missing security guard?"
"Yes."
The officer lowered his voice at this point.
"There’s another thing we haven’t disclosed to the media yet. We searched the guard’s room and found numerous illegal videotapes targeting students on his computer and some... well, you know..."
"Hmph."
Chief Gongteng gave a cold snort.
He understood, as he had handled many similar cases. In this world, these things were as commonplace as traffic accidents.
But for those with a sense of justice, it was something they could never get used to, no matter how many times it happened.
"Search his house. This idiot must have provoked someone."
"We will."
For this city, bizarre murder cases weren’t something that drew much attention. In fact, after being reported in the morning news, this one had fallen silent—it should have stayed that way.
Until the next morning.
Chief Gongteng stood with a gloomy expression, staring forward. It was another school, almost the same, with twisted, nauseating patterns painted in blood and flesh on the building, making people uncomfortable.
"This time the victim is a teacher,"
The officer reported to Chief Gongteng again.
"He was in charge of psychological counseling for the students at this school."
"Psychological counseling?"
"Using hypnosis and such. According to the students, those who participated felt much more relaxed afterward. Of course, some students believed he did something inappropriate under the guise of counseling. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find evidence."
"Did you?"
"Of course."
Responding to Chief Gongteng’s question, the officer in charge of the search nodded and produced a plastic bag containing several videotapes.
"These videos show him using hypnosis on students during one-on-one counseling sessions and then committing acts of violence—why do these guys always like to record what they do?"
"Maybe they never considered the consequences."
Chief Gongteng spat again and looked away.
"So, is the perpetrator a seeker of justice?"
"That’s uncertain, but who knows what the media will say."
Chief Gongteng turned to look at the pattern again. They had already sent people to investigate, even consulting experts and scholars from universities specializing in this field. However, they all claimed never to have seen such patterns and had no idea what they were.
"By the way, Chief Gongteng."
After the report, the officer didn’t leave but instead leaned closer.
"I don’t know if you’ve heard... these patterns can’t be wiped away."
"Can’t be wiped away?"
"That’s what my colleagues said. The school originally planned to cover the strange pattern with paint, but it was useless. No matter how much they tried to cover it, the pattern would seep through. Later, the school even attempted to dig out the blood-stained parts, only to discover... that it wasn’t bricks and soil beneath, but looked more like writhing flesh..."
"What nonsense, what the hell are you talking about."
Police Chief Gongteng glared at the officer, who shrank back.
"I’m serious... at least that’s what everybody’s saying."
"Such ridiculous things couldn’t possibly happen. If you have the time, why don’t you conduct some investigations."
He kicked away the unprofessional officer, and Police Chief Gongteng snorted coldly. He had to admit, these things were quite bizarre, but he didn’t think it was any demons or evil spirits causing trouble.
However, speaking of hypnosis, it’s hypnosis again...
Police Chief Gongteng frowned deeply, this case reminded him of a series of previous incidents where the perpetrators also used hypnosis to attack others. Even when discovered, they utilized hypnosis to form a huge group and network, so much so that the police often had to use various methods to catch them all.
However, the confessions of these criminals were quite strange.
They all claimed that a program called the Hypnosis App suddenly appeared on their phones, and then they used it on others due to various reasons. After succeeding, they became addicted, thus embarking on this path of no return.
But upon searching these individuals’ phones, the police found no such Hypnosis App at all, even after disassembling the phones for analysis, no anomalies were found. The police even conducted online searches but found no programs that would download and automatically install on their phones.
At first, the police thought it was just one-sided claims from the suspects, a desperate attempt to evade responsibility, after all, according to them, it wasn’t their fault but the app’s. But the police didn’t find this app on their phones, which indicated it didn’t exist.
However, when one or two said this, it was fine, but many criminals later confessed similarly, which was somewhat unsettling.
To the extent that even internally, the police suspected whether such an app really existed.
If there was such a thing, then why were they using it this way? According to the criminals, as long as they used the app, they could hypnotize others very easily. A program with such strength could completely control the entire country, why bother with such trivial matters?
But Police Chief Gongteng didn’t have time to think about this because shortly after returning to the police station, he received another report.
This time, the crime scene was a dilapidated warehouse, seemingly a base for some gang, but now, they were all dead. When Police Chief Gongteng arrived, he saw the entire warehouse covered with bright and twisted patterns drawn in blood.
"This guy is clearly becoming more and more bold and over the top."
Police Chief Gongteng squinted his eyes, his gaze cold.
"He actually dared to do this in broad daylight, and no one saw him? Maybe he disguised himself as a painter or something, but I’m saying, did no one in the vicinity see him?"
"Not many people come here usually."
The officer in charge of the inspection was the same one from the morning, now apparently quite familiar with this.
"We inquired around, this was the territory of that gang, anyone who approached would be troubled, so everyone stayed away from here. If it weren’t for workers repairing the overpass accidentally discovering, it might have taken us much longer to notice their disappearance."
"That murderer is really a vigilante for justice."
Police Chief Gongteng snorted again, clearly displeased.
"Maybe, at least he only kills bad people."
"Then does he have the guts to go to prison?"
Police Chief Gongteng chuckled.
"There are quite a few bad people locked up there. If he’s truly capable, why doesn’t he go to the prison and kill those guys?"
While Police Chief Gongteng was speaking, a shadow inside the warehouse quivered slightly.
But no one noticed this.
Soon, night fell.
The news continued to report the recent series of mysterious murders, the media didn’t seem particularly concerned about the murderer, at least for now, as he only kills bad people. The guests were more focused on discussing the misdeeds of the victims, and why their actions were unnoticed before they were killed.
However, for Duanmu Huai, it didn’t matter.
"Phew... very good..."
Duanmu Huai lifted his head and stretched lazily. At the moment, he’s standing inside a prison cafeteria, the tables and benches originally here had long been thrown aside by him, with thick blood drawing twisted, strange symbols, and the flesh used to create these symbols naturally exhausted by him.
Actually, Duanmu Huai using these guys as offerings wasn’t simply about punishing evil and promoting good, he’s not some idiot who likes to mimic Batman. The reason for choosing these guys was because their desires in this area were much stronger than others, hence easier to use.
In fact, Duanmu Huai felt that finding people like this everywhere was a bit inefficient, but in the afternoon at the warehouse, the officer’s words reminded him.
Yeah, relying on finding people outside when will it end, isn’t it quicker to go straight to the prison and kill?
Turns out, his thinking was correct, at least now, he had completed drawing all the runes.
So next is...
Duanmu Huai closed his eyes and sighed silently. It’s ironic, in the previous world, he saved humans from the brink of extinction. And in this world, as the Judge, he must personally push these humans towards destruction and the hell of death.
However, to obliterate the Obsessive Sin, necessary sacrifices are worth it.
Thinking of this, Duanmu Huai raised his hands high, and as he moved, the shadow behind him expanded, shadow tendrils extending out like seaweed dancing.
"E uh shub nigger ath ngaa ryla neb Shoggoth..."
Filthy, twisted sounds emerged from Duanmu Huai’s mouth, gusts of wind gradually appeared, probing into the abyss of that infinite void.
"Listen to my summoning, bring liberation for the creatures of this world! From the sources of darkness to the Cosmic Abyss, From the Cosmic Abyss to the sources of darkness, everlasting praise for them, Shabu Nicolas! The Black Goat that births thousands of offspring! In the name of The Ancient Dominator, I summon you—descend!"
Accompanied by Duanmu Huai’s roar, at this moment, the pitch-black night sky instantly transformed.
