A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions
Chapter 75: The Double-Standard Wild Man
Chapter 75: Chapter 75: The Double-Standard Wild Man
"Uncle Liu, here’s the situation..." Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t hide anything from Liu Hongjun. She knew Liu Hongjun had seen her file; she didn’t really have a cousin. She had long since cut ties with the Fu Family, so how could there be a cousin coming to see her?
Rather than hiding it, it was better to explain to him clearly. For Lu Feng’s sake, he probably... wouldn’t make things too difficult for her, right?
Fu Xiaoxiao explained everything about Fu Cheng from start to finish, and Lin Qiu helped fill in the parts she didn’t know.
After listening to Fu Xiaoxiao’s explanation, Liu Hongjun finally shifted his gaze to Fu Cheng.
"You’re saying that this wild man, who’s never had formal training, took down the soldiers I trained? And one against six at that, without being captured?" Liu Hongjun’s gaze fixed on the muscles on his body, pursing his lips.
"Seems... that’s how it is?" Fu Xiaoxiao hadn’t seen the beginning but saw the end, where Fu Cheng indeed held his own one against six.
"Isn’t this guy naturally fit for the military?" Liu Hongjun stepped forward and patted Fu Cheng on the legs, waist, back, and finally the buttocks, finding that all his muscles were full and strong.
Fu Cheng, whose butt was patted, stared at Liu Hongjun’s hand, seemingly debating whether to break it.
Lin Qiu quickly grabbed Fu Cheng’s hand, soothing his agitated nerves.
Fu Xiaoxiao twitched the corner of her mouth; if Lin Qiu weren’t here, Liu Hongjun’s hand... might have been in danger.
Liu Hongjun had no idea he was this close to losing a hand. He glanced at Fu Xiaoxiao. "He doesn’t have an identity?"
"He probably doesn’t." It was Lin Qiu who answered Liu Hongjun, as she knew more about his background. "I actually asked the village head of Changqing Village about him. The village head said he was always up in the mountains and never came down. They didn’t know who his parents were, and many villagers had seen him in the back mountains. When he was found, he was still little. As a child, he would go pick wild fruits. Someone wanted to adopt him, but he’d run back to the mountains after just two days, and after that, no one cared about him anymore."
"He can’t speak?" Liu Hongjun nodded and asked again.
"He understands; I taught him to speak." Lin Qiu thought for a moment and answered honestly.
"So he’s here specifically to find you," Liu Hongjun stated with certainty.
Lin Qiu blushed and nodded slightly.
"Uncle Liu, given his condition, not keeping him in the army would be a waste." Fu Xiaoxiao lightly laughed at Liu Hongjun, suggesting that Fu Cheng needed identification. Originally, she wanted to find Lu Feng, but now that Liu Hongjun discovered him, wasn’t he a better candidate?
Liu Hongjun nodded in agreement; indeed, with such conditions, if trained, he could certainly become a formidable warrior under his command.
"But... it seems he only listens to Comrade Lin Qiu, and no one else. How can we train him?" Liu Hongjun hit the nail on the head with his sharp question, causing Lin Qiu to panic.
"Uncle Liu, isn’t this easy to resolve? Isn’t there already someone who can make him listen?" Fu Xiaoxiao pointed at Lin Qiu, "Fu Cheng’s dedicated instructor? It’s settled."
"Hmm..." Liu Hongjun glanced at Lin Qiu, then at Fu Cheng for a long time, seemingly weighing the options.
"But if they go to the battlefield, how can she follow?" Under everyone’s expectant gaze, Liu Hongjun shook his head.
Lin Qiu’s face turned pale, her lips quivered, and her eyes dimmed.
Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t say anything more. After all, if they did go on a mission, Lin Qiu indeed wasn’t suitable. Such a bloody battlefield, how could she bear it?
"Let’s discuss this later! Since you claimed he’s your cousin, let him stay at your place for now! I’ll think about it." Liu Hongjun didn’t give a firm answer, just said he’d consider it further. Such a promising person, he really didn’t want to miss out on.
He arranged for Fu Cheng to stay at the Fu Family with Fu Xiaoxiao first.
"Okay." Hearing Liu Hongjun’s words, Fu Xiaoxiao’s lips curled into a smile. It seemed Liu Hongjun really didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
"Uncle Liu, we’ll be going now." Fu Xiaoxiao nodded at Liu Hongjun and then motioned for Lin Qiu and the others to leave the office with her.
After leaving the office, Lin Xue felt her legs go a bit weak, and Lin Qiu looked at Fu Xiaoxiao worriedly.
"Xiao Xiao, what should we do? Should we let him go back to the mountains?" Lin Qiu asked, concerned.
"I’m not going back." Fu Cheng didn’t react to anything else, but only when Lin Qiu suggested he go back did he speak up, refusing.
Fu Xiaoxiao glanced amusingly at Fu Cheng, then turned to Lin Qiu with a knowing smile. "See, he’s attached to you."
Lin Qiu was helpless, feeling both happy and annoyed.
The group returned home and sat in the courtyard.
"The only good news currently is that Uncle Liu is somewhat interested and considering the possibilities," Fu Xiaoxiao looked at the disappointed Lin Qiu, trying to comfort her.
"Yeah! From what he said, he’s also thinking about what to do in the future. Sis, it hasn’t reached the worst point yet." Lin Xue also joined Fu Xiaoxiao in comforting Lin Qiu.
"But he... only listens to me, and that’s certainly not going to work. I can’t go with them; I’d faint at the sight of blood." Lin Qiu sighed, troubled.
She considered Fu Xiaoxiao’s suggestion and thought about whether she could help him better adapt to life in the army. But she couldn’t always be by his side. What if he disobeys when she’s not around?
Fu Xiaoxiao turned to look at Fu Cheng. "Hey, what’s your opinion?"
Fu Cheng was facing off with a little wolf cub grinning at him, turned to look at Fu Xiaoxiao. "I want to stay."
"If you want to stay, you’ll have to obey, listen to the army. Can you do that?" Fu Xiaoxiao glanced at him. Was this guy really a fool? Wasn’t he quite clever?
"I can." Fu Cheng responded flatly.
As long as he could stay, he didn’t mind listening a little.
Looking at his nonchalant demeanor, Fu Xiaoxiao restrained the urge to smack him a couple of times.
He wore a rebellious face, unlike his obedient manner before Lin Qiu.
"Here, these clothes are for Lu Feng; you can borrow them for now. Go clean yourself up and wash the dirt off." Fu Xiaoxiao went to the room and brought out the clothes she made for Lu Feng, indicating that Fu Cheng should tidy up. He certainly couldn’t maintain his wild appearance any longer.
"This is a razor blade; shave your beard." Fu Xiaoxiao produced a razor blade.
Fu Cheng looked at the objects in her hand and bluntly said,
"I don’t know how."
"..." Fu Xiaoxiao met his eyes, narrowing them dangerously.
"You go take a shower first! Clean yourself up, and I’ll shave you when you come out." At the crucial moment, Lin Qiu intervened to smooth things over, nudging Fu Cheng to obediently go shower.
"Okay." Fu Cheng’s attitude did a complete 180 when facing Lin Qiu, obedient to an extreme.
Lin Qiu went to the kitchen, intending to pick up the bucket, but Fu Cheng grabbed it first, mixing a bucket of warm water for himself under her guidance.
"He’s truly double-standard." Fu Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth, never having seen someone so blatantly biased!
His attitude towards her and Lin Qiu was glaringly different.
"It’s not just you." Lin Xue patted Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand comfortingly.
She wasn’t alone; he had that attitude towards everyone except her sister.
