10x Rewards: Conquering Women and Taming Beauties

Chapter 206 — Heart of Reflection

  • Next Chapter

The joint expedition reached the Heart of Reflection at midday on the seventh day.

The land simply fell away into a wide crater with no visible bottom. Above the centre of that emptiness a colossal mirror hung motionless in the air, its surface perfect and unmarked. The mirror was taller than any tower in the Bone City and wider than Isolde's largest living ship. Light from the shifting sky of the Expanse moved across it without ever settling into a single reflection.

We stopped at the crater's edge. Lady Sable, Lian, Mei, and Rhea stood with the original circle and the remaining survey teams. No one spoke for a long time. The mirror waited.

When the first of us stepped close enough, the surface came alive.

It did not show the crater or the sky. It showed possible futures, different for each person who looked. I saw myself standing at the centre of a vast unified force that stretched across drifting continents and open seas, the women of my circle arranged around me in clear positions of power and trust. Then the image shifted and I saw a different ending: alone on the edge of a white scar that cut the world in half, the circle gone, the physique still burning, and nothing left to spend it on.

Elizabeth drew a slow breath beside me. Whatever she saw stayed behind her eyes. Vale's jaw tightened. Seraphina's expression turned distant. Feng Lan's hands curled into fists and then forced themselves open again. The newer women — Yara, Nyra, Lian, Mei, Rhea — each faced their own private version of what the mirror offered and what it threatened to take.

A voice spoke from the mirror without sound. It reached every mind at the same time.

Any who step through will receive a permanent increase in the depth of their cursed physique. The cost will be equally permanent. What is given and what is taken cannot be chosen in advance. Step through, or turn back. The Heart does not wait forever.

Lady Sable looked at me.

"This is why the earlier expeditions failed. They argued too long or sent the wrong people first."

Rhea rested her hand on the hilt of her replacement blade.

"The Ashen Court lost an entire company to hesitation here. I will not repeat that mistake."

Lian and Mei exchanged a short glance through their dual link.

"We go where the measurement is richest," Mei said.

Elizabeth's voice was calm and final.

"The core goes first. Together. The rest of the expedition holds the perimeter until we return or the mirror closes."

No one argued.

I stepped through first.

The surface of the mirror gave way like cold water. On the other side there was no landscape, only a long moment of absolute pressure that pushed against every channel and every boundary of the Cursed Nebula Physique. Something vast examined the current stage of my power, found it sufficient, and then rewrote it. The process was neither pain nor pleasure. It was pure change. When it ended I stood again on the crater's edge with the others, but the physique inside me had become denser, cleaner, and deeper than it had been when I entered. The ordinary scar on my forearm remained only skin. Everything else had advanced.

Elizabeth followed. Then Vale. Seraphina. Lydia. Feng Lan. One by one the original circle stepped through and returned altered. The newer women went after them. Yara and Nyra entered together and emerged with identical sharp inhales of discovery. Lian and Mei crossed as a pair, dual physique flaring, and came back with their shared power noticeably stronger. Rhea walked through last of the core group, jaw set, and returned with a new weight in her presence that made the ash-grey armour she wore seem lighter.

The survey teams and remaining disciples did not enter. The risk was too high for anyone whose physique had not already been tested by the road that brought us here. The mirror remained open behind us, but none of the others stepped forward.

We made a private camp a short distance from the crater, far enough from the main expedition that the changes in our power would not unsettle the wider force. Thin barriers of bone-white and living vine gave us walls and a roof. Inside that temporary shelter the new depth of every physique pressed against the others without barrier or restraint.

The first night began almost immediately.

The advanced power made every touch land harder and last longer. When I took Elizabeth the connection between us felt wider than before, as if the Heart had removed a layer that used to sit between skin and energy. She came with a broken sound she rarely allowed herself and pulled me deeper instead of letting the climax end the moment. Vale followed with her usual direct hunger, but the new strength in her body turned every movement into something that left both of us shaking. The twins moved together as they always did, yet the dual amplification they produced now carried an extra density that made the shared circuit almost overwhelming. Lian and Mei's dual physique resonated so strongly with the advanced Cursed Nebula that the air in the shelter grew heavy and warm. Rhea claimed her place with the same open interest she had shown from the first day, and the new power in her frame turned the exchange fierce and exact.

Seraphina, Lydia and Feng Lan wove through the hours without needing fixed order. Sometimes two or three of them worked together around me. Sometimes the entire group pressed close enough that the distinction between one body and the next stopped mattering. The advanced physiques fed on the contact and fed it back, creating long rising waves of intensity that refused to break quickly. I finished inside them and across them and against their mouths more times than the night should have allowed, and each release only seemed to open the next demand sooner.

The second night ran longer than the first. The third stretched until the reflected sky outside the shelter had already begun to change colour. By the end of it every woman who had stepped through the Heart had tested the new depth of her power against mine and against the others, and the temporary shelter held the thick, satisfied silence of people who had spent everything they currently had.

Morning found us still tangled across the available mats and low cots. The Heart of Reflection continued to hang motionless above the crater outside. The main expedition waited at a respectful distance. The deeper Mirror Expanse still held unmapped belts and unknown threats.

But the circle that would face them had changed.

The physiques were denser. The bonds were tighter. And the man at the centre of them carried a stage of the Cursed Nebula that no previous map had described.

We rose, dressed, and stepped back out into the reflective light ready for whatever the centre of the Expanse still intended to demand.
