Chapter 91: Finding a Dungeon
Amon lay down on the bed with a deep sigh.
He rubbed his face with both hands and stared at the ceiling for several seconds, trying to make sense of his own actions.
’What am I even doing?’
He knew that some of the things happening around his family were crossing lines that he should never have approached in the first place.
Yet somehow, despite knowing that, he kept allowing himself to get dragged deeper into situations he should have avoided.
’Though I can’t lie it feels really great...’ Amon let out another tired sigh before sitting up. ’Forget it. I need to get my head straight.’
He closed his eyes and began cultivating the Spirit Sovereign Scripture.
The moment he entered the cultivation state, his thoughts gradually became quieter.
The noisy thoughts that had been filling his head slowly faded away, replaced by a strange sense of calmness that spread throughout his mind.
Amon had already experienced the dangers of spirit cultivation.
He remembered how his astral form had entered that strange spiritual ocean before eventually beginning to disappear, and he had no intention of carelessly repeating that mistake.
Still, there was something about the Spirit Sovereign Scripture that continued to bother him.
’There has to be something hidden inside this cultivation method.’
His intuition kept telling him that the technique was far more powerful than he currently understood.
As he continued cultivating, Amon felt his mind becoming clearer.
His concentration became sharper, his thoughts more organized, and even the faint exhaustion he had been carrying throughout the day gradually disappeared.
A strange feeling of strength began spreading through his mind. It was completely different from physical strength.
His body remained still on the bed, yet his consciousness felt as though it was becoming heavier and more substantial.
Amon continued circulating the technique and something strange happened.
He suddenly felt as though his body had become distant, somehow, he could no longer properly feel himself inside his body.
Amon’s brows furrowed. ’What is happening?’
Before he could stop the process, he felt his consciousness being pulled upward.
His vision suddenly became strange and he could see his own body sitting on the bed beneath him.
’Shit.’ He panicked. ’I’m separating from my body?’
He immediately tried to stop the cultivation technique.
The moment he attempted to force himself back into his body, a tremendous wave of exhaustion crashed over his consciousness.
His vision blurred and his thoughts became sluggish.
Before Amon could even understand what had happened, his consciousness went completely dark.
---
When Amon opened his eyes again, sunlight was already entering through the curtains.
He blinked several times before rubbing his temples. His head felt heavy, almost as if he had slept for several days without moving.
"What the hell happened?"
Amon slowly sat up and looked around the room. Everything appeared normal.
He reached toward the bedside table and tapped around until his fingers found his phone.
After turning the screen on, he squinted at the brightness. It was already past eight in the morning.
Amon groaned when he noticed several notifications. Among them was a message from Richard.
’..The fuck is wrong with that cultivation method?’ He rubbed his face before getting out of bed.
After quickly taking a bath and changing his clothes, Amon left the apartment.
He still couldn’t shake the strange feeling from the previous night.
The sensation of separating from his body was too vivid to be a simple dream.
’I really hope there is a big reward for this.’
---
Amon arrived at the Adventurer Bureau and quickly made his way toward Richard’s office.
After knocking on the door, he entered.
Richard was already sitting behind his desk with several documents spread across it.
He looked up when Amon entered. "You’re finally here."
Amon ignored the comment and walked toward the chair. "I was busy."
Richard raised an eyebrow. "What could a academic student possibly do?"
Amon sat down without answering.
Richard shook his head before picking up a stack of documents and passing them across the desk. "These are the new dungeons we’ve acquired information about."
Amon looked down at the documents.
"There are several newly discovered dungeons around the kingdom, I wanted to know if any of them caught your interest."
Amon began looking through the information.
Each document contained details about the dungeon’s location, estimated danger level, known monsters, environmental conditions, and the resources that had been discovered inside.
Some were fire-based, some life based filled with poisonous creatures or unusual plants.
There was even one dungeon containing a massive underground lake-city.
Amon continued flipping through the documents until one particular report caught his attention.
The dungeon was described as having an unusual spiritual environment.
Several explorers had reported strange sensations after entering.
It included hearing voices that weren’t actually there, experiencing brief hallucinations, and feeling as though something was observing them from within the darkness.
Amon immediately became interested. ’Spirit-related.’
After what happened last night, that was exactly what he needed. He placed the document on top of the others.
"I’ll take this one."
Richard glanced at the report. "This one?"
Amon nodded. "I want to explore it."
Richard studied him for a moment before nodding. "Alright. I’ll arrange the necessary permits and send the information to you once everything is prepared."
Amon smiled slightly. "Thanks."
Richard placed the remaining documents aside while his expression soon became more serious.
"There is something else you should know." Richard leaned back in his chair. "Emanued Cordo came to meet with me."
Amon’s expression immediately hardened. "What did he say?"
"Nothing directly." Richard shook his head. "He was polite throughout the entire conversation, but the way he spoke made his intentions obvious."
Amon frowned. "He threatened you?"
"No." Richard tapped his fingers against the desk. "He never said anything that could be considered a direct threat, but he kept bringing you up during the conversation."
Amon remained silent as he leaned back on the chair.
Richard continued. "He implied that you should be careful about what happens to you from now on."
Amon let out a soft chuckle. "So he’s trying to scare me."
"Probably."Richard sighed. "That’s why I’m telling you to be careful. The Cordo family aren’t known for forgiving people who interfere with them."
Amon let out a soft sigh. "I already know."
Amon wasn’t surprised. If anything, he had expected something like this to happen sooner.
Richard looked at him seriously. "Don’t underestimate them."
Amon nodded. "Don’t worry, I am not stupid."
He stood up from the chair and prepared to leave. His phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket.
Amon pulled it out and glanced at the message. The moment he saw who had sent it, his expression became complicated.
The message was short.
---
Felicia:I need you. Come outside.
----
Amon stared at the screen. ’Seriously?’
He sighed and put the phone away.
Amon walked toward the door before muttering under his breath. "Why does she keep picking me up like some kind of sugar mommy?"
Richard stared at him with a weird look. "You said something?"
"Nothing."
Amon walked out of the office and headed toward the Bureau’s entrance.
As he stepped outside, he found a car already waiting for him.
