10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 89: Cooking For Family
Amon began cooking without wasting time
After getting the cooking skill from the system, the more he cooked the better cook he became.
’It’s really is a cheat skill.’ Amon thought to himself. ’Given my life, it will help me a lot in keeping my wives happy.’
He cut the meat into small pieces and placed a large pan over the stove.
After adding a little oil, he waited for it to heat before throwing the meat into the pan.
The moment it touched the hot surface, a loud sizzling sound filled the kitchen, followed by the rich smell of fried meat spreading through the apartment.
Amon grabbed a wooden spatula and began stir-frying it while carefully watching the meat change colour.
’I should train with spirit cultivation again, I might find something useful.’
Dispite the clear danger, Amon still wanted to learn more about spirits. His intuition told him that it was a really overpowered skill.
He added a few spices, mixed everything together, and then reached for the vegetables.
Behind him, the door to one of the bedrooms quietly opened.
Sidney stepped out and glanced toward the kitchen.
She was wearing a short, soft pink sleep shirt that barely reached the middle of her thighs and a pair of matching loose shorts that sat low on her hips.
The thin fabric clung lightly to her figure, and the hem of the shirt rode up a little whenever she moved, showing the smooth skin of her upper thighs.
Her black hair with orange highlights was still slightly messy from lying down.
Her eyes moved from Amon to Ambrosia.
Without saying anything, Sidney walked toward the sofa and sat beside Ambrosia before leaning against her and wrapping her arms around her.
Ambrosia smiled warmly and allowed her to hug her while looking back toward Amon.
Amon glanced over his shoulder. "Are you hungry?"
Sidney didn’t answer, choosing instead to rest her head against Ambrosia’s shoulder.
Ambrosia chuckled softly. "Actually, I wanted to tell you something."
Amon continued stirring the meat. "What happened?"
"I talked with one of my colleagues about the Cordo family case."
The smile on Amon’s face disappeared slightly.
He continued cooking, but his attention immediately shifted toward Ambrosia. "What happened with it?"
Ambrosia’s expression became annoyed. "They weren’t charged."
The spatula stopped for a moment in Amon’s hand. He slowly turned the meat before asking, "How did they get away with it?"
"The case was dismissed because there wasn’t an attorney willing to take it."
Amon frowned deeply. "Wasn’t there anyone else who could take the case?"
Ambrosia shook her head. "There were several people who could have taken it, but they all decided to walk away after they learned who we were dealing with."
Her voice carried clear frustration. "They know the Cordo family has enough influence to make their lives miserable if they decide to retaliate."
Amon remained silent. The sound of the meat sizzling filled the kitchen again as he continued stirring it.
The situation wasn’t particularly surprising.
In the Kingdom, nobles and oligarchs didn’t need to openly control every institution to exert influence.
Their wealth, political connections, businesses, and relationships with government officials gave them enough power.
An ordinary person might be able to win a legal case against a powerful family if the evidence was strong enough, but finding someone willing to stand against that family was another matter entirely.
Amon understood why the other attorneys had backed away. Understanding it, however, didn’t mean he liked it.
Sidney, who had remained quiet throughout the conversation, clicked her tongue. "You two are making the atmosphere worse by talking about that case at home."
Ambrosia looked at her and smiled. "You’re right."
She suddenly reached out with both hands and gently pulled Sidney’s cheeks. "Then perhaps we should talk about something more pleasant."
Sidney’s eyes widened.
"Like the fact that you only got a C in your test results."
Sidney immediately became offended. "That’s unfair! I got a B as well!"
Ambrosia laughed while continuing to hold her cheeks. "That was in your extracurricular activities."
"That still counts!"
"It does, but we’re talking about your actual academic results."
Sidney’s face puffed up as she tried to pull away. "You are supposed to encourage me."
"I am encouraging you." Ambrosia finally released her cheeks.
Sidney rubbed them with both hands and gave her an offended look before standing up. "I’m going back to my room."
Ambrosia chuckled. "Don’t stay there all day."
"I won’t." Sidney turned around and walked toward her room.
Amon watched the exchange from the kitchen. ’These two really are getting along better after the incident.’
He turned his attention back toward the pan and added the vegetables. The sound of cooking once again filled the apartment.
A few minutes later, Ambrosia’s attention shifted toward the television.
She picked up the remote and increased the volume when she noticed the news channel was reporting on the King’s condition.
The cheerful atmosphere in the room gradually disappeared. "...the King’s health continues to deteriorate."
Amon’s hand slowed as he listened. The news reporter continued speaking with a serious expression.
"According to sources close to the Royal Palace, the King’s condition has become increasingly dire over the past several days."
"Several officials have reportedly been summoned to the palace, leading to speculation that His Majesty may soon crown a new ruler of the kingdom."
Ambrosia’s expression became serious and Amon glanced toward the television.
The screen showed an old image of the King sitting upon the royal throne, followed by footage of the palace surrounded by guards.
"The Royal Court has not released an official statement regarding a possible succession ceremony."
"However, political analysts believe that if the King’s condition continues to worsen, preparations for the transfer of power could begin at any moment."
Amon frowned. ’So it really is happening.’
He remembered the conversation he had overheard before.
There had already been rumours about the King’s health, along with suspicions surrounding the Queen.
If the King truly died soon, the political situation in the kingdom could change dramatically.
Amon continued staring at the television while stirring the food.
That was when something caught the corner of his eye.
He looked down. Sidney was crawling quietly across the floor toward the kitchen.
Amon blinked. ’What the hell is she doing?’
She moved carefully, apparently trying not to make any noise.
When she reached the kitchen, she quickly hid behind the counter where the open side faced the hall.
Amon stared at the spot where she was and he couldn’t understand what she was planning.
Sidney quietly called his name in a wishper. "Amon."
He looked toward her. "What are you doing?"
"Come here for a second."
Amon sighed before turning the stove down.
He carefully placed the pan on the back burner and walked toward the counter.
Sidney peeked around the side of the counter and gave him a mischievous wink.
Amon immediately became suspicious and wishpered. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Sidney didn’t answer, she reached out and tried to tug at the bottom of his shirt, apparently attempting to pull him closer.
Confused Amon got closer to the counter when she reached for his waistband.
In one sweep she pulled his pants down with a grin on her face.
’...Ah, fuck.’
