10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 105: University Screening [2]
Amon sat on the edge of the wall and looked down at the hundreds of students still struggling to reach the top.
Some were climbing with their bare hands, while others were using magic to create footholds along the rough surface.
A few students had managed to climb quite high, but most were still far from reaching the top.
Amon looked at them for a moment before glancing at the clock displayed on the large screen.
’I’ve got nothing to do.’
He had expected the test to be somewhat difficult, but after his little trick with the pine trees, there was no one even close to competing with him.
Amon sighed and pulled out his phone. ’Well, I might as well entertain myself.’
He opened the official Royal Family website and entered one of the games available on the platform.
It was a simple pixel game where the player controlled an avatar of the Crown Prince while fighting waves of monsters.
The graphics were incredibly basic, with tiny monsters running toward an even tinier version of the Crown Prince while numbers appeared whenever he attacked them.
Amon stared at the screen for a few seconds. ’...This is so stupid.’
He immediately started playing.
Despite his thoughts, Amon quickly became invested in the game.
He moved the Crown Prince around the screen, attacked monsters, collected coins, and occasionally used special abilities whenever a stronger monster appeared.
’Okay, this is actually kind of fun.’
The Crown Prince was one of the most famous young figures in the kingdom.
According to everything Amon had heard, he was considered the strongest combatant among people of his age throughout the entire kingdom.
The Royal Family constantly praised his achievements, and there were countless stories about his incredible talent.
However, Amon wasn’t completely convinced. ’There isn’t exactly any proof.’
Most of the Crown Prince’s recorded battles were against monsters or his own knights during training.
There weren’t many public records of him fighting against someone genuinely strong from outside the Royal Family.
’It could just be royal propaganda.’
Amon continued playing while occasionally glancing toward the students below.
Still, he couldn’t deny that he was curious about the Crown Prince.
’He’s a senior at the academy, right?’
If the Crown Prince attended the Royal University, Amon would probably have a chance to meet him eventually.
Amon returned his attention to the game.
The game wasn’t particularly complicated, but it was strangely satisfying.
Just as Amon reached another stage, he heard footsteps approaching from behind.
He glanced away from his phone. It had been fifteen minutes since the test started.
Two people had finally reached the top. Amon immediately recognized them.
....Darian Voss and Kael Draven.
The two boys walked toward him and stopped nearby, both staring at Amon with unfriendly expressions.
Amon paused his game and slowly put his phone into his pocket before standing up.
He noticed something interesting when he did.
Because of his Perfected Origin Body, his body was still changing gradually.
He had become noticeably taller than before, and he was even slightly taller than both Darian and Kael.
Amon looked down at them. "Do you two need something?"
Kael’s expression became slightly more arrogant. "Are you a noble?"
Amon blinked. ’What kind of question is that?’
He quickly understood what Kael was trying to do.
The guy was probably making sure he wasn’t picking a fight with someone who had a stronger background than him.
Amon didn’t bother answering. He looked toward Darian, who was still glaring at him.
"Do you need to say something?"
Darian’s expression became colder. "If I ever face you during the combat test, I’ll rip your face off."
Amon stared at him for a moment before chuckling. "Alright."
The boy walked past him and headed toward another section of the wall.
Kael, however, remained behind.
Amon could practically feel the anger coming from the red-haired boy.
He had been ignored twice now, and his expression was getting increasingly ugly.
"You think you’re better than me because you ignored me?"
Amon looked at him with a blank expression.
Kael clenched his fists. "I’ll make sure I ruin you outside this screening for messing with me."
Amon stared at him for a few seconds as Kael turned around and walked away.
Amon blinked. ’People really have fragile egos.’
He wasn’t particularly worried about Kael.
Even if things became troublesome later, Amon could always ask Duke Edinburgh for help if a noble decided to cause serious problems for him.
Still, he mentally marked Kael as someone he needed to keep an eye on.
’I really hate this young master stereotypical behaviour.’
Amon sat down on the edge of the wall again and pulled out his phone.
He had barely returned to his game when another student finally reached the top.
This time, it was a girl.
Amon looked up as the girl landed on the wall using what appeared to be a makeshift flying device constructed from several magical components.
The moment her feet touched the ground, she immediately destroyed the device.
Pieces of metal and crystal scattered across the ground.
Amon recognized her immediately. ’Selene Arkwright.’
The girl looked toward him as well, but she remained silent for several seconds, simply studying him with her cold expression.
After a few moments, Selene turned around and walked away.
Amon watched her disappear before letting out a quiet sigh. ’What was that about?’
He shrugged and returned to his phone.
’Whatever.’
---
For the next three hours, Amon essentially wasted his time.
The students Helena had warned them about all managed to pass.
However, the majority of students weren’t nearly as successful.
Many had reached halfway before giving up, while others had exhausted their mana and been forced to stop.
By the time the three-hour limit was approaching, Amon estimated that only around seven hundred students had managed to pass.
’That’s way fewer than I expected.’
Amon looked down at the enormous crowd that remained below.
Hundreds of students were still standing around the base of the wall, some exhausted and others visibly frustrated by their failure.
Despite their effort, the clock reached the three-hour mark.
A loud bang suddenly echoed across the testing area. The students immediately looked toward the floating screen.
The same teacher who had introduced the test appeared once again. "Congratulations to everyone who successfully completed the Physical Test."
Her voice echoed throughout the area. "Those who failed will be escorted away from the testing area, while those who passed should prepare for the second test."
The screen changed. "Your next test will be the Mana Test."
The teacher continued explaining the rules.
"The Mana Test will be divided into four separate categories." Four words appeared on the screen.
"Total Mana. Mana Control. Mana Output and Elemental Affinity."
Amon listened carefully. ’I guess we will get to know a lot with this test.’
The teacher smiled. "The teachers stationed around the area will lead you to the testing grounds."
She pointed toward several instructors standing near the wall. "Please follow their instructions and remain with your assigned groups."
The floating screen turned off, and teachers immediately began organizing the students.
Amon followed his assigned group toward another section of the testing grounds.
They eventually arrived at a massive area filled with hundreds of makeshift tents.
Each tent contained a large crystal device that emitted a faint blue glow.
Amon slowed down as he looked around. ’These are the mana-measuring crystals.’
Hundreds of students were being directed toward different tents while teachers prepared the equipment.
Amon took a deep breath and looked at the crystal in the nearest tent.
He had already decided that he wasn’t going to hide most of his abilities during the screening.
The only question was how he could make his results impressive enough to attract attention without revealing everything he had.
Amon scratched his chin. ’How am I supposed to aura farm here?’
