Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 846: Smart Watch
Chapter 846: Chapter 846: Smart Watch
Catherine smiled faintly at his confidence, although the amusement in her eyes did little to soften the seriousness of her next words.
"It seems that neither of you truly understands human nature. Ivy is indeed a very sincere person, but that doesn’t mean she will be willing to give up the throne if we ask her to do so. She came to this planet to save her own planet, and the only way she believes she can accomplish that is by getting involved in politics."
She paused, allowing her words to sink in before continuing in a measured voice.
"Your advice might come from the goodness of your hearts, but it could ultimately cost her the entire planet. You must think carefully before offering her any suggestions, because even well-intentioned advice can have devastating consequences when you don’t fully understand another person’s circumstances."
Upon hearing this, Eugenia and Valer fell silent, their expressions turning thoughtful as they considered the implications of their mother’s words.
After a brief pause, Valer finally broke the silence.
"Mom, if that is the case, then what solution do you propose?"
A trace of ruthlessness flickered across Catherine’s eyes, transforming her usually gentle expression into something far more calculating.
"Well, the solution is quite simple. We will help her."
Eugenia and Valer exchanged a glance, and for a moment, their expressions seemed to convey the same thought:
’If you were going to say that anyway, why did you give us such a grand speech instead of simply repeating those words?’
Catherine noticed their expressions and couldn’t help laughing softly.
"However, we must help her in a way that prevents her from becoming dependent on the ministers. We also need to ensure that even if she eventually ascends the throne, she doesn’t lose herself in the pleasures and temptations that come with absolute power."
Upon hearing this, Eugenia rolled her eyes in exasperation.
"If we aren’t supposed to warn her at all, then what is the point of discussing these things? Besides, if Ivy is truly the kind of person who could lose herself in the pleasures of power, how could she ever deserve to find her own soulmate?"
Catherine sighed as she looked at her two children, who had grown up without truly experiencing the harsh realities of imperial life.
Their relatively peaceful upbringing had left them with little understanding of the darkness lurking beneath the palace’s magnificent exterior.
’These two really are rather naive when it comes to the imperial family.’
She shook her head gently before walking toward the bed.
Once she had settled down, she raised a hand to massage her temples, looking somewhat exhausted by the conversation.
"That isn’t what I mean. The imperial castle is cursed with negative energy. Anyone who enters that place gradually begins to lose their sanity and, little by little, their ability to control themselves. The people who sit on the throne rarely manage to rule for more than fifty years. Do you know why that happens?"
Eugenia and Valer exchanged a puzzled glance, waiting for their mother to explain the disturbing truth behind the imperial family’s history.
"It isn’t because they lack the ability to rule. Rather, the entire imperial family seems to be cursed, and we are destined to lose something precious. It might be our soulmates, our self-control, or, in some cases, both."
Catherine’s voice grew quieter, and a faint sadness settled over her face as she recalled her own painful experience.
"I lost my husband even though I had barely spent any time in that place and had never even ascended the throne. Others have lost their lives because they dared to reach for that very throne. The curse doesn’t seem to spare anyone, regardless of their abilities or intentions."
Eugenia and Valer clenched their fists, as they struggled to accept what they had just heard.
"Then, if we warn Ivy about the curse, will things change? Is it possible that she could avoid the same fate if she knew what awaited her?"
Catherine fell silent, unable to offer them a definite answer.
The truth was that she had never investigated the matter thoroughly enough to reach a conclusion.
The current king was deeply suspicious of her, and she had been forced to remain on the sidelines, carefully avoiding anything that might draw his attention.
She had never dared to openly voice her suspicions, let alone conduct an experiment to determine whether the curse could be broken.
Now, however, her children were asking questions she herself had never been brave enough to answer.
Taking a deep breath, Catherine looked at them and gently changed the subject.
"Let’s not discuss this any further for now. I heard that both of you have been investigating the mysterious restaurant, and that Ivy is the person behind it. Is that true?"
Eugenia and Valer nodded in confirmation.
Catherine fell silent, her thoughts drifting toward a possibility that had been troubling her for some time.
’Could Ivy really possess the Temporal Storage?’
The more she thought about it, the more plausible the possibility seemed.
However, if Ivy truly possessed such a treasure, why had she managed to remain so composed until now?
The Temporal Storage was an extraordinary treasure, but it was also a dangerous curse.
Although it could grant its owner unimaginable advantages, it possessed the ability to devour its host’s original personality completely, gradually turning them into an arrogant and self-absorbed person who believed themselves superior to everyone else.
Catherine drew another deep breath, her fingers pressing lightly against her temples as she considered the possible consequences.
’I can only hope that she will be able to cure me. Only then will I have enough reason to keep her close and guide her properly.’
Meanwhile, Ivy was making her way toward Catherine’s residence when a hovercar suddenly sped past her, its sleek metallic body reflecting the surrounding lights.
Ivy paid it little attention and continued walking, her mind occupied with other matters.
However, barely a second later, the same hovercar came to an abrupt stop beside her, its polished exterior gleaming beneath the artificial lights.
The door on Ivy’s side slid open, and a commanding yet strangely familiar voice emerged from within.
"Get in."
Ivy turned her head toward the vehicle, only to find Princess Rayami sitting inside.
To be honest, Rayami was undeniably beautiful.
Her long silver hair flowed down to her waist like a shimmering waterfall, while her pure blue eyes possessed a striking clarity that made them difficult to look away from.
Her delicate features and graceful appearance gave her the air of someone who had been blessed with extraordinary beauty from birth.
For a brief moment, even Ivy had to acknowledge that the woman before her was truly a beauty among beauties.
Princess Rayami blinked when she realized that Ivy wasn’t getting into the hovercar immediately. Instead, the woman stood beside the open door, staring at her face without saying a word.
A subtle feeling of smugness rose within Rayami, and the corners of her lips lifted slightly.
’Could it be that she has already been captivated by my beauty?’
She straightened her posture almost imperceptibly, allowing herself to enjoy the thought for another moment.
Her small, satisfied smile finally brought Ivy back to her senses, and she realized that she had been staring for longer than necessary.
Without displaying any unusual reaction, Ivy calmly stepped into the hovercar and settled into her seat.
The interior was spacious and luxurious, with soft seats and a faint fragrance lingering in the cool air.
The moment the door closed, Rayami turned toward her, her blue eyes narrowing slightly as she spoke in a direct and authoritative tone.
"You are connected to that restaurant, aren’t you?"
The instant those words reached her ears, Ivy smiled.
She finally understood why Rayami had approached her so suddenly.
For a fleeting moment, Ivy had genuinely wondered whether the princess had somehow uncovered her true identity.
The possibility had made her slightly wary, and she had prepared herself for the worst.
However, judging from Rayami’s question, it seemed that the princess had merely discovered her connection to the restaurant.
’It looks like I was worrying for nothing. What a coincidence.’
Yet, Ivy didn’t dare underestimate Rayami.
Despite her seemingly casual attitude, Ivy knew one thing about the princess, and that was that this woman could go to any lengths to achieve her goals.
Therefore, Ivy discreetly tapped her smartwatch and activated its recording function.
The smartwatches on Planet Astra were far more advanced than ordinary watches.
They allowed their users to communicate with anyone they wished, make video calls, monitor their personal information and fitness levels, and access numerous other applications.
