Zombie Apocalypse: Creation
Chapter 903: The Last Farewell
Just as Leyan was about to put a stop to it, everyone soon noticed Tianci’s pupil had turned red underneath her bangs.
"Hehe, you can’t get it. I’m the only one who gets to eat it."
Seeing Tianci eat the whole piece of roasted goose in front of the kid, everyone rolled their eyes as they didn’t say anything about it.
"Waaaaaaaa!"
As Ziling started crying, the redness in her pupils vanished as normal Tianci regained control of her body again.
"Ziling, don’t cry. Mommy really can’t feed you this, okay? Here, come drink your favorite milk instead."
After a short struggle, Tianci finally managed to clean up the mess alternate Tianci had left for her as her baby peacefully suckled on her nips.
"A bit rude of her to do that and leave," Anna commented as she watched the whole thing unfold before her eyes.
"Yeah..."
"W-What was that?" Houqin nervously asked as she looked a little shocked by the change she had witnessed.
"The other Tianci. Shouldn’t you already know about this?"
"I did?"
"Houqin, you don’t have early dementia, right?" Xiaoyun suddenly raised his concern as he thought back to her parents.
"O-Of course I don’t have it. I have perfect memory. I-I can remember everything from my work."
"Does Houqin’s family have a history of dementia?" Leyan asked curiously.
"That’s what it feels like talking to her dad."
"Houqin, that’s some serious stuff. You need to have it checked out once in a while to make sure you’re fine."
"I know..."
Just as the table had fallen into silence for a second, Nami spoke up again.
"Ahem, I almost forgot to announce: I got the app running already. You guys can download it from the link I sent in the chat."
"You already got an app working?"
"Mhm. I told you I already have everything running. It just needed some financial backing to launch and maintain the product."
"Looks like we need to check it out later..." Xiaoyun murmured as he continued to eat the food at the table.
---
An hour later...
As everyone sat on the sofa, everyone was looking down at their phone. The new app they had downloaded and registered.
"What can I do with this app?" Yuqi asked curiously.
"Right now, you can add other people if you know their username and code. There is no cost or messaging limit."
The second part quickly explained why people would use it. But they still felt it didn’t have much usefulness.
Especially not after they threw millions into this project. They didn’t want a messaging app that added anything new.
"Tomorrow, there will be more in-app services rolled out. Let’s add each other’s first... Here’s my code."
After everyone had added each other, Nami quickly created a group chat before sending a GIF of a dancing cat as the first message.
"Look, we can send pictures, emotes, and files. Much better than only sending text in the old group chat, isn’t it?"
No one answered Nami’s question as the chat was being spammed with endless emojis from everyone in the group chat.
"Hey! Stop spamming before you hit the message limit."
"There’s a message limit in this?’ Yueyue questioned, as she couldn’t believe something like this would exist in an instant messaging app.
"Next month there won’t be a limit, but right now. Anyone who sends more than one thousand messages within a day gets restricted.
"Lame."
The spam stopped as everyone started exploring the other parts of the app. Soon, one of them found the voice message button.
"Hey! I’m tired of cooking dinner every day."
As Leyan’s message popped up in the group chat, her voice quickly came out of Yuqi’s phone as she clicked on it.
"Hey! I’m tired of cooking dinner every day."
"Hey! I’m tired of cooking dinner every day."
"Hey! I’m tired of cooking dinner every day."
"Stop it! Nami, where’s the delete button?" Leyan asked as Xiaoyun’s wives started replying to her voice over and over again.
"Just hold the message and tab delete."
With a short demonstration, Leyan finally learned how to use it as peace finally returned to the living room.
"This is pretty impressive," Xiaoyun commented as he scrolled up and up with zero lag in the app.
"Thank you."
"Nami! Where’s the ability to send customized GIFs? And how do I import my GIFs from QQ?" Yueyue demanded.
"Not implemented yet. Give my team a week, and we’ll get it working."
The answer disappointed Yueyue a little, but she didn’t complain as she kept playing around with the app on her phone.
"Nami, is this encrypted?" Yuqi suddenly asked.
"The best encryption you’ll ever see. Even better than the government email system currently."
"Really?"
"Mhm. I hired three different cryptography experts for this. They spent months perfecting this for the apps."
"Sounds like a potential contract for the government lining up for you, Nami," Kate murmured as she patted her on the back.
"Ouch."
"Oops hehe..."
"Yuqi, does the government need a messaging app? I can develop a whole separate one with my team with even more stringent encryption."
"That would be nice... But I don’t want to spend the money on it. The paper and email system is already enough for now."
"Boohoo..."
---
"Wakey wakey."
"Hm?"
As Xiaoyun opened his eyes, Leyan was standing before him as usual. It was already morning as the sun shone through the window.
"You said you needed to wake up early to prepare for the trip. Come on, don’t be a lazy piggy."
"I’m getting up."
Slowly, he sat up in bed. Looking around, no one was near him despite the stains indicating he had one last fun with his wives.
"Go take a shower first."
"Okay..."
Getting up and walking over to the bathroom, Xiaoyun could hear the sound of water coming from inside.
Opening the door, he saw a small bit of fog coming from the shower area. Upon a closer look, it was Yuqi, out of all people.
"You’re awake early."
"Have a morning meeting today... You heading for your trip?"
"Yeah."
Neither of them spoke up again as they took a shower in silence. They had already talked more than enough last night.
The plan was set in stone.
But as Yuqi was about to head out first, she left one last message.
"You probably should say goodbye to the kids."
"I will."
After freshening up, Xiaoyun headed back over to his bedroom. Looking through the closet, he soon decided on a pair of basic military clothes.
In the mirror, he was indistinguishable from the average soldier. The most basic, with no rank badges or any officer uniforms.
Just plain green camo.
"Crap, I need to pack some clothes for the next few days."
Xiaoyun quickly headed back over to his closet, taking out two extra pairs of clothes before shoving them into his military bag.
"Should be good. Now I can head out."
With socks on, he finally headed back out into the hallway before heading downstairs to the living room.
"Took you long enough... Houqin is already eating breakfast."
"Let me go say goodbye to the kids first."
Leyan didn’t hurry him any further as he took a left turn into the guest hallway, walking straight into the kids’ room.
Inside, all of them were still peacefully asleep. Too early to wake up, as they all slept in their own cribs.
"Yongyi, don’t be like me... Be a responsible brother, okay?"
With a gentle kiss on the forehead, Xiaoyun moved over to his two younger sisters. Both of them had a bit of drool, seeming to be dreaming of something tasty.
"Lianrong and Qiaolan, listen to your mommy, okay?"
The whisper caused both of them to flinch for a second, but they quickly changed back to normal, peacefully sleeping in their crib.
"Maybe I need to suggest to Leyan moving them to a bed soon..."
After kissing his three kids on the forehead, Xiaoyun turned over to the toddlers, who were still barely old enough to walk.
"Xuanhua, don’t misbehave while I’m gone, okay?"
To his surprise, the baby nodded its head. After blinking a few times, he quickly realized it was just a coincidence.
"Weird... Bingbing and Wenwen, stay strong and stay safe, okay?"
Two kisses back-to-back, Xiaoyun looked towards the last toddler in the house. The one that he had known for less than half a year.
The closest one for the past weeks at home. From walking in the backyard to playing with her in spare time.
"Sorry for leaving so soon... Daddy will come back home safely to see you again."
With one last kiss, Xiaoyun exited the room as he closed the door, heading back over to the kitchen where Houqin and Leyan were both eating.
"Where’s Yuqi?"
"She’s already out of the house... You want me to wake everyone up?" Leyan asked as she quickly got up to give him his bowl of noodles.
"No need. Let them sleep a little longer."
"You sure? This is probably the last time they get to see you for a long time." Leyan quietly murmured.
"I think they had enough of me last night."
As Xiaoyun answered back, Houqin’s face suddenly started to blush as she thought back to what happened last night.
