Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Inflicting Depression Gives me Points
Chapter 94: Dueling You Feels Like an Insult to My Personality
"He figured it out...!"
The moment Chazz's words landed, Alexis, Zane, Bastion, and the others felt their expressions shift involuntarily. Brows furrowed all around.
Because they had all arrived at the same conclusion.
Rowan's strategy was built around monsters like the Ojama, which could summon five tokens in a single turn, forming an instant defensive wall.
The real killing power, meanwhile, was buried in his trap cards, ready to spring on Chazz when the moment came.
Looking back at the four decks Rowan had used so far, three of them shared a common thread: heavy trap card setups.
Even his Shadow HERO deck, which wasn't completely dependent on lockdown traps, still packed plenty of Widespread Ruin and Wall of Disruption to grind down opposing attack strength.
If Chazz had already guessed Rowan's strategy, it was entirely possible he had prepared a specific countermeasure.
The expressions of Alexis, Jaden, and the others grew noticeably heavier.
"Let me show you the ace I've been scheming up just to beat you. Activate set card! Continuous Trap: Royal Decree!"
A moment later, as if in direct answer to their fears, Chazz smiled with obvious satisfaction and gestured toward one of the two face-down cards on his field.
The trap flipped to reveal an illustration of a weathered brown castle, an aging king standing at its battlements proclaiming a royal decree.
"As long as this card remains on the field, all other Trap Cards' effects are negated!"
"In other words, those two face-down cards you worked so hard to set? They're completely worthless against me."
"That's bad."
The moment Royal Decree appeared, Alexis, Bastion, and the others felt the color drain from their faces.
Even Professor Crowler buried his head in both hands.
Mamma mia! Was the failing student boy actually going to lose?!
Chancellor Sheppard's expression turned grim as well.
"That's it, Chazz!"
The mood on North Academy's side was a complete reversal.
Principal Foster immediately broke into a grin.
"Chazz! Go! Go!"
The North Academy students erupted in cheers.
"Battle Phase! Armed Dragon LV5 attacks Ojama Yellow! Let's start by cleaning up one of these trash monsters!"
"ROOAAR!"
At Chazz's command, the crimson dragon clad in dark gunmetal armor let out a thunderous roar.
Missile-like spines launched from its body, trailing smoke as they screamed across the field and slammed directly into one of the small, absurd mechanical yellow creatures on Rowan's side.
The thing detonated in a burst of fire and smoke, gone in an instant.
What remained was a single pair of red mechanical underwear, which launched out from the explosion and, under Chazz's increasingly appalled gaze, landed directly on his face with a wet slap.
Then, with a muffled boom, it too exploded into a puff of fake flames and smoke.
Chazz's Life Points ticked down from 4000 to 3700, a loss of 300.
"What the hell was THAT?!"
Chazz's face had gone green, his composure fully crumbling as he rounded on Rowan.
Clearly, the Ojama Token Rowan had summoned carried some additional effect of its own.
"I'm not sure where you got the confidence that you'd already read my strategy, but I'll give you a small taste of payback for the assumption."
Rowan smiled with visible, deliberate obnoxiousness and snapped his fingers.
"Ojama Yellow's special effect: while it and its Ojama tokens are in battle, all battle damage I take becomes zero. And when each one is destroyed, you take 300 points of damage."
"Meaning these four Ojama tokens currently on my field? Once they're all wiped out, that's 1200 damage coming your way."
"Are you serious... what an annoying effect!"
Chazz stared at the four ridiculous little red-underwear-clad creatures on Rowan's field, his jaw tight.
Just thinking about four more pairs of mechanical underwear being hurled into his face made him feel deeply, personally offended.
[Ding! Chazz's Emotion Points +300!]
"As expected, those Ojama Tokens Rowan summoned are absolutely not normal cards..."
In the stands, Alexis, Bastion, and the others watched with twin expressions of exasperation, inner commentary already flowing freely.
The effect was quietly vicious, erecting an instant defensive barrier while chipping away at the opponent's Life Points.
And the method of destruction, flinging a pair of mechanical red underwear at whoever broke one, then having it explode in their face... was genuinely difficult to deal with on a psychological level.
All they wanted to tell Rowan at that moment was:
Playing cards with you feels like a personal insult.
"Don't think your petty tricks are enough to win this! Rowan, you're about to witness true terror!"
Chazz held his composure by pure stubbornness, jaw clenched, and pointed toward the crimson armored dragon standing on his field.
"Activate Armed Dragon LV5's special effect! At the end of a Battle Phase in which it destroyed an opponent's monster, I can send it to the Graveyard and Special Summon Armed Dragon LV7 from my hand or Deck!"
"Witness the greatest monster in my Deck! Armed Dragon LV7!"
"ROOAAR!"
The moment Chazz's voice fell, the mid-sized crimson and gunmetal armored dragon on his field began to pulse with a column of deep scarlet light rising from beneath it.
The silhouette expanded, shifting, transforming.
What emerged was enormous.
Burning red scales. Massive dark gunmetal plating.
A face twisted with ferocity. And at its back, a pair of enormous axe-blade wings cutting the air.
Compared to LV5, this creature was in another category entirely. Larger. More brutal. More terrifying in every dimension.
Armed Dragon LV7 Level: 7 Attribute: Wind ATK: 2800 DEF: 1000
