Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Inflicting Depression Gives me Points
Chapter 131: I’ve Never Heard Such a Shameless Request
"I send the second Level 2 Fairy-Type monster in my hand, Diviner of the Herald, to the Graveyard, negating and destroying Infernalvania!"
Among the three cards remaining in Rowan's hand, another card bearing the image of a shrine maiden figure dissolved into motes of light as he revealed it and spoke, sent off to the Graveyard.
"Bzzzz!!"
The white metallic sphere body of Herald of Perfection, standing on the field before him, lit up once more with that holy white and green radiance.
"Herald's Radiance!"
"Crack!!"
As the holy light burst forth, falling upon the sinister castle and its surrounding walls and small fortresses that had only just risen up, the castle cracked apart in an instant.
With a final groaning crash, everything shattered into particles and vanished from sight.
"You damned bastard, how dare you do that to my Undead Kingdom...!"
Camula glared at Rowan with dark, seething eyes, gritting her teeth.
Even the pair of slightly pointed fangs at the corners of her mouth peeked faintly into view.
[Ding. Camula's Emotion Points +600!]
"Well then! Let's see just how many more Fairy-Type monsters you've got left in that measly two-card hand of yours!"
Camula pulled a card from the three in her hand and slapped it sideways onto her own Duel Disk.
"I Summon Vampire Bat in Defense Position!"
"Skreee!!"
Amid a faint glow, the familiar figure of a small, diamond-eyed, crimson bat monster took shape, its wings folded around it in a defensive stance, letting out a strange cry as it appeared atop the towering card silhouette that had materialized on the field before Camula.
[Vampire Bat] [Level: 3] [Attribute: DARK] [ATK: 800] [DEF: 1200]
"Next, from my hand, I activate the Spell Card, Vampire's Desire!"
Camula pulled out another card and set it onto her Duel Disk.
A dark Spell Card, its face depicting a shadowy vampire figure surrounded by swarms of bats, materialized on the field before her.
"Vampire's Desire?!" Bastion's expression tensed at once. As the student with the deepest knowledge base at the academy, he'd naturally seen this card's effect before.
It was a card that could send a monster with "Vampire" in its name straight from the deck to the Graveyard, an effect every bit as strong as Foolish Burial.
Clearly, Camula was planning to use it alongside the rest of her hand to revive whatever Vampire monster she ended up sending to the Graveyard with it.
"Hmph, this card's effect targets one monster I control, then sends a Vampire monster of a different Level from my Deck to the Graveyard. Until the end of the turn, the targeted monster's Level changes to match the Level of the Vampire monster sent to the Graveyard."
The smug curl at the corner of Camula's mouth was gone now, replaced by gritted teeth as she addressed Rowan.
"The Level doesn't really matter. All I need is for the Vampire monster sent to the Graveyard to be the one I actually want."
"You already know exactly what monster I'm about to send to the Graveyard, don't you?"
"If you've got the guts, go ahead and negate this Spell Card of mine too. Let's see it."
"Not good, Camula's only got one card left in hand. It has to be something that can revive a monster from the Graveyard!"
Alexis's face changed at once, having guessed Camula's plan as well.
Even though Rowan had Herald of Perfection out on the field with 2800 DEF, its ATK was still only 1800. If Camula managed to summon a troublesome monster like Vampire's Curse again, with 2000 ATK and the ability to revive itself even after being destroyed, it would drag the whole situation into a stalemate.
But before Camula's mounting confidence as she stared down Rowan could peak into a full smile, she saw Rowan's own smile grow even brighter, as he pulled yet another card from the two remaining in his hand and held it up to show her.
On it was the image of a small creature wearing a space helmet.
"Since you're so sincerely begging me to negate it, I'll graciously grant your wish."
"I activate Herald of Perfection's special effect, sending the Level 1 Fairy-Type monster in my hand, Eva, to the Graveyard, to negate and destroy your Spell Card, Vampire's Desire!"
As Rowan's gesture and words fell together, the twin-sphered body of Herald of Perfection on the field before him radiated with holy light once again, instantly dispelling the Spell Card releasing its dark aura on the field before Camula.
It shattered into particles and vanished from sight once more.
"Ne... negated and destroyed again?!"
Alexis, Chazz, and Bastion all watched the scene with blank looks on their faces, cold sweat trickling down each of them in turn.
Even just putting themselves in Camula's shoes for a moment was enough to send a shiver crawling up their scalps.
Out of Camula's six starting cards, four had already been forcibly negated and destroyed by Rowan, leaving her with nothing but one lonely, weak monster on the field, and that one revival card still sitting uselessly in her hand for the moment.
As for just how hellish this new deck of Rowan's really was, all they could say was that its "humanity content" was running dangerously low.
"There... there's still another Fairy-Type monster?!"
Camula gritted her teeth so hard watching this that she nearly bit clean through her own vampire fangs.
[Ding. Camula's Emotion Points +800!]
Hearing that pleasant System notification chime, the smile on Rowan's face only grew brighter and sunnier still.
He even decided to lay down another brick on the road to spiking Camula's blood pressure even further.
"I activate the special effect of Eva, the Level 1 Fairy-Type monster I just discarded to the Graveyard!"
Rowan raised the Duel Disk on his left wrist, and a faint glow revealed the translucent image of a small, space-helmeted creature above it.
"When this card is sent to the Graveyard, I can banish up to two Fairy-Type monsters, other than this card, from my field or Graveyard. Doing so lets me add that many Level 2 or lower Fairy-Type monsters with different names from my Deck to my hand!"
