Chapter 479 - 423: Become a Lord Soon

  • Next Chapter

The Lingyong Realm Heaven, torn in two, stretched across the void like an ancient Jade Disc cleaved by a giant axe. Its jagged, uneven edges were still slowly leaking Source Essence.

Qi Yun turned around. As far as his eyes could see, there was only dead silence. The once lush, verdant mountains had been reduced to scorched, blackened rubble that floated and drifted aimlessly in the nothingness. The river valleys that used to flow with Spiritual Springs were now nothing but dried, cracked riverbeds, with turbulent currents of Earth Fire, wind, and water surging from the depths of the fissures.

Countless towering Divine Palaces, bustling cities, and peaceful villages were long gone. Only a few fragments of ruined walls floated silently in the void, bearing witness to the living beings that once inhabited this place. But most things left not even a fragment behind—they had completely returned to nothingness.

Trillions of living beings, caught in the terrifying aftershocks of the True Monarchs’ battle, did not even have the time to let out a wail before they, along with their homes, their faith, and every trace of their existence, were reduced to a part of the primal chaos. Floating corpses maintained their postures from the final moments of their lives—some running, some crawling, some huddled together, their faces already blurred beyond recognition. Only empty eye sockets remained, staring blankly at this void that no longer belonged to them. Remnant souls that had yet to completely dissipate let out silent wails in the nothingness, only to be swept up by the raging Earth Fire, wind, and water, suffering total annihilation.

Qi Yun could sense that the Incense and Wish Power within this Heaven and Earth—once so dense it was nearly impenetrable, a vast torrent carrying the faith and prayers of trillions of beings—was now completely gone. Only the faintest, thinnest surviving fragments of Wish Power still drifted in the void, like kites with broken strings, helpless and destined to eventually return to nothingness. This once vibrant, prosperous Realm Heaven had entirely degenerated into a land of death.

Qi Yun remained silent and withdrew his gaze. This was the aftermath of a clash between True Monarchs. Even if they were merely caught in the crossfire, even if they were not the intended targets, it was an apocalyptic disaster for this Heaven and Earth and the creatures dwelling upon it.

In the peach grove.

Desolate Halberd True Monarch sat cross-legged, his upper body completely bare. The coarse cloth robe he always wore had long been reduced to powder during the fierce battle, revealing a physique that would inspire awe in any living creature. At this moment, however, his body was covered in a crisscrossing network of scars and wounds. Some wounds were deep enough to show bone, while others were as fine as a strand of hair, yet all of them exuded an indelible, eerie aura. Those were the marks left by the Coffin-Bearing True Monarch’s attacks. The Daoist Intent of "Destruction" contained within them was still trying to erode his physical body and Dao Fruit.

His brows tightly furrowed, he raised his right hand. Curving his five fingers slightly, he slowly reached into a hideous gash below his right ribs. The wound was a full three inches long, its edges jagged as if torn open by some brute force. A bizarre, dark-green mist still seeped from it, emitting a faint SIZZLE. The instant Desolate Halberd True Monarch’s fingers entered the wound, his frown deepened, and veins bulged slightly on his forehead. It was a pain that even a True Monarch could not easily endure. But he did not pause. His fingers continued to probe deeper, as if searching for something.

A moment later, his fingertips touched a cold, slippery foreign object that seemed to carry a faint pulsation. The next second, his fingers violently clenched!

With a soft TEAR, he pulled his fingers from the wound. Pinched between his fingertips was a strand of thick, dark-green mist, as thin as a hair and about three inches long! The dense mist was like a living creature, frantically twisting and struggling at his fingertips in an attempt to break free! Every writhe it made gave off a terrifying aura capable of making a Great Master’s Divine Soul tremble, as if it wanted to corrode and destroy everything it touched!

Desolate Halberd True Monarch stared at the bizarre mist between his fingers, a flash of disgust crossing his eyes. With a cold snort, his fingers abruptly applied force!

CRACK! The eerie mist, which would have rendered any Great Master helpless, shattered spectacularly between his fingers like fragile glass! Countless tiny, dark-green motes of light scattered in all directions, only to be swept up by the domineering aura naturally radiating from his body and completely annihilated into nothingness.

As this strange mist was snuffed out, the crisscrossing wounds on Desolate Halberd True Monarch’s body began to heal at a visible rate. Muscles wriggled, bones and tendons reconnected, and skin reformed. In just a few short breaths, that awe-inspiring physique had fully recovered, no longer showing the slightest trace of the brutal fight. His aura also climbed steadily, rapidly returning to its peak state from the exhaustion and weakness of the previous battle. The pitch-black Great Halberd stood by his side. Sensing its master’s recovery, it let out a low, joyful HUM.

Desolate Halberd True Monarch slowly stood up. He tilted his head back and looked at the completely Broken Lingyong Realm Heaven, the massive rift stretching across the void, and the countless floating ruins and corpses. A very faint trace of pity flashed through his eyes.

"Even the Master of the Ancient Coffin was hired to take action..." he muttered softly, his voice carrying an indescribably complex tone. "It seems those old guys really can’t wait any longer."

He took a deep breath, inhaling like a giant whale drawing in water. He drew all the remaining Spiritual Qi and Law Fragments in the surroundings into his body before slowly exhaling. He then turned to look at Qi Yun, who was standing in the void not far away. The dark blue figure was standing at the edge of the massive rift that had torn Spirit Yong apart. Cyan Gold divine light flowed within his eyes, as if he wanted to brand every last trace of that terrifying battlefield deep into his Heart and Spirit.
