"I’m totally fine. But what about you, Ivy? Your wound must hurt a lot."

Ivy Sherwood shook her head. "I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt. It’s almost healed."

"How could it heal that easily? You have no idea, when I woke up and saw I was in a hospital, I thought I was a goner."

"And when I woke up, I actually saw Miles Mercer! You have no idea how scary he was. He was just staring at me with those eyes. I almost fainted from fright again."

Nina Scott hadn’t expected Miles Mercer to actually stay by her side the whole time.

For some reason, the moment she opened her eyes and saw him, she felt a strange sense of security.

’It was as if his presence meant that no matter what happened, I’d be okay. How weird.’

’See? People are so easily moved. It must be a misconception on my part.’

Ivy Sherwood laughed as she listened to Nina’s vivid description, able to picture the scene perfectly.

Although her third brother didn’t seem as reliable as her eldest, he was actually very serious.

If you asked him to do something, he’d become single-minded about it and would definitely see it through.

"Then I heard about what happened to you. I was scared to death when they told me. That damn Charlie Rhodes, how could a man like that live in this world for so long?"

"He was just incorrigible. After that whole thing with Thea Sherwood was exposed, the internet was full of people bashing Thea Sherwood, but you barely saw anyone blaming Charlie Rhodes. It makes me so mad."

"I hope Charlie Rhodes gets reincarnated as a stray dog in his next life so he can get a taste of his own medicine for all the evil he’s done. Speaking of which, Ivy, you basically got rid of a public menace. Who knows how many other girls would have been hurt otherwise!"

With Nina Scott there talking with Ivy Sherwood, Miles Mercer could also relax.

Nina Scott had quite the sharp tongue. The way she cursed people out was so clean and direct. It seemed that whenever he was with her, his gaze would uncontrollably land on her.

’Among the three people in the hospital room, I seem to be the third wheel.’ Miles Mercer closed the door for them, letting them chat inside while he stood guard outside.

Charlie Rhodes must have been tired of living, daring to go after his sister.

It was a shame Charlie Rhodes died too soon. He hadn’t even paid the price, and Ivy Sherwood was wrongly branded a murderer. ’Heaven is so unfair.’

It was infuriating that Charlie Rhodes just died like that. A person like him deserved a much crueler end!

Miles Mercer stood guard outside, not allowing anyone to approach. However, someone still came.

"Miles."

"Uncle Summers?" Miles Mercer looked at the person walking over.

It was none other than Jason Summers.

"Miles, I heard about what happened. Is Ivy... all right?"

"Thank you for your concern, Uncle Summers. She’s fine now." Miles Mercer didn’t know what Jason Summers had done; not even Old Master Mercer knew. To Miles, Jason Summers was just a decent older man.

"Why are you here, Uncle Summers?" Miles Mercer looked at Jason Summers. Because he didn’t care much for family matters, he naturally didn’t know about the history between Jason Summers and his aunt.

"I’ve been keeping an eye on Ivy lately. She looks so much like Winter. When I heard about this, of course I had to come and see for myself." Jason Summers put on an expression of great distress.

His eyes were filled with pain, and he looked incredibly sincere.

’I’ve already cleaned up all my tracks. Even if they investigate, they won’t be able to trace anything back to me.’

Although almost everyone in the country knew Ivy Sherwood was of the Mercer family’s bloodline, the news hadn’t yet spread abroad.

Coupled with Jason Summers’s intentional concealment and the people he had planted within the Elandran royal family, the Princess was still unaware of this matter.

He had to do something before they found out.

"Charlie Rhodes is an animal. Thankfully, my little sister is fine, but her emotions might still be unstable. Uncle Summers, you should head back first. Also, don’t tell my grandfather about this. His health is poor, and I’m afraid he won’t be able to take it."

Jason Summers nodded. "As long as she’s okay. If there’s anything you need my help with, don’t hesitate to ask."

"Alright." Miles Mercer nodded.

But Jason Summers showed no intention of leaving. Miles Mercer was puzzled. "Uncle Summers, you’re not going back yet?"

Jason Summers said, "I want to wait a little longer."

"Why are you so concerned about my little sister?" Miles Mercer asked, confused.

Jason Summers sighed. "I’m afraid you don’t know this, but your aunt and I... we once had a relationship. Ivy might be my daughter."

"What?" Miles Mercer couldn’t believe it. ’My little sister is Jason Summers’s daughter?’

’No wonder Grandpa dislikes Jason Summers so much.’ Now that he heard this, Miles Mercer disliked him too.

’It’s possible my aunt left without a word and lived under a different name precisely because of Jason Summers.’

Miles Mercer’s expression turned cold. "It doesn’t matter whose daughter my little sister is. She is a member of the Mercer Family and has nothing to do with anyone else. Uncle Summers, you should go back. And don’t come here again."

Jason Summers deliberately feigned a heartbroken expression. "I know you all hate me because of what happened with Winter. But we just had a normal argument back then. I never expected Winter to be so hurt that she would just leave."

"I’ve never married in my entire life. Winter is still in my heart. Regardless, the fact that Ivy is my daughter cannot be changed. I’m not asking for her to acknowledge me. I just want to be able to watch her from a distance. That’s enough for me."

Miles Mercer looked at Jason Summers. The man really seemed to be having a hard time.

Still, Miles Mercer didn’t let him in. It wouldn’t be good if he upset his little sister and Nina Scott.

However, Jason Summers just stood there outside, looking like he had no intention of leaving.

Inside the hospital room, Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott were still chatting.

Meanwhile, Quentin Blackwood was sitting in a police station. People stood all around him, but he was the only one seated. His face was cold, and no one else dared to breathe too loudly. The atmosphere in the room was incredibly oppressive.

He was like the King of Hell come to claim souls. With a single command, everyone present would drop dead.

When a man this powerful got angry, the consequences were extremely severe.

Mrs. Rhodes and Michael Rhodes were at the side. Mrs. Rhodes had been dead set on causing trouble for Ivy Sherwood, but the moment Quentin Blackwood arrived, her legs went weak.

The Rhodes Family’s business was large, yes, but even ten Rhodes Families combined probably couldn’t contend with Quentin Blackwood.

Nevertheless, Mrs. Rhodes mustered her courage and came forward. She began to speak.

"President Blackwood, there has to be some justice in this matter, right? That Ivy Sherwood killed my husband. Murder is against the law, isn’t it? Shouldn’t Ivy Sherwood give me an explanation? Even if you’re rich and powerful, you can’t just bully us common folk like this, can you?"

Quentin Blackwood’s eyes were dark, glinting with a cold light. "You think you’re worthy of demanding an explanation from me?"

As far as Quentin Blackwood was concerned, this matter wasn’t over. He hadn’t even gone after the Rhodes Family yet, and they had the audacity to come here demanding an explanation.

That single sentence was enough to drain all the color from Mrs. Rhodes’s face. If her son hadn’t been holding her up, she might have collapsed to her knees.

"So my husband deserved to die? He can’t have died for no reason, can he?"

"He didn’t deserve to die?" Quentin Blackwood’s gaze was as sharp as a blade. His entire demeanor was savage and terrifying.

Even though Charlie Rhodes was dead, this matter was far from over!
