Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 432: Quentin Blackwood Infiltrates the Mercer Family as a Servant
’I feel like I’ve seen this face somewhere before.’
’It seems a little familiar, but I can’t quite place it.’
’And this fragrance filling the room, this familiar scent...’
The King stared at Ivy Sherwood. Seeing this, the Princess quickly moved to block his line of sight.
"Since you’re here to pick me up, let’s head back now." The Princess wore a stiff smile.
"Sis, Ivy Sherwood’s perfume isn’t finished yet. Why don’t you wait until it’s done before you take it with you?" Ayre said.
"No, I’ll have someone pick it up tomorrow." The Princess pulled the King along, looking a bit rushed.
But the King wasn’t in a hurry. "It’s fine, I can wait for you."
"It’s okay, I’m done here. Let’s go." The Princess took the King and prepared to leave.
The King didn’t say anything, but his gaze lingered on Ivy Sherwood’s face for a moment longer.
He kept feeling a sense of familiarity, but he just couldn’t put his finger on it.
It was as if a shadow flickered past in his mind, but he couldn’t quite grasp it.
"Why did you suddenly decide to pick me up today? You’re not usually this nice to me," the Princess remarked after they left.
But the King seemed lost in thought and didn’t answer.
The Princess called his name, and only then did the King snap out of it. "I just happened to be free, so I came. I didn’t even accompany you to Ayre’s place. It wouldn’t be good if people started speculating."
A flicker of something crossed the Princess’s eyes, but she didn’t let it show.
’That incident was so long ago. He hasn’t remembered that woman for so many years. He definitely won’t remember her now.’
...
Ivy Sherwood looked out the door. "It’s just like the rumors say. The King and Princess seem very much in love."
They were an internationally exemplary couple, extremely famous. All the news online said they were deeply devoted to each other.
Ayre said, "They’re alright, I guess. But the King is genuinely good to my sister."
Ivy Sherwood nodded. "Yes, the King seems like a nice person."
Ayre said, "Not necessarily. My brother-in-law is actually quite difficult to get along with. It’s probably because of his status. He’s pretty cold to everyone, but that’s understandable."
"Really? I thought he was quite handsome and looked rather young." An image of the King’s face flashed through Ivy Sherwood’s mind. ’He seems pretty decent,’ she thought, ’but with his high and mighty status, it’s not like we’ll ever cross paths.’
"Of course he is. Just a tiny bit less handsome than me," Ayre said confidently.
"Pfft." Ivy Sherwood scoffed.
She was telling the truth. The King was genuinely handsome, especially in person—even more so than on video.
"What’s that supposed to mean? Are you looking down on me?"
"Of course not. You’re not bad either. I’m sure countless people adore you."
"Naturally." Ayre had that much confidence.
"What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?" Ayre looked at Ivy Sherwood. With her great personality and easygoing nature, she must have admirers.
Ivy Sherwood paused. "We broke up."
"Huh? Why?"
"Mr. Ayre, since when did you become such a gossip?" Ivy Sherwood didn’t stop the work she was doing with her hands.
Ayre said, "Well, it must be his loss, then."
Ivy Sherwood smiled. "I think you’re right."
As they chatted, Ivy Sherwood continued making the perfume. She had perfect control over the ratios. Ayre watched the focused woman. ’Looking at her like this, she isn’t ugly at all,’ he thought. ’In fact, she has a very unique kind of beauty.’
He had seen many women from Calypsos, and they were all beautiful, but none of them had the same kind of aura as Ivy Sherwood.
...
Quentin Blackwood’s plane had also landed in Elandra. He’d already had someone look up the Mercer Family’s address and rushed over the moment he could.
However, the Mercer estate wasn’t so easy to get into. Quentin Blackwood knew that if the Mercer Family saw him, they would definitely not let him in.
So, Quentin Blackwood found a way. He disguised himself as one of the Mercer Family’s servants and snuck in quietly.
Although New Year’s in Elandra was different from in Calypsos, the Mercers were all from Calypsos. With New Year’s Eve being the next day, the house had already been thoroughly cleaned and beautifully decorated, with many lanterns hanging in the courtyard.
Quentin Blackwood saw everyone in the Mercer Family, but not Ivy Sherwood.
’Is she not feeling well from the long flight and resting in her room?’
But Quentin Blackwood didn’t know which room was Ivy’s, and it wasn’t easy for him to sneak upstairs.
Quentin Blackwood was wearing a work uniform and a hat, the brim of which he pulled down low.
Miles Mercer was busy and needed someone to move things. He scanned the area and saw someone about to head upstairs.
"You, you, you," Miles called out.
Quentin Blackwood’s steps faltered. ’Have I been discovered?’
He lowered his head, pulling his hat down even further. Miles said, "Yeah, you. Come give me a hand. Carry this upstairs. We’re replacing this sofa so our little sister can be more comfortable."
Quentin Blackwood felt a surge of joy. ’Does this mean I can go upstairs and see Ivy?’
Quentin Blackwood immediately went to move it. It was heavy, but he was more than willing.
"Wait," Miles called out again. The others stopped with him. Quentin Blackwood kept his head down.
Miles circled Quentin Blackwood twice. "You’re acting weird. You look kind of shifty."
Quentin Blackwood: "..."
Miles said, "Lift your head and let me see you."
Quentin Blackwood was naturally unwilling. Although the injuries on his face hadn’t healed, Miles would surely recognize him in an instant.
Quentin Blackwood didn’t move. Connor Mercer walked over from the side. "What’s wrong? All I hear is you making a racket all day."
"Connor, this guy is weird. He’s wearing a hat and won’t show his face. Let’s just take him down!"
Connor Mercer looked at the man. ’Why does he seem a little familiar?’
He called out tentatively, "Quentin Blackwood?"
The man’s silhouette looked so much like that Quentin Blackwood guy.
Only then did Miles lean in for a closer look at his face. "Holy shit, it really is you!"
"Someone, help me throw him out!" Miles immediately rolled up his sleeves.
"What are you doing here? Why can’t you just go away? How dare you sneak in here dressed like this! What are you planning to do to my sister?!"
"I’m not planning to do anything. I just need to see Ivy Sherwood." Since he had been discovered, Quentin Blackwood dropped the act.
"Are you kidding me? Do you think you can see my sister just because you want to?"
"I just want to say a few words to her. Even if she doesn’t want to see me, shouldn’t you at least ask her first?"
Quentin Blackwood was desperate to see Ivy Sherwood, more so than ever before.
"Give up. She won’t see you. You dare to sneak in here like this? Aren’t you afraid my older brother will break your legs?"
Miles knew his older brother had beaten the guy up, but seeing Quentin Blackwood’s face now, he almost wanted to laugh.
’But showing up with a face like that... he’s not trying to play the pity card, is he?’
Miles continued, "Even if you show up like this, our little sister won’t feel sorry for you. Besides, she isn’t even home. Now get out!"
