Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 415: President Blackwood Came to His Senses
The sky was already bright when Ivy Sherwood woke up.
Only then did she realize she was in someone’s arms.
Her face was pressed against a feverishly hot chest, and she was being held tightly by the man.
Ivy was still groggy, but the moment she lifted her head and saw his face, she abruptly shoved Quentin Blackwood away.
Quentin was already on the edge of the bed, so her push sent him tumbling straight to the floor.
"Ugh..." Quentin grunted.
Ivy scrambled out of bed. "I didn’t do it on purpose! Who told you to climb into my bed!"
"Are you sure I was the one who climbed into your bed?" Quentin retorted.
Only then did Ivy remember that Quentin had fainted yesterday, and she and the doctor had carried him to the bed.
’But how did I end up in bed, lying here wrapped in Quentin’s arms?’
"It’s morning now. You can leave!" Ivy decided not to pursue the matter.
"Ivy, there’s a lot I want to say to you."
"You don’t have to say anything. We’ll pretend last night never happened, and don’t ever appear before me again. If you harass me again when you’re drunk, I’ll call the police!" Ivy threatened bluntly.
But as Quentin looked at Ivy’s blushing face, he found her incredibly cute.
Ivy pointed at the door. "Out. Now. Immediately!"
Just then, however, a knock came from the door. "Little Sis, are you awake? Want to go get breakfast together?"
It was Miles Mercer, and he was right outside the door.
Perhaps due to his poor circulation, Quentin’s face was still a little pale. After a night’s rest, the redness in his eyes had faded.
Quentin said, "Are you sure you want me to go out now?"
Ivy faltered. ’Why did my brother have to show up now, of all times? Couldn’t he have been a few minutes later?!’
If Quentin left now, he would run right into Miles. Then, no amount of explaining would get her out of this mess.
"Little Sis? Don’t tell me she’s still asleep?" Miles muttered. "That can’t be right. She’s usually up before anyone else."
’Could it be...’ Miles’s eyes widened. ’Don’t tell me Little Sis did something drastic?’
With that thought, Miles knocked even harder.
"Little Sis, are you okay? Little Sis, open the door!"
Ivy grew anxious, glancing at the man who shouldn’t have been there.
Ivy had no choice but to shove Quentin toward the bathroom. "Hide in here for now! Wait until my brother leaves, then you can come out!"
Quentin: "..."
He was being shoved into hiding like some shameful secret lover.
Only after giving her warning did Ivy dare to open the door. Feigning a yawn as if she’d just woken up, she said, "Brother, what are you doing here at this hour?"
"I came to get you for breakfast, didn’t I?" Seeing that Ivy was alright, Miles let out a sigh of relief. He had noticed her mood was off for the past two days and had been worried she might...
"Alright, let’s go get breakfast," Ivy said, thinking that once she and Miles left, Quentin would let himself out.
"Why aren’t you wearing pajamas to bed?" Miles looked at the wrinkles on Ivy’s clothes, which clearly showed she had slept in them. "Don’t people usually wear pajamas to sleep?"
Ivy glanced down at her clothes. ’I was wearing pajamas last night, but didn’t Quentin rip them?’
Later, before the doctor arrived, Ivy had just thrown on some random clothes.
"I... I was watching TV last night and must have fallen asleep. I just didn’t get around to changing."
Miles nodded. "You know, last night in my sleep, I felt like I heard some commotion nearby. Did you hear anything?"
"Huh? I don’t think so?" Ivy said, her heart skipping a beat. She wasn’t sure if the commotion Miles heard had come from her room.
Their family’s rooms were all in the same section. But since her eldest and second eldest brothers weren’t here, their rooms were empty, so there was still some distance between her room and Miles’s.
She had called a doctor over last night, which had caused quite a bit of a disturbance.
"Okay, well, I’ll just use your bathroom, and then we can head to the dining hall."
As he spoke, Miles started to walk inside.
Ivy: "!!"
Ivy quickly blocked his way. "Brother!"
"What’s wrong?"
Ivy looked at Miles with a pitiful expression. "I’m a little hungry. How about you just use the bathroom when we get back?"
"It’ll be quick. I’ll just be a second."
"Brother, I..." Ivy couldn’t think of another excuse. She simply pushed Miles out, followed him, and shut the door behind them.
"Oh? Brother, I think I forgot my room key inside! How did the door close? Why don’t you just go use the bathroom somewhere else?"
Although Ivy knew her actions were suspicious, at least Miles couldn’t get in.
Miles gave Ivy a strange look. "Little Sis, you don’t have a man hidden in your room, do you?"
Ivy: "..."
"Third Brother! Don’t say such ridiculous things!"
"Then why are you so flustered and scared to let me in? Also, what’s that on your neck? Let me see." As he spoke, Miles reached out to move Ivy’s hair aside.
Because Ivy’s hair was long, it covered some of the marks on her neck, but they were still faintly visible.
Ivy clutched her neck. "I felt a mosquito buzzing around me while I was sleeping last night, and it was itchy. It must have bitten me."
"Brother, stop overthinking things. Let’s just hurry and get breakfast, or Grandpa will get antsy waiting for us. Let’s go, let’s go." Ivy grabbed Miles and rushed away from the scene. She was afraid that if she delayed any longer, the man in her room would get impatient and come out, which would trigger World War III.
During breakfast, Ivy told her grandpa that she had to go out for a bit during the day.
She had to discuss a partnership, and the meeting was scheduled for that evening.
After breakfast, Ivy didn’t know if Quentin had left, but she didn’t dare go back to her room.
Miles drove Ivy directly to her studio. Quentin, however, was still waiting for her to come back after breakfast. After two hours, he realized she was hiding from him and wasn’t coming back.
Perhaps because last night was the only good night’s rest Quentin had gotten in a while, his mind was now exceptionally clear. He sorted through the thoughts that had been tangling him up for days.
He couldn’t stop himself from liking Ivy. He couldn’t let her go. As for Joy Sheridan, he would do his best to find a compromise.
Quentin called Zane Linton. He asked Zane to send over any urgent files that needed his attention and to look into Ivy’s schedule. Joy Sheridan was probably still being held by the Mercer Family. Quentin had no desire to see her right now, nor did he plan on arranging her release. This was a good opportunity to let Joy cool down, and it would also make it easier for him to get things done.
"Also, send me all the information about that accident, including all the surveillance footage from the scene and all the written statements!"
Lately, Quentin’s mood had been very low; he’d been in a daze, really. It had been a long time since Zane Linton had heard Quentin speak with such a calm and assertive tone.
