Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close
Chapter 403: Joy Sheridan Makes Trouble for Ivy Sherwood, Gets Her Face Slapped Swollen
After a three-hour flight, the plane landed in Lustre.
The New Year was approaching, and the weather in Lustre was surprisingly pleasant.
Joy Sheridan was dressed in a mink coat, a pair of sunglasses perched on her face. She looked upon the city with utter disdain.
She hated this city because she hated the people in it—especially Ivy Sherwood.
She knew she couldn’t keep her arrival in Lustre a secret. Quentin Blackwood would probably find out very soon.
Not that she intended to hide it. She wanted Quentin to know. ’He definitely still cares about Ivy,’ she thought. ’He might even come chasing after me right away.’
Joy knew she was playing with fire, but that was exactly what she wanted. To let Ivy see how happy she and Quentin were, to ensure Ivy could never have him. Wouldn’t that be much more thrilling?
She knew Quentin would end up with her; it was her grandfather’s dying wish, after all. But that Ivy was just so detestable. ’If she could be pushed to jump off a building or kill herself, that would be for the best,’ she mused.
’Ivy caused me so much harm, even causing my grandfather’s death. This is the price she has to pay!’
There was no turning back for her now. At the very least, before Quentin found out the truth, she had to make things between him and Ivy completely impossible.
Behind her sunglasses, Joy’s eyes were filled with hatred.
「...」
Joy immediately had someone find out where Ivy was. She quickly got word that Ivy wasn’t at her company or at home, but had gone to a resort villa.
Joy instantly had a room booked at the same resort. She was going over there too.
’I wonder if Ivy will be surprised to see me?’
She was genuinely looking forward to the look on Ivy’s face. It was bound to be spectacular.
In her eyes, Ivy was nothing but a pathetic stray dog now. So what if she started a small company? That was only because of Quentin’s help. Without Quentin, Ivy was nothing.
But she was different. Even with her grandfather gone, she was still part of the Sheridan Family. Her status was far more noble than Ivy’s.
When she arrived at the resort, Joy sent someone to ask around for Ivy’s location.
Ivy was watching the sunset. The winter sun was warm, not scorching like in the summer.
She had watched the sunset here with Quentin before. Unfortunately, so much had changed since then.
From a short distance away, Joy saw Ivy’s profile. ’Still as ugly as ever,’ she thought. ’How on earth did a woman like that ever catch Quentin’s eye?’
And he had liked her so much, too. He was willing to do anything for Ivy.
The afterglow of the sunset spread across the sea, a view so beautiful it was beyond words. There were quite a few other people on the beach, also watching the sunset.
Joy walked straight over, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Well, well, look who’s here watching the sunset. If it isn’t the abandoned other woman."
Joy’s words immediately made many people turn their heads, especially a sensitive term like "other woman."
Ivy turned around as well, not expecting to see Joy here.
Ivy, who had been enjoying the beautiful scenery just a moment ago, felt her expression darken instantly.
She didn’t want to see Joy. She didn’t want to see anything related to Quentin Blackwood.
Not planning to get entangled with Joy, Ivy decided to leave. But Joy went right up and grabbed her by the arm. "What, trying to run away already?"
"Ivy Sherwood, you are absolutely shameless! You already had a fiancé, yet you still debased yourself by crawling into your fiancé’s uncle’s bed. Didn’t you know Quentin is my boyfriend?"
"You must have had fun being the other woman, right? Too bad my boyfriend has seen your true colors now. He doesn’t want you anymore. He’s abandoned you! HAHAHAHA!"
Joy was like a madwoman. Her voice was so loud that nearly everyone around them heard her.
Her words were packed with so much scandalous information that everyone stared over in unison, whispering amongst themselves.
Ivy knew Joy was here to cause trouble, but she hadn’t expected her to twist the facts so blatantly, without a shred of decency.
Just as Joy was getting into the swing of her tirade, Ivy suddenly raised her hand and slapped her hard across the face.
Joy was stunned by the blow. After two seconds, she clutched her cheek. "You dare hit me? I’m going to kill you!"
With that, she raised her hand, ready to strike Ivy.
But how could a pampered rich girl like Joy be a match for Ivy? Ivy caught Joy’s descending wrist with one hand, then instantly raised her other and swiftly slapped her across the face again.
There. Now Joy’s face was symmetrical.
"Quentin and I did break up, but when we were together, it had nothing to do with you. Do you have some kind of delusion, fantasizing every day that Quentin is your boyfriend? As far as I know, Quentin has never been with you. We both know who really wants to be the other woman here."
At this, Ivy gave a cold smirk. "It’s just that some people are desperate to be the other woman, but the man in question might not even give them the time of day. Isn’t that right, Joy? You’ve used every dirty trick in the book. Has he even spared you a single glance?"
Joy had come here to humiliate Ivy, but Ivy’s words struck her right where it hurt.
Joy’s heart felt like it had been stabbed with a knife. Because even now that they had broken up, Quentin hadn’t paid her any extra attention. In fact, she hadn’t even seen him for several days.
"Also, I never agreed to the engagement with Silas Blackwood. As for what really happened, it’s all online. I’m not going to repeat it for you if you’re too slow to understand. I don’t know what your purpose is in showing up here, but if you’re looking for trouble, I’ll give you a fight!"
Ivy’s gaze was like chips of ice, terrifyingly cold.
Joy trembled as she looked at Ivy. Her hand was still in Ivy’s grasp, and she couldn’t understand where Ivy got such strength. Her wrist was in agony.
The aura Ivy was radiating right now was so similar to Quentin’s. It was as if she were seeing Quentin himself standing before her, and the sight scared Joy so much she barely dared to breathe.
"You... you... you ugly woman! You’re just stirring up trouble because you’re ugly! You’re hideous even with makeup on!"
But the insult didn’t faze Ivy at all. She sneered, "Aren’t you the same? Without makeup, who knows which one of us is uglier."
Joy considered herself a natural beauty. Makeup only made her look even better. Even barefaced, she was still gorgeous.
But Ivy? She looked like this *with* makeup. Without it, who knew how hideous she must be.
"Then do you dare to take off your makeup right here, right now? Let’s have everyone see. We’ll have a little competition and find out who’s prettier."
Then, she would completely outshine Ivy, showing her what it meant to be a true barefaced beauty.
Ivy looked up at her. "Are you sure? You want to have a barefaced-off with me?"
’Joy’s face is already swollen from my slaps, and she still dares to take off her makeup in front of so many people?’ Ivy thought. ’If she does, her face will probably look even more swollen.’
Joy thought Ivy was chickening out. She laughed loudly. "What, are you scared?"
Ivy said flatly, "I just think you have a death wish."
