Marie blinked, trying to digest the list of adjectives he had used to describe himself. A laugh escaped her lips, and she leaned forward.

Her lips pressed gently against his before she moved back. "Good for you. As long as you don’t go overboard like a certain person with three hundred wives and seven hundred concubines, I won’t pierce you with my spear."

Leon chuckled and turned around. "Sorry, I’m not interested in spears. I only do women. By the way, what’s your Class name now? And what’s your highest stat value?"

Marie fell into pace beside him as they headed to his room. "It’s now called War Priestess—an upgraded version of what I had before."

She flexed her muscles a little. "As for my highest stat value, it’s around 388. And yeah, I’m already Level 75."

Leon nodded, pleased. "That’s a good thing. Soon, we’ll be raising all the Evolvers in our army to peak Tier One and have them start evolving too. Besides, I now have another method we could use for the public."

"Another method?" Marie tilted her head, intrigued.

Leon smiled mysteriously as he opened his door and entered. She followed him inside and closed the door behind them.

"I’ll reveal it later. For now, I should get started."

Marie nodded and sat on a nearby couch, watching him as he lay on the bed.

He didn’t start immediately. Instead, he stared at the completed requirements for a brief moment.

[Evolution Requirements to Tier Two]

[1. Survive an encounter with a Tier Three creature and make it acknowledge you as a predator (1/1)]

[2. Gain the loyalty of a thousand willing Evolvers under your banner (1000/1000)]

[3. Retrieve the Heart of a Dying World. (?)]

[4. Remember a Fragment of Darkness. Progress: 100%]

He had indeed come a long way. Sighing, he closed his eyes and surrendered to slumber.

The Star Stream seemed to ask him if he was ready to evolve, and he confirmed that he was. Then, the world went dark.

......

A few days later, in Williamsburg.

BANG!

A large, mutated hippo exploded into bits and pieces as it was smacked by a blade. The silver greatsword blocked the rain of blood from reaching its wielder, and he caught the blue crystal as it fell to the ground.

Leon examined the crystal, then tossed it behind him.

Selene caught it with an exasperated sigh, then kept it in her storage ring.

"You... I’m starting to think I didn’t need to follow you."

Leon glanced at her. "What? You’re being useful. Or do you want me to sit back while you kill? I can store soul crystals too, but my storage ring is full of corpses already."

She scowled and turned away. "Just keep walking. We should be reaching the horde soon."

Leon nodded sincerely and dashed forward. A mutated bug burst out of a building and tried to ambush him, but a single kick from him sent it flying back into the house.

He quickly went inside and came out with a blue soul crystal. Grinning, he tossed it to Selene.

"Looks like we can harvest some more Tier Two crystals today."

She stared at the crystal in her hand, a little dazed and numb. It was just a soul crystal gotten from a Tier Two creature. It was nothing big. She could kill one too. However, she didn’t even think about being able to do it as easily as Leon was doing it.

Killing a Tier Two mutated bug with a kick? Her ankle would probably get hurt, and the bug would catch a cold.

But, it wouldn’t die.

Leon had just evolved to Tier Two a few days ago, and the only word to describe his situation was... broken. At this point, Selene began to wonder how much of a threat Tier Three creatures would actually pose to him.

She had tried sparring with him but had lost in just a few exchanges. Even when Marie joined in, the result was the same. Although they were the only three Tier Two Evolvers in their territory, they weren’t equal by any means.

Marie was just a little weaker than Selene, but none of them could dream of comparing to Leon.

’Sigh...’

She stored the crystal in her storage ring, then flinched when his cold hand touched her forehead.

"What are you doing?" She hissed, glaring at him as she took a step back.

Leon’s brows furrowed. "You haven’t been yourself lately. You sighed like a hundred times just today. Is there something bothering you?"

She stared at him with a hard look, unable to decide whether she should just ignore him or kick his balls.

In the end, she simply shook her head. "Let’s go. We have to get back to the city tonight or tomorrow morning latest."

Leon hummed and walked ahead of her. The Wolf King’s Might hung on his back as he looked around curiously.

Seeing no beasts, he decided to check his own system panel and admire it.

As he stared at his stats, a dark grin manifested on his face.

’I can’t help but hope that the Zombie King is now Tier Three. I need to know the limits of my strength.’

Selene caught up to him and saw the grin, feeling a little unnerved. "Wipe that thing off your face. We’re not going on a picnic."

Meow!

Rune agreed with her as it sat on her shoulder, staring at Leon’s smile too. The young man sighed, then rolled his shoulders.

"One can only imagine Sisyphus happy."

Selene didn’t reply to that, not because she didn’t want to, but because they had finally reached the zombie territory.

Today, they would be reuniting with their old enemies.
