King Jared quickly appeared outside the city, his expression dark and gloomy. The warriors had already assembled, forming a thick line just a few meters away from the dome itself.

He raised his head to look at the sky.

The massive figure of the black serpent cast a shadow over them, causing the warriors to look up in awe.

The beast flew without wings, simply defying the law of gravity and remaining in the air as it wished.

Even King Jared himself felt a bit of awe looking at it. He was quickly drawn to another figure, though.

Slithering towards the Dome was a centipede-like creature. It had countless legs from different creatures, flesh that rippled occasionally with several thick hides, scales, and chitin merged together. On its head was a thick cluster of eyes that resembled one huge eye, its gaze fixed on the last bastion before it.

King Jared’s grip on his weapon tightened, and he forced himself to look away.

Gently flying to the ground with the help of a skill, he joined his army. Upon his arrival, the warriors cheered and raised their weapons in the air, their morale rising.

King Jared was already known as a War God. With his presence on the battlefield, the Vaelari warriors were confident in winning.

King Jared ignored the Tier Four abomination and focused on the other parasitized creatures rushing ahead of it. Seeing people who had once been Vaelari among them, his eyes darkened.

"Fire."

His voice was soft, yet everyone on the battlefield could hear him.

Instantly, ranged abilities shot out from within the dome, slamming into the parasites and shredding them into pieces.

None of the warriors stepped out from the protection of the dome. At least, not yet.

The parasites didn’t stop despite several of them dying in waves. They slammed into the dome, repelled by the ancient shield. None of them could claw their way in. They could only push helplessly, withstanding or dying to the attacks of the warriors.

The battle continued in an absolute massacre for the parasites, but King Jared knew they couldn’t abuse this advantage for too long.

"Vaelari King, I’ll be heading out now!"

Hearing the booming voice of the serpent, he raised his head and saw it dash at the Tier Four abomination like a flash of black lightning.

The parasite slowly raised its head to meet the serpent.

BOOOOOOOOM—!!!

The world quaked, and several parasites were flattened to the ground. Even the Vaelari warriors stumbled back from the shockwave, their lines scattered.

The serpent sank its fangs into the body of the centipede-like parasite, tearing away a chunk of flesh. The abomination retaliated by biting at the beast with its countless maws. Sadly, the maws were too weak to damage the serpent’s scale.

As if realizing this, the abomination writhed. The countless mouths shifted and churned, combining to form one ridiculously large maw with several sharp teeth like those of a fish.

The serpent immediately fled to the sky, but the abomination followed. It raised itself from the ground, then bit at the beast’s tail with its dangerous maw.

A sharp hiss escaped the serpent’s mouth, and it turned around, lashing out with fury. The two creatures fell back to the earth, tumbling into one another.

King Jared tore his gaze off them and bellowed to his warriors, "CHARGE!"

The Vaelari warriors quickly recovered from the shockwave of the Tier Four battle and charged at the parasites swarming the dome.

The king himself led them, bringing down his weapon upon the skull of a large parasitized gorilla.

Boom!

Its head burst apart, and he grabbed the green crystal, keeping it with him. Stepping on the corpse, he shot after another Tier Three beast, cutting it down in a single strike.

He kept its soul crystal and moved on to the next, methodically taking down the strongest enemies while his army dealt with the weaker ones.

The Vaelari, hardened by the vicious state of their world, showed no fear or hesitation when fighting the parasites. They threw out abilities and weapons, cutting into the horde and slaughtering them in waves.

The parasites might have outnumbered them, but they were smarter and more coordinated. Within minutes, they had gained ground, pushing the parasites away from the Dome.

King Jared continued on his hunt. If a creature didn’t die from one strike, he would deliver two. If it still didn’t die, he would deliver three.

Having been stuck at the peak of Tier Three for years, his strength had been saturated, and he found it hard to find anything below Tier Four that could contend with him for long.

Unfortunately, today was a day he found one. Pausing, he stared at the corpse of the beast at his feet, then raised his head.

Standing before him was a parasitized Vaelari. It wasn’t just any Vaelari either, but one that had been a king in the past.

King Jared’s heart shook. He gripped his weapon tightly, agitated.

"You... parasites...!"

He growled, enraged. The parasitized Vaelari raised its spear and pointed at him, a gesture the Vaelari used whenever they wanted to have a battle of honor.

The gesture only infuriated King Jared. Without hesitation, he dashed at the parasite, swinging his battle-axe straight at its head.

Clang!

It blocked, looking at him with a wide smile on its face. Scowling, King Jared pulled back and prepared to attack again. However, the parasite beat him to it.

It pulsed its arm backward, then struck forward with its spear, straight at his heart.

King Jared quickly blocked with the flat of his weapon, creating some distance between them.

’This won’t be easy.’ He noted.

Still, he was relaxed. He had dealt with the most troublesome parasites in the horde. His army could handle the rest.

As for this one, he would slay it personally.

Meanwhile, far away from the battlefield, a human sat on the thick branch of a tree, watching the battle unfold.

He had dark circles under his eyes, with several injuries marring his body. Some were light, and some were grievous. However, they were all in the process of healing.

Spitting out the remains of a digested parasite that had tried to infect him but failed, the human wiped his lips in disgust.

"Finally. I can get this done."
