Chapter 306: GIVE IT BACK!

BANG!

Forcing its way through the broken remains of the shield, the poleaxe slammed into the chimera’s torso, snapping several bones and forcing it back by several steps.

The beast neighed in agony, its several eyes glaring at Leon with hatred.

The young man snorted and dashed at it again. He had to kill it before it fused with others and reached Tier Three.

Stomping on the ground, he shot over to its side and swung his weapon again. Suddenly, one of the Vaelari arms on its sides grabbed a sword from the ground and raised it to meet Leon’s weapon.

’Fool.’

Crack—Shatter!

The sword broke into pieces, its remains scattering to the ground. Still moving with force, the poleaxe struck the arm and viciously cut it off. Once again, the beast neighed in pain and pulled away from him, retreating.

As it did, a mutated bull lying nearby, struggling to move after being decapitated by Selene, was suddenly grabbed by two hands on its body.

Under Leon’s astonished gaze, the bull melted and merged with the chimera. The lost arm was replaced with one of the bull’s legs, and two sharp horns appeared on the horse head.

Leon’s expression darkened, and he dashed at the creature again.

Before he reached it, he struck the ground with his leg, shooting into the air and falling right above the beast.

"Die!"

It looked up at him with its many eyes, then its horns glowed blue. A bolt of lightning condensed between the two horns and shot out, striking Leon squarely in the chest.

He was knocked back, landing on his back and barely managing to cling to the weapon.

Groaning, he rolled away and got on his knees. The beast was already charging at him, each hand now equipped with a weapon.

’Tch.’

Leon scowled in annoyance. He shot off the ground and charged straight at the beast, swinging the poleaxe as a proper ranged weapon.

Boom!

The thick, dark blade caught the beast’s shoulder and dug in, pushing it to the left.

However, the beast didn’t lose its footing. Using the insect legs, it quickly pivoted and changed direction, wrenching itself free from the weapon that had injured it.

It bellowed loudly, then lowered its head. Once again, the horns turned blue, and lightning charged between them.

"You think I’m a fool to be hit by the same attack twice?!"

Leon roared angrily, then shot straight at the beas. As he brought down his weapon, the lightning bolt was released.

Time seemed to slow down, and he watched the blade of the poleaxe make contact with the lightning bolt.

Unlike Aila’s soul attack that could pass through weapons, the lightning bolt couldn’t.

Leon’s poleaxe cleaved through it, and the sharp blade struck the skull of the beast.

BOOM!

A cloud of dust rose up in the air, forcing Leon to squint. He immediately pulled back and opened his eyes.

’It’s not dead...?’ He thought with a flicker of irritation in his heart.

Even though he had struck the beast’s head, he hadn’t managed to kill it.

When the dust cleared, he finally saw its condition. The beast clearly wasn’t in good health. Its skull had been cracked, and thick black blood kept pouring from the wound.

It staggered, barely able to balance itself with its horse legs. The eyes on its head wept from the pain, and its mouth opened to release labored breaths.

Still, it was standing.

Something cold flashed in Leon’s eyes. "Just go to hell already..."

With a low growl, he shot at it again, his eyes blazing with ferocity.

The beast immediately focused on him, casting all the defensive abilities it had.

Layers upon layers of barriers stacked in front of it, barring Leon’s path. Seeing this, the young man actually grinned, then sped up.

Boom!

The ground cracked as he shot forward, and he swung madly at the shields.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

One after the other and without rest, he smashed through the shields, breaking them and inching closer to the beast. It neighed in panic, its legs moving to retreat.

However, Leon was already upon it. He smashed through the last shield, bringing his face close to the beast.

He wasn’t sure, but it seemed to have been terrified by the maniacal expression on his face.

Twisting the pole in his hand, he hit hard from below.

"Go die, wench."

BANG!

The poleaxe struck the beast’s jaw, snapping it in half, then pushed through its head with force, crushing it completely.

THUD!

The beast collapsed to the ground at the same time the kill notification came in for Leon.

After finally finishing off the last parasite on her side , Selene stabbed her sword into the ground, leaning against it and panting.

She glanced at Leon just in time to see the chimera beast falling before him. She sighed in relief.

’Finally... they’re all dead.’

Bang!

Flinching, she turned back to Leon. ’What is he doing?’

Bang!

He raised the poleaxe and brought it down on the dead beasts while chuckling darkly.

"Heh... how does it feel now? Eh?"

He raised the weapon again, swinging it at the corpse.

Bang!

Blood splattered, and another part of it was cut open. Selene frowned, then looked at the poleaxe.

’That weapon...’

She quickly straightened herself and reached a hand toward him.

Leon raised his weapon again, ready to bring it down on the beast again, when he noticed something.

His body stiffened, and he looked down.

He growled softly. "Ice...?"

Before he could fully understand what was happening, his whole body was encased in ice. His black eyes flared with anger, and he caught sight of Selene walking towards him.

"What’s this?" He asked, annoyed.

She didn’t answer him, simply keeping the ice firm as he struggled against it. She quickly reached him and yanked the poleaxe from his grip.

"This is staying with m—"

"GIVE IT BACK!"

To her surprise, Leon suddenly snapped and broke free from the ice, grabbing her neck and pushing her to the ground. Selene’s eyes widened, and she quickly stored away the weapon in her storage ring before grabbing the hand that was choking her.

With her other hand, she slapped him across the face.
