Chapter 1265: Chapter 588: The Terror of Phantasmal Energy
At this moment, the massive Insect Race ships at the edge of the "Shadow Veil" began to stir. Their bodies, covered in dark purple, moved through the ethereal void like living fortresses. Each slight wing flap created ripples, causing localized space distortion waves.
The fleet leader was as huge as a castle, its surface covered with sharp spikes and thick armor. Various biological weapons illuminated with eerie glows one after another.
The detectors captured the gravitational waves they released. This powerful force severely interfered with the nearby space-time structure, causing anyone attempting to approach to be trapped in an inescapable trap, dragged down into a hopeless Abyss to be devoured completely.
The Silver Wing Ark navigated through these bizarre ships with difficulty, each evasive maneuver setting hearts racing. A Wizard controlled the concentrated rune bomb combat system, his eyes shining with resolute will, fearless of external danger: "We must first crush the outer sentinels to clear a path towards the Mother ship!"
The frontline soldiers nodded and launched precise strikes at extreme speed. A massive enemy engagement action, impressive yet nerve-wracking, was about to unfold in the cold void!
David watched the giant, constantly writhing, extending, and ravaging spectacle outside the window, knowing:
This was not just a war but a survival decision, a severe challenge to the entire order of the Multiverse!
He slowly relaxed his breath and issued a command:
"Everyone prepare! Let’s ignite the last dawn at the edge of despair with faith and steel will!"
The Silver Wing Ark slowly approached the "Lonely Islands" ruins area, while that deep, shadowy veil in the void continuously wriggled and expanded like a lurking Giant Beast stretching countless claws towards the distance. Just as the Expeditionary Army prepared to probe further, sudden danger emerged—a crushing wave of the Insect Race fleet surged over.
"Lord! Detector warning! Multiple fast-moving fleets are rapidly approaching; we’ve been discovered!" a Wizard reported nervously, as the star map in his hand quickly flashed red alarm signals.
David’s gaze focused, he didn’t say a word but was already prepared for battle. Outside the porthole, countless small and sharp Insect Race vehicles sliced through the void like blades. Their forms were nimble and flexible but carried terrifying destructive power. The vehicles were covered with blackish-purple hard chitin shells, spewing corrosive energy bombs and biological spores, the toxins capable of quickly eroding metal and rune Shields.
Even more astonishing was behind this swarming small attack force were gigantic biological fortress-like Mother ships, floating like islands in the void, filled with multiple firepower platforms and spiked defense structures. These fortresses emitted a cold, eerie glow, more like living giant beasts, constantly opening fangs to tear through space.
Liya immediately issued an order: "Activate the Arcane Shield Array! Frost Barrier and Mind Barrier open synchronously!" She swiftly moved the Rune Scroll with her hands, a layer of light blue ice wall intertwining with a flashing purple mind web, forming a strong Barrier around the ship, like a crystalline and tough double-layer protective shell, enclosing the Silver Wing Ark.
Annie followed suit, chanting spells, her eyes glowing with mystic blue light. Under the control of her Spiritual Power, an invisible barrier rapidly spread, integrating with the Frost Barrier. Under this dual protection, the entire ship formed an indestructible stance, greatly enhancing the crew’s mental resistance capacity.
"Concentrate firepower! Open all main cannons!" David ordered in a deep voice. Powered by the Star Gnomon core, the elemental main cannon of the Silver Wing Ark burst into blue-white Flame beams, piercing through the dark like a rain of laser swords, attacking the dense insect groups. The Flame instantly melted the enemy bodies it touched but could not completely inhibit their astounding reproduction speed and tenacious Life Force.
The small Insect Race vehicles reacted quickly, dispersing and moving at high speeds, while spewing thick corrosive acid and parasitic spore-laden toxic fog. These acids were electrically charged and highly corrosive, constantly eroding the ship’s outer Armor and parts of the Energy Shield. For a time, the surface rune array of the Silver Wing Ark emitted fine cracks and faint flickering arcs, but the huge and complex Defense system promptly repaired, greatly delaying the spread of damage.
What was even more terrifying was that some small insect creatures sacrificed themselves to get close to the ship’s outer walls, using sharp claws for a frenzied climb and suddenly launching biting attacks. They were like bloodthirsty beasts, ignoring parts of the Magic Barrier restraint, breaking the metal Armor at extraordinary speed, and attempting to burrow inside to create Chaos. This physical bite, combined with biochemical toxins, kept everyone’s nerves highly tense, not daring to be careless.
Liya kept waving her Magic Staff, shooting Magic Ice Crystal fragments toward the approaching tentacle area, freezing the enemies into fragile statues. But with more enemy forces swarming, these frozen bodies were quickly breached or exploded in self-destruction, causing secondary shockwave threats to the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, Annie used the Mind Barrier to assist in resisting hallucinations and parasitic spore invasions, providing real-time mental purification to maintain stable states for team members.
In the zero-gravity and oscillating environment, all members coordinated their actions: Knight slashed at alien beings close by; technical Wizard controlled rune devices, throwing magic bombs; Witch softly chanting enchantments, injecting power to frontline soldiers. Amid this chaotic dispute, each action seemed extraordinarily heavy and critical, and every breath carried a gamble on life!
"Boom!" A fierce collision caused a slight dent on the ship’s side, and a violent vibration was transmitted throughout the entire body. David took a deep breath, knowing the key to this battle lay in sustaining attrition while searching for breakthrough points to sever the enemy’s outer formation. He calmly commanded, "Lock onto the outermost threat units and launch a full salvo! Give them no chance to breathe!"
