Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 1021 - 853: Sea Race and Wizards
Serafina paused, a trace of complex emotion flickered in her eyes: "That’s why the Sea Race will do everything to protect the Beauty Shell, and why they loathe your wizards’ actions of collecting materials and capturing sea beasts in the deep sea.
Perhaps you once unknowingly ate a Beauty Shell, which could have originally nurtured a Sea Race Royal Family bloodline. You don’t know its preciousness, but the Sea Race cannot risk it.
Therefore, everyone who eats a Beauty Shell will carry the curse of the ocean, a breath that the Sea Race can sense from afar, and they will pursue it to the end. It’s not cruel, but because we cannot afford to lose even one royal bloodline."
Duke felt enlightened upon hearing this; no wonder the Sea Race values the Beauty Shell so much.
The Beauty Shell is a crucial way of bloodline inheritance for the Sea Race, and it can give birth to the core of the Sea Race’s power.
Currently, the Plane of Wizards is dominated by wizards, and the Sea Race and wizards seem to have signed a peace treaty, maintaining peace within the plane.
Yet the Sea Race has always been wary of wizards, fearing the power of wizards, constantly worrying about when the wizards might attack them.
How can one allow others to sleep soundly beside their bed? Whether Sea Race or wizard, they probably think the same.
Obviously, the Wizard Council intends to allow the plane promotion to proceed smoothly, so they won’t actively provoke war with the Sea Race.
Such actions would magnify internal conflicts within the Plane of Wizards, affecting the plane’s future development.
This probability reflects the thoughts of the Wizard Council headed by Albert; they desire a peaceful and orderly Wizard Plane.
But for the Sea Race, the wizards are like the Sword of Damocles hanging above them, uncertain when it might fall.
The power of wizards surpasses the Sea Race, making it impossible for the Sea Race to trust them completely.
The royal bloodline born from the Beauty Shell represents the pillar of the Sea Race’s future.
Duke remained silent for a moment, gently tapping his fingers twice on the edge of the coral tea table.
Serafina’s tone was sincere as she spoke, sincere enough that it didn’t resemble an elaborately prepared diplomatic meeting.
Yet this sincerity made him warier; the highest secrets of the Sea Race Royal Family, the inheritance mechanism of the Beauty Shell, the awakening pattern of royal bloodline, and even some information about the Sea Race Royal Family—all these snippets could provoke an uproar within the Sea Race.
But she told him without reservation.
"I have a question." Duke lifted his gaze, meeting her deep sea aquamarine eyes with calm, "These secrets should be core secrets to the Sea Race, yet you told me plainly. And since I awakened you, you’ve shown me great affection. Previously on the deck, in front of so many people, you didn’t display any of the airs of a Level 4 Sea Race Royal Family. I don’t believe in love at first sight; maybe when you first awoke, you had some vague fondness for me, but now you’ve clearly outgrown that naive little girl state."
Serafina did not immediately respond after hearing that but gently lowered her eyelids, her long lashes casting faint shadows on her cheeks.
She was silent for a while, her fingers unconsciously stroking the aquamarine crystal stone pendant on the crown’s center. When she raised her eyes again, the emotion in them was no longer bright and frank like when she spoke of the Beauty Shell secret; it had become complex and solemn.
"You’re right; I’m no longer the girl who crawled out of the shell knowing nothing." Her voice was light, as if speaking to herself, carefully holding something precious and fragile, "The process of bloodline awakening reminded me of many things, the fragmentary memories of past royal bloodlines, the history of the Sea Race, and some abilities hard to describe in words.
Do you remember when you found me at the Bottom of the Abyss, the shell of that Beauty Shell opened by itself before you touched me?
At the time, I couldn’t explain why, only vaguely sensed a feeling of safety around you."
She paused again, folding her hands on her knees, her fingertips slightly tightening.
"But now I understand, I opened the shell myself. Or rather, the sleeping me, in the perception of destiny, chose you."
"Destiny?" Duke’s brow slightly furrowed.
"Rule of Destiny." Serafina’s voice grew particularly serious, "One of the highest rules in the Endless Plane. It isn’t easily perceptible like fire, water, wind, or earth, nor does it have definitive energy forms like light and darkness.
It is omnipresent, yet lacks any fixed threads to follow. In the Endless Plane, those who can truly control the Rule of Destiny are extremely rare, so rare that in our Middle Plane like the Plane of Wizards, there may not be even one.
Even in High Plane or Top-tier Plane, not many lives could achieve it. Most who touch the Rule of Destiny can only perceive it vaguely as I do.
They have a vague sense of destiny, occasionally capturing fragmentary omens at crucial points, and no more.
The astrology you wizards study essentially tries to capture the shadow of the Rule of Destiny through celestial changes, but a barrier lies between it and the actual rule, insurmountable."
