Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 521: Abyss
Chapter 521 -375: Abyss
Isaac’s expression was grim as he received the message in the library. He reviewed the information as he headed out.
The world-straightening ritual was practically a done deal. If they let it slip through their fingers now, the three of them would become a laughingstock!
On his way to the portal in the Flesh Dimension, Isaac finished reading the magical message. His brow furrowed at first, but then slowly relaxed. The problem was tricky, but fortunately, not difficult to solve.
The cause of the incident was the same old story: a failed magic experiment. This was the reason for ninety percent of all unplanned incidents in the Wizarding World.
Normally, the failure of most magic experiments wouldn’t affect the world-straightening ritual. After all, if a ritual of this scale were so easily disrupted, it never would have become the universal method for pioneering a New World.
However, this particular failed magic experiment was special, simply because it involved a Demon.
Indeed, this incident had been caused by one of Isaac’s own people—the Demon Dominator, Agares.
He had been diligently following Isaac’s guidance. Even when the results were slow to manifest early on, he remained incredibly serious about his studies. When Isaac’s pointers began to pay off, his dedication only grew, and as a result, he soon made a breakthrough in his research on Demon mutation.
He had successfully fused the Power of a Star God into a Demon’s bloodline, creating a mutated and extremely powerful Star Demon!
This type of Demon would randomly fuse with the power of a Star God, simultaneously becoming a Follower of both the Abyss and that Star God!
Initially, Agares’s contractual restraints were quite effective. But soon, the unexpected happened: after a Little Inferior Demon fused with the Power of a Star God, it then went a step further, assimilating the Divine Power of the Star and Contract God and transforming its bloodline into that of a Contracted Demon.
Contracted Demons were a type of Demon skilled at manipulating contracts, naturally possessing a powerful resistance to most of them.
The Star and Contract God was an ancient Star God whose specific Authorities were unknown. However, its Followers possessed extremely potent contractual powers, and their resistance to contracts was even greater than that of the Contracted Demons!
Thus, when these two powers—both possessing immense control over contracts—combined, the resulting Demon countered the contract Agares had placed upon it in a near instant. It then reversed the connection and seized control of Agares himself!
Of course, this wasn’t an insurmountable problem. The school of the Demon Dominator was now quite mature, with long-established contingency plans for such situations. In fact, for a modern Demon Dominator, counter-controlling a Demon that had reversed their contract was a fundamental skill.
Although the legacy he had inherited wasn’t the most brilliant, Agares still possessed these fundamental techniques. Given a little time, he could not only resubjugate this new Contracted Demon, but even use its power to further his own mastery as a Demon Dominator.
But the problem lay with that “little time”…
Perhaps it was too much of a coincidence, or perhaps for some other reason, but this brand-new breed of Contracted Demon didn’t seem to be very bright. It didn’t try to sever its contract with Agares to gain its freedom, as a normal Contracted Demon would. Instead, it followed its instincts and further strengthened their connection.
Then, using this connection, it summoned vast numbers of Demons from the Abyss!
Summoning so many Demons in a short time drastically strengthens the connection to the Abyss. In a place like a Little World, this could very well create a permanent Abyssal Passage!
The world-straightening ritual was thus affected.
But, as mentioned earlier, the problem was tricky, but not difficult to solve.
Only Isaac and Angel had left the Little World; Philo was still there. And while Isaac didn’t know the full extent of Philo’s power, as a Tier Four Mage, dealing with an out-of-control Tier Three Demon Dominator should have been more than enough.
And that was indeed the case. By the time Isaac and Angel arrived, Philo had already brought the out-of-control special Contracted Demon under control. A mechanical tentacle, its surface shimmering with golden patterns, was wrapped around the Demon, sealing it tightly.
The ground was littered with the mangled corpses of Demons, ranging from Tier Three to Tier Four.
Agares lay weakly on the ground, his face pale and his body spattered with unidentifiable fluids. He wore the expression of someone who had just survived a catastrophe. Upon seeing Isaac arrive, he instinctively averted his gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
Had this been an ordinary loss of magical control, Agares would have been used to it. Back when he was a Wild Sorcerer, he often orchestrated such magical “mishaps” to boost his combat strength—a common tactic among many Demon Dominators.
Over their long dealings with Demons, they had inevitably picked up the demonic vice of toying with life.
This vice, however, was one they strictly limited to using against Demons.
But this time was different. He was fully aware of how important the world-straightening ritual was to Isaac. This time, the loss of control was terrifyingly real.
However, Isaac only glanced at him, not offering much in the way of blame. While he himself rarely lost control, he knew that for a Legendary Mage, experimental mishaps were common—especially for the notorious Demon Dominators.
Of course, since Agares had jeopardized the world-straightening ritual, Isaac wasn’t about to show him any kindness either.
Fair was fair.
Isaac walked over to the restrained Contracted Demon, examining both it and the mechanical tentacle binding it with great interest.
SSHHHK—
Harmon emerged from behind Isaac’s head. The large eye in its palm opened, curiously observing its “kin.”
“Hiss?” Harmon pointed a claw at the golden patterns on the tentacle, asking curiously.
Isaac glanced over and nodded. “Mm, that’s a Divinity Network. It’s different from a normal one, though. It’s not innate; it was likely devoured using Talent Witchcraft.”
Upon hearing this, Harmon waved its claw thoughtfully. A savage mouth then split open in its palm, directing a silent laugh at the mechanical tentacle.
‘What a pathetic Divine Hand, to actually rely on Talent Witchcraft like some Ordinary Magic Pet. So pathetic!’
K-K-K…
A mechanical eye opened on the tentacle, staring speechlessly at the mocking Harmon. ‘That idiot,’ it thought. ‘Doesn’t it know something so simple? The most suitable path is the strongest path.’
‘Truly a good-for-nothing who only knows how to leech off its master’s resources!’
From their respective standpoints, the two Divine Hands, who had taken different paths, cast disdainful glares at one another.
Isaac paid the two no mind. After finishing his Observation of the Contracted Demon, he walked over to the faintly forming Abyssal Passage and studied it with curiosity, a faint light flickering in his eyes.
The Abyss…
‘It seems I can finally begin to explore it,’ he thought. ‘I’ve heard it’s a vast world, no smaller than the Real World itself!’
