Chapter 497: Chapter 360: Flower of Time, Pulp of Time, and Core of Time

World Tree·Chronos. Though a towering tree symbolizing life, it actually represents the relentless passage of time and the end of life!

This was information Isaac had received from Trist, the Elf God—knowledge he hadn’t possessed before.

Of course, according to the information from Trist, this wasn’t the World Tree’s true form. Or rather, the real World Tree had died long ago, transforming into an Eternal Concept. This tree was now merely the external manifestation of that Concept.

It was obvious Angel was behind this, judging by both its properties and her motives.

With this in mind, Isaac prepared to head over and see what was happening. Although they had agreed beforehand that all the resources of this world belonged to Angel, that entire agreement was based on one premise: ensuring the world survived!

In the pioneering War for a New World, the most precious part was always the final fusion ritual!

This was because the ritual would grant participants an additional gift—one based on their standing in the Real World!

Although the contents of the gift were completely random, its value was, without a doubt, extremely high—perhaps even far greater than everything else they had gained this time!

Well, that was if Isaac hadn’t completed his Heroic achievement.

Regardless, this now involved his interests. If it had no impact, that was fine. But if it did, he would have to strike hard!

However, when the jagged tear in the Void appeared behind him, Isaac wasn’t swallowed by it. He hesitated, thinking that he didn’t know what the situation was over there; using a direct spatial transfer was too dangerous.

Spatial transfer was convenient, but it was also a very dangerous power. It was like an airplane: accidents were rare, but when they did happen, they were catastrophic!

So, after some thought, Isaac decided against spatial transfer and instead turned into a beam of light, flying toward the World Tree.

Just as Isaac took off, from the Royal Capital on the other side, Philo also shot over as a gleam of light. When it came to this matter, she was even more anxious than Isaac!

Because she wasn’t finished with her transfers!

After all, the world wasn’t on the verge of immediate destruction. There was no need to transfer everyone at once; not only would the expense be enormous, but settling them would also be a problem. Transferring in batches was the only way to maximize her returns, and she hadn’t even moved a tenth of her people yet...

So if the world were destroyed because of this, she would be utterly ruined. Unlike Isaac, she didn’t have a Heroic achievement to fall back on.

Therefore, even though she didn’t know what was going on with the World Tree, she rushed over at top speed. At a time like this, all she wanted was for things to remain calm so she could securely pocket her profits.

Any unexpected event at this stage was too great a risk for her to bear!

And when she noticed Isaac also rushing over, she grew even more panicked. She felt she had a decent understanding of him—that man was unlikely to interrupt his research over some trivial matter.

Especially not now...

Thus, when Isaac arrived at the base of the tree, he was met with the sight of Philo in a standoff with three versions of Angel, each of a different age. The scene was...

’Huh? Three of them?’

Isaac froze. He focused his gaze and saw that there were indeed three of them, and every single one was real. His brow furrowed slightly. ’Is this... Angel from different timelines?’

’Her Magic Scripture can do something like this?’

Isaac’s expression grew solemn. He didn’t know any similar Magic, nor had he ever seen anything this High Level in the Sect, but all those novels he read in his past life weren’t for nothing. In a situation like this, he could think of countless ridiculously overpowered abilities, and without a doubt, none of them were something the current Isaac could counter.

In other words, even if her individual combat power was weaker, this ability to pull people from the timeline put her in an invincible position. She now had the qualifications to speak with Isaac as an equal.

"Care to explain what’s going on here?" Isaac glanced at Philo, who remained silent in her standoff with Angel, before turning his question to Angel herself. "Tell me about this World Tree·Chronos."

Hearing this, Philo’s gaze flickered. She glanced at Isaac, a hint of confusion in her eyes. Clearly, this was the first time she had heard that name as well.

"Oh? You even know about this?" Angel looked at Isaac in surprise. After all, she had only learned that name from her Magic Scripture; it wasn’t something an ordinary person would know.

Case in point, the Eldest Princess of a certain fallen Empire standing right there, looking completely lost.

Isaac didn’t reply, only watching her quietly. But the Magic Power that began to slowly accelerate its flow around him spoke volumes. ’Invincible’ just meant she couldn’t be defeated, not that she couldn’t be hurt.

If they really fought, Isaac didn’t believe Angel would come out of it unscathed.

Witches were strong, but he had a Witch by his side as well—one who just so happened to be able to unleash power far beyond her current tier. He had a pretty good idea of the price one had to pay for such abilities.

And since he knew, Angel naturally knew he knew. So, she stopped being coy and began to explain.

"World Tree·Chronos symbolizes the relentless passage of time and the end of life. It’s a divine tree that contains unparalleled Power of Time, and its growth represents a world’s decay. At the moment of its death, it will produce a Flower of Time and a Fruit of Time! The Flower of Time holds the power to travel through time and can, to a certain extent, change the past!"

At her words, a fervent glint flashed through Isaac and Philo’s eyes. ’Time travel...’

To be honest, while such a method was considered high-end in the current Wizarding World, it wasn’t some untouchable, god-like power. Within the Flesh Sect, to which both Isaac and Philo belonged, there were three known Tier Five Legendary Wizards who openly accepted commissions related to Time Travel!

They could send a person to a specific point in the past, with the fee determined by how far back they went!

The Empire was rumored to have a Secret Treasure with a similar effect, but regardless of the method, one could only travel to the past—and was completely unable to change anything!

The only exception was if one went back with a mission to complete a specific event that formed a closed time loop.

Otherwise, even if you returned to the past, you could only be an observer.

This wasn’t much of a secret; a vast amount of data had been collected on the subject. For a Wizard, the purpose of traveling to the past wasn’t necessarily to change history. It had a far greater value—Observation!

Some went to observe phenomena that had long since vanished, while others went to observe experiments that were now strictly forbidden, using the opportunity to collect data.

In short, such acts of Time Travel were not uncommon among the various Sects and the Truth Association.

But to date, the conclusion from all related incidents was the same: the past could not be changed!

’And now, this... thing’s Flower of Time could change the past?’

The two of them understood perfectly well the value this represented!

However, the fervor in their eyes was fleeting. They hadn’t missed the qualifier in Angel’s explanation: "to a certain extent."

In other words, something like preventing the Emperor’s death was completely out of the question. The scope of such an event’s influence was far too great; even if such an ultimate treasure existed, it couldn’t possibly be born in a mere Little World.

Isaac’s thoughts on the matter were even simpler. He hadn’t been alive all that long in this world, so there was very little he felt the need to change.

Without the qualifier, the item would be absurdly powerful. But with that limitation, its practical value was middling. Its greatest worth, instead, would be as research material.

’Still, its preciousness was undeniable. If the Flower of Time was this incredible, then what about the Fruit of Time?’

Noticing the change in their expressions, Angel smiled faintly and continued, "The Fruit of Time is divided into two parts: the flesh and the pit. If you eat the flesh directly, you can gain an extra ten years of life out of thin air. The pit can be planted, and it will grow into a Future Tree. Through this tree, you can change the future three times within a certain scope!"

Upon hearing this, the expressions on Isaac and Philo’s faces changed instantly. Compared to the somewhat underwhelming effect of the Flower of Time, the Fruit of Time was the truly incredible prize!

Both of its effects were incredibly tempting, even to someone like Isaac!

’He couldn’t even imagine how much he could improve with an extra ten years!’

’Then again... maybe not that much...’

’But what if he also had the pit, which could change the future three times within a certain scope?’

With the help of those two things, Isaac was even somewhat confident he could take the Bloodline Mage, his Great Creation...

...and bring its prototype directly into existence!
