Chapter 489: Chapter 357: Conservative Star Mage

After offering Agares some brief guidance, Isaac collected the last three years of experimental data from him and went straight to his laboratory.

Upon arriving at his laboratory, Isaac first inspected the equipment inside, then couldn’t help but shake his head. It wasn’t that it was bad—Soron had been fully in charge of it, so the quality was guaranteed to be good.

In fact, Isaac’s feeling of helplessness was precisely because the quality was so high...

To put it nicely, this world was set to merge with the Real World in three years. To put it bluntly, this world was going to slowly kick the bucket in three years. The only difference was the phrasing.

When the time came, the laboratory would almost certainly be destroyed. It wasn’t that it couldn’t be moved, but there was no point. First, the Mage Tower in his territory and the Floating City currently under preparation were leagues beyond this place. And second...

The cost of transferring all this equipment to the Real World might be higher than its actual value...

After all, all of this experimental equipment had been procured within this Little World. Given the skill level of this world’s Casters, even with Philo’s technical support, how much could possibly have changed in just three years?

But since it was all set up, he might as well make do and use it.

After his customary inspection and calibration of the equipment, Isaac proceeded to the observation area. He planned to examine the experimental subjects from the past three years, cross-referencing them with the data from Soron and Agares to see if there was anything they had missed.

It wasn’t that Isaac didn’t trust them, but the gap between him and them was vast, both in terms of Level and perceptive ability.

And after Isaac’s Observation, he found this to be true.

Over the past three years, Soron and Agares had pursued three main lines of experimentation. Two of these involved modification centered on their respective areas of expertise: Star Goblins and Star Demons.

The data they gathered wasn’t very promising. They had only managed to gain a rudimentary understanding of the Shadow of the Star God, with no significant breakthroughs.

However, in Isaac’s view, that wasn’t quite the case...

First, the goblins. Soron’s methods were as crude as ever; he injected the Power of Star God into the goblins like he was filling cream puffs. The clever part, however, was that he had crudely combined the Meditation methods of a Star Mage with the advancement ritual of a Star Knight, hoping to enable the goblins to connect to the Shadow of the Star God.

The goal was quite simple. First, he hoped the goblins could become Star Mages and master their signature ability: Star Beast Summoning. If he could successfully turn a goblin into a Star Mage, the project to complete the Star Mage class would be halfway done. This was because while goblins are trash-tier Demons with Magic Power too feeble to cast any Magic, they do technically possess Casting Ability.

Their Mana is simply too low to cast even the lowest-Level Magic.

If they became Star Mages, however, Mana would no longer be an issue.

Unfortunately, although Soron had infused over a thousand goblins with the Power of Star God and guided them through Meditation, the results were dismal. Forget becoming Star Mages—very few even survived. In total, only three subjects made it, and even they were left weaker due to the Erosion from the Power of Star God...

’A downgrade, essentially.’

But this was to be expected. Soron’s initial experiments were always like this: too crude and lacking any technical finesse. Naturally, he wouldn’t achieve any major breakthroughs. The primary goal of this first round was data collection.

In subsequent experiments, Soron’s methods did indeed become more refined, but the results were just as ineffective. Goblins were simply too pathetic.

After inspecting the goblin remains, Isaac reached roughly the same conclusion as Soron. There was, however, one unexpected discovery—not among the three survivors from the first round, but in one of the deceased.

Amidst the chaotic traces left by the ravaging Power of Star God on its body, Isaac saw the faint shadow of a Technique. It was as if the creature had been on the verge of awakening something. Unfortunately, its frail Life Force gave out, and it died before the Technique could fully form.

And because the Technique was so far from completion, neither Soron nor Agares had noticed it.

After observing it for a moment, Isaac stored the remains separately. This specimen was useless for the research into Star Mages, but it might offer a powerful new ability for Star Mages or Star Knights.

Especially the latter. This world’s Star God Furnace Method was actually quite impressive. The reason the Black Knight was stuck at Tier Four was largely due to the world’s limitations; with a bit of optimization, a breakthrough to Tier Five was possible.

But as Knights, they inevitably suffered from limited offensive options. While the effects of this unknown Technique were still unclear, for a brute-force fighter, it was guaranteed to be an improvement.

It wasn’t particularly valuable to Isaac, but for his father, Gaia, it was a matter of extreme urgency!

He had reached Tier Four by following the Path of the Gods. However, after his advancement, he switched to the Path of the Demon Beasts to avoid overly influencing Caesar. He began his Cultivation of the Black Snake Furnace Technique, which he had obtained many years ago, but that method capped out at Tier Four.

Therefore, a Furnace Skill that could lead to higher Levels was something Isaac and his siblings had been searching for all along.

Judging from the Black Knight’s performance, the Star God Furnace Method was exceptional in both its potential and power. It would be a perfect fit for his father.
