Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through
Chapter 502 - 358: Global Phenomenon, Level Four Morning Star
Night had fallen, and the sky over Jiangzhou City should have been as black as ink.
But just after eight in the evening, a silver glow suddenly appeared on the city’s horizon.
The light was extremely faint at first, like moonlight peeking out from behind distant mountains.
But soon, crimson seeped into the silver glow, and within the crimson, streams of gold began to intertwine.
Finally, silver, crimson, gold, transparent, and yellow—the five-colored lights flowed slowly across the night sky, creating a strange and beautiful spectacle.
"Mama, what is that?"
In Jiangzhou Park, a little girl pointed at the sky, her eyes wide and round.
The citizens strolling nearby all looked up.
"An aurora? Can we see an aurora here in Jiangnan Province?"
"No... there are too many colors, and it’s moving!"
Someone raised their phone to record it, and the image on the screen was even more brilliant than what could be seen with the naked eye.
The five-colored lights were not static. They slowly spun, wove together, and separated in the sky. When they occasionally collided, they burst into fine specks of light, like falling stardust.
On the roof of the Superpower Management Bureau building, Zhou Zhen gripped the railing, his brow tightly furrowed.
He pulled out his communicator. "What’s the word from the meteorological bureau?"
A rushed voice came from the communicator. "Captain Zhou, all instrument readings are normal. This isn’t an atmospheric phenomenon! The Energy readings... are rising!"
Zhou Zhen looked up at the sky. The center of the five-colored lights seemed to be... directly above the Management Bureau’s underground chamber.
An abrupt thought exploded in his mind. ’It can’t be...’
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he remembered General Wei’s instructions from three days ago: "No matter what happens in the near future, do not go near the third basement level."
Wei Song’s tone had been calm at the time, but Zhou Zhen had detected a sort of suppressed anticipation.
Now he understood.
The next day, the five-colored aurora had not disappeared.
Its light faded during the day only to reappear at night, its range growing larger with each passing day.
By the morning of the third day, the brilliant colors could be seen in the night sky from anywhere in Jiangnan Province.
But an even more astonishing change occurred at noon.
With the blazing sun high in the sky, a blurry phantom of light suddenly appeared in the eastern sky.
At first, people thought it was just sunlight reflecting off the clouds, but the phantom grew brighter and its outline became clearer.
It was the phantom of a sun, emitting an incandescent white light, hanging in the sky next to the real one.
"T-Two suns?!"
"Am I seeing things?" a passerby asked, shaking his head forcefully.
Pedestrians on the street stopped in their tracks. Drivers pulled over and craned their necks out of their windows. The rhythm of the entire city was disrupted.
The phantom of the second sun was even brighter than the real one, but the heat it gave off didn’t burn.
All the heatwaves, upon getting within a kilometer of the ground, were constrained, absorbed, and transformed by an invisible force.
The citizens of Jiangzhou could feel the temperature rising, but the heat wasn’t scorching. Instead, it felt like being soaked in warm water, a pleasant warmth spreading through their bodies.
Deep in the third basement level of the Superpower Management Bureau, outside the sealed chamber.
Wei Song sat cross-legged outside the alloy door. Gaga, perched on his shoulder, tilted its little head, staring at the closed door.
"Wei Song, how much longer is Ian going to take?" the little fellow asked, its voice uncharacteristically anxious.
"I don’t know, but the phenomenon has only just begun."
Gaga pecked his shoulder with its beak. "Can’t you feel it? Inside... it’s really hot."
Even through the heavy alloy door and three layers of Energy Barriers, Gaga could sense a terrifying Energy accumulating inside the sealed chamber.
It seemed to be gestating, metamorphosing, and waiting to reach a certain critical point.
Wei Song closed his eyes again, absorbing the faint wisps of Energy seeping out from under the door.
This dissipated Energy alone was enough to cause a subtle improvement in his Rule Perception.
"Let’s just wait," he said in a low voice. "When he comes out, this world will be different."
On the seventh day, the aurora covered half of Great Yan.
From Jiangnan Province to the Northwest Desert, from the East Sea Shore to the Southwest Mountains, the night sky was filled with the five-colored lights.
And the phantom of the second sun would appear for three to four hours during the day, hanging in the eastern sky.
Satellites from every nation captured the phenomenon.
White-headed Eagle Federation, Pentagon underground command center.
A panoramic view of Profound Yellow Star was displayed on a massive screen. Above the Great Yan Territory, an area of anomalous Energy was marked, its color deepening from a pale yellow to a blinding crimson.
"The Energy readings are still rising," an analyst in gold-rimmed glasses said, his voice trembling slightly.
"It has already surpassed the projected Legendary Peak... by ten times."
The command center fell deathly silent.
A white-haired, four-star general stared at the screen. "Have we pinpointed the location?"
"The phenomenon first appeared in Jiangzhou City, in Great Yan’s Jiangnan Province, but the exact coordinates..."
The analyst swallowed hard. "...are being blocked by some kind of Force Field. All our detection methods have failed."
The old general was silent for a moment. "Notify the president and convene an emergency meeting. Also..."
He paused. "Contact Europe, the Polar Bear... and suggest a global Legend conference."
"The reason being," the old general said, looking up with a complex expression in his eyes,
"that over in Great Yan, someone might be breaking through... beyond the rank of Legend."
The phenomenon continued into its fifteenth day, by which time it had enveloped the entire Profound Yellow Star.
Day or night, no matter where one stood, a glance at the sky would reveal the five-colored aurora and the phantom sun, which was growing more solid by the day.
The world fell into a strange sort of calm.
All wars ceased. All conflicts were put on hold. Even the activity of Mutants had significantly decreased.
It was as if the entire world was waiting for something.
Then, at noon on the fifteenth day, the phantom sun in the sky suddenly erupted with an impossibly brilliant light.
The light was unstoppable, instantly bathing every inch of Profound Yellow Star.
At the same time, an immense and indescribable Will descended from the sky.
