Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Testing Status and New Witchcraft

The mechanical servant pointed to the wriggling Slime on the floor again. "Take this little thing, for example. It can obtain energy by digesting garbage. Lady Leia says it can be used for cleaning, but as you can imagine, no one would buy such a product."

Chen Shang crouched down and tossed an ordinary discarded draft at it. Sure enough, the Slime wriggled over, swallowed the paper, and then slithered aside to slowly digest it.

Through its translucent body, one could even observe the energy transformation process inside.

A thought surfaced in Chen Shang’s mind. Perhaps Senior Sister Leia was the more well-rounded Wizard Apprentice, able to use what she had learned to create whatever she desired. He realized that even the little gadgets she made on a whim incorporated the studies of life, energy, and the soul—quite unlike his own lopsided focus.

After waiting for about half an Hourglass, footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor, and Leia pushed the door open.

She wore a dark blue robe. Her hair was a mess, but she looked in high spirits. Seeing Chen Shang, she looked him up and down before raising an eyebrow.

"Hmm? Making good progress lately?" she asked, clearly sensing Chen Shang’s state.

"I’ve learned a few things." Chen Shang recounted his discovery of the new Plane.

After listening, Leia smiled and shook her head. "You’re only a Second Level Apprentice. Don’t even think about large-scale planar conquests."

She paused. "Sneaking over there might net you some good loot, but the risks outweigh the rewards."

Chen Shang nodded repeatedly. "I understand, Senior Sister. But I have another question I’d like to ask."

He then explained the Spiritual Power project experiments at the Nightmare Laboratory before asking, "Does our laboratory have any similar legacies?"

Leia leaned back in her chair. "Of course we do. The Starfall Laboratory’s unique legacy is the Star Force Field. However... I’m not sure if you’re qualified to cultivate it."

She stood up and walked toward the corridor. "Come with me. Let’s run a test!"

The testing room was on the second basement level of the laboratory. The room was spacious and empty, save for a circular platform in the corner, covered in Runes.

Leia had Chen Shang stand on it while she adjusted the parameters at the control console.

"Constitution, Spirit, Magic Power—let’s test these three core stats first."

The instrument emitted a low BUZZ. The Runes on the platform lit up one by one, scanning Chen Shang from top to bottom.

The data appeared. Leia looked at the screen and read, "Constitution 53, Spirit 57, Magic Power 56."

She turned to look at him. "You meet the standard for a Second Level Apprentice, but you’re not qualified. The foundational Witchcraft of the Star Force Field is called the Repulsive and Attractive Dual Force. You need all three stats to be at least one hundred to cultivate it. You’re still quite a ways off."

"Let’s measure your Attack Power next." Leia pressed a few buttons on the console. A silver-white target rose opposite the platform, its surface rippling with pale blue light patterns.

Chen Shang reached out his hand and began to cast his Witchcraft.

It was a variant of Energy Ejection, a combination he had tested many times.

A pure white Basic Energy Ball began to condense, floating quietly above his palm. Chen Shang’s Spiritual Power probed into it, finding a Fire Element node within its internal structure.

Then, he poured the Fire Element in.

The pure white turned crimson. Fine red flames began to dance across the surface of the Energy Ball, causing the temperature to spike instantly and the surrounding air to distort.

Next was the second node—the Water Element.

The crimson darkened to a deep red. It didn’t cancel out the Fire Element; instead, the entire sphere grew heavier.

Because the density of the Water Element compressed the flames inward, the volume of the Energy Ball shrank slightly, but the light within grew much brighter.

The third was the Wind Element node.

Now, cyan-white electrical arcs began to dance across the dark red surface, emitting a sharp CRACKLE. By combining the Wind, Water, and Fire Elements, the Basic Elements had spawned Composite Elements.

With the Three Elements mixed, Chen Shang gritted his teeth, compressing the Energy Ball over and over until his palm grew hot. Then, he thrust it forward.

The moment the Energy Ball left his hand, it tore through the air with a shrill screech. It smashed into the target, erupting in a blast of cyan-white arcs.

The target shuddered violently, leaving a scorched black mark on its surface.

The instrument went BEEP BEEP, and the number on the screen finally settled at 98 degrees.

Chen Shang shook his head, adjusted his breathing slightly, and raised his hand again.

This time, he adjusted the ratio. He reduced the Fire Element and increased the Wind Element, allowing it to spin internally first. Then, he used the Water Element as a cooling layer to prevent the Energy Ball from self-detonating during compression.

The Energy Ball condensed in his palm. The electrical arcs jumping across its surface were denser than before, twisting together like countless tiny snakes.

Upon release, an orange-red blaze engulfed the entire face of the target, with electrical arcs weaving through the flames.

The number on the screen stopped at 112 degrees.

Chen Shang pondered for a moment. A ring of pale golden light patterns flared around the edges of his pupils. Seeing this, Leia suddenly smiled.

The world in his vision shifted. The target was no longer just a target, but a complex network made up of countless energy nodes.

This time, he simultaneously injected four Basic Elements—Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire—using the Earth Element node as the core foundation.

The color of the Energy Ball rapidly cycled between white, crimson, bright gold, and cyan-white. The electrical arcs jumping on its surface grew thicker and more intense.

The four Elements were compressed into a fist-sized sphere of extreme density. The moment it struck the target, a shockwave rippled outward from the bullseye, displacing the surrounding air.

The instrument let out a long BEEP. The numbers on the screen jumped rapidly before finally settling firmly at 153 degrees.

Leia nodded. "A leverage multiplier of 1.8 to 2.8 is barely passing, but you have an excellent grasp of elemental derivations and transformations."

Chen Shang felt a bit embarrassed. The elemental transformations weren’t his own skill; he had gleaned them from his attributes.

He had simply activated them time and time again, combined them, and relied on trial and error until he slowly figured out the trick.

In the Endless Star Sea, the vast majority of living beings couldn’t exert an Attack Power that matched their own stats. The better ones could utilize seventy to eighty percent, which was already considered excellent.

But the Wizard World was clearly different.

Using his own Magic Power to guide an Elemental Attack, he could leverage 1.8 to 2.8 times his raw power, yet it was only considered "barely passing."

Wisdom and knowledge played an incredibly vital role in this leverage. They determined one’s method of leverage, which in turn determined how much effect could be exerted from their base stats.

Even with low base stats, a high leverage multiplier could unleash an Attack Power far exceeding those base numbers—just like a certain trio of guys who summoned meteors.

Of course, Chen Shang had other methods to enhance his Power, such as using a Magic Staff, or utilizing the power of Mythical Characters.

Just as Chen Shang was about to leave, Leia suddenly called out to him.

"Since your grasp of elemental transformations is decent enough, I have a piece of Witchcraft here that I’ve named the Elemental Multiplication Technique. I think it’s quite suitable for you. Would you like to learn it?"
