Chapter 675: Chapter 71: Yin Spirits of Myriad Tribulations Find it Hard to Attain Sainthood

What was passed down was also severely distorted.

They were just one’s own later additions and interpretations.

Just like the *Tao Te Ching*—it might not have been Laozi’s actual words, but merely Yin Xi’s own interpretation.

Of course, such things were never absolute.

If it were absolute, Wizards would never advance, and their research would be meaningless.

But even so, the process of advancement required an immeasurable amount of time.

But Murphy was different.

Completely different.

Although he had stepped onto the Immortal Path and walked the way of a Cultivator, his mind was also bound by its constraints.

But his consciousness—or rather, a part of his human soul—came from another world.

Even if his heaven and earth souls originated in the Wizard World, the human soul, which represented inspiration, remained untainted, still retaining traces of his past life.

In a world where matter determines consciousness.

Possessing the human soul of a past life, he easily broke through the Knowledge Barrier that was so difficult for Wizards, and even for Cultivators, to overcome.

Myths and legends were full of stories about great powers undergoing tribulations, reincarnating, and cultivating anew.

The most famous was the Supreme Heavenly Emperor.

He endured tens of thousands of tribulations, reincarnating to cultivate, and finally attained his imperial throne.

Every tribulation was a new round of cultivation; every reincarnation was to sever the knowledge of a past life to achieve transcendence.

For beings as long-lived as them, lifespan was naturally not a concern.

Why would they still need to reincarnate?

Why, even when recruiting disciples, make them reincarnate several times before they could become Immortals?

It was because the human soul, the spiritual platform, had been shrouded in haze, tainted by their own Laws.

One had to be reborn through reincarnation to break the Knowledge Barrier.

To glimpse that sliver of heavenly light from a higher plane.

Of course, this method was probably not easy to execute.

While cleansing the haze from the spiritual platform, one also had to maintain one’s "self" without losing it, which was incredibly difficult.

Thus, it was often the disciples who reincarnated, while the truly enlightened ones rarely did.

Otherwise, one wouldn’t see other great powers enduring tens of thousands of tribulations like the Supreme Heavenly Emperor.

Not to mention the Wizard World, which probably didn’t even have a method for reincarnation.

But Murphy’s reincarnation across two realms was a complete and thorough cleansing.

Or perhaps, he was just like the grand-disciples of those great powers—he had never achieved enlightenment in the first place and had no significant "self" to speak of.

He was a blank slate to begin with.

After possessing a "human soul" touched by the Laws of two worlds,

He gained a unique perspective.

When analyzing the rules of the manifest world, he was like a fish in water.

’So my original plan to cultivate a Golden Core directly from the Yin-Yang Law was wrong. And refining the *Profound Origin Nine Refinements Spirit Forging Chapter* isn’t a shortcut either.’

’For someone with my soul’s unique qualities, the Laws of manifest matter related to the Science and technology of my past life are a better fit for me.’

Murphy thought to himself.

It wasn’t to say he had taken the wrong path before.

Rather, in the Old Realm, the study of the Laws of the manifest material world hadn’t progressed to any significant degree.

Besides, his [Inner Alchemy Golden Core (Initial Glimpse)] was something he only acquired after arriving in the New Realm.

Moreover, Murphy had only obtained this research on the Laws of manifest matter after reaching the plane of Kronos.

’As long as I study the Laws of the manifest world and raise my Dao Transformation Level, I can in turn refine my Mind Furnace. The more powerful the Mind Furnace becomes, the faster I’ll break through to the Golden Core stage.’

Having made up his mind, the changes on the surface of Murphy’s body accelerated, and the previously malformed organs began to disappear.

A pair of enormous wings, burning with Crimson flames, sprouted from his back.

Saladin’s expression changed as he recognized the wings.

Those were the wings of the Sun Eagle, a messenger before the throne of a Divine Spirit, an incarnation of flame and light.

He was familiar with these wings, for in his prime, during the years he fought alongside Orestes, he had once possessed them himself.

It was the most powerful of his twelve forms, a form he had only managed to coalesce after drinking Divine Blood, after being tempered a thousand times, after being honed through countless brushes with death.

Yet this intruder before him had only just read the information on a few of his scales and already possessed something that had taken him a lifetime to obtain.

But this was far from over.

Murphy’s transformation was still ongoing.

His spine bulged once more, and a pair of wings burning with silvery-white frost extended from below the wings of flame, complementing them.

The wings were not covered in feathers, but in hexagonal ice crystals, each one refracting a seven-colored halo under the moonlight.

Then, a serpentine tail grew from his tailbone. The end of the tail forked, with a snake head at the tip of each fork. One head was cyan, the other purple, and they hissed, flicking their tongues.

Immediately after, four eyes opened in a row on his forehead. Their pupils were vertical slits, and their irises were all different colors.

Golden, silver, emerald green, and blood-red.

His legs began to change, transforming from the knees down into a pair of eagle talons covered in bronze-colored scales, with claws sharp enough to tear through steel.

Two more arms extended from beneath his ribs. One was covered in feathers, the other in scales. Each hand held a Longsword condensed from flesh and blood.

Gill slits grew on the sides of his neck, like the respiratory organs of a Deep Sea Giant Beast, allowing him to breathe freely underwater.

Saladin’s face had completely frozen.

He recognized every form—the Sun Eagle, the Frost-Feathered Eagle, the Two-Headed Serpent Demon, the Eye of Insight, the Griffin King, the Deep Sea Giant Beast. All of them were mythical creatures from the plane of Kronos, and each one required countless life-and-death trials to take shape.

And he, Saladin, known as the Spine-Render, the Legend and hero closest to a Demigod, had only managed to coalesce twelve forms over a century of warfare, even excluding his three thousand years of slumber.

This intruder before him had already displayed seven of them in a mere moment.

Finally, all the transformations converged.

The wings, the serpent tail, the eyes, the talons, the extra arms, and the gill slits all transformed into Crimson light and retracted into Murphy’s body in an instant.

He returned to his human form.

But this was not the end. Then, Murphy’s body began to swell and elongate.

And then, a great dragon appeared.

It was a dragon identical to Saladin in every way.

The same Dark Gold scales, the same skeletal wing structure, the same horns, claws, tail, and spikes.

The size, shape, and arrangement of every single scale were no different from Saladin’s. Even the minute scratches worn into them by three thousand years of time were identical.

Its eyes were also golden, with vertical pupils.

Standing there, it was as if Saladin were looking into a mirror, standing before his own shadow.

Saladin’s pupils trembled violently. His golden, slitted eyes reflected the dragon that was his perfect copy. His jaw hung slightly open, unable to form a single word.

Finally, he forced a sentence from deep in his throat, his voice hoarse. "Who... who in the world are you?"

The great dragon slowly folded its wings.

Its massive head lowered, its golden, slitted eyes reflecting the torn-apart Legend pinned to the ground.

"Who am I?" Murphy spoke, his immense draconic voice echoing through the silent valley. "Yin-Yang Myriad-Phenomena Elemental Wizard, Seeking Truth Wanderer."

Saladin froze, a trace of confusion flashing across his draconic face.

"Yin-Yang Myriad-Phenomena Elemental Wizard... Seeking Truth Wanderer?"

He repeated the title.

"Your Wizard titles... when did they become like this?"

He remembered the Wizards from three thousand years ago.

Titles like "Ash-and-Ember Elemental Wizard," "Tidal-Storm Dawn Wizard," and "Star-and-Void Dawn Mage."

’Alright, "Yin-Yang Myriad-Phenomena Elemental Wizard" is still fairly similar. At worst, "Yin-Yang" and "Myriad-Phenomena" are just more specialized terms in the Wizard language that I don’t understand.’

It wasn’t too surprising that he didn’t understand.

But the latter half, the three words "Seeking Truth Wanderer," just felt strangely different to him.

It was a completely different style from the others.

It didn’t seem to belong to the Wizard system.

’No, or could it be that the Wizard World has made some new progress in these three thousand years?’

’Otherwise, a Level 2 Elemental Wizard who could crack the secrets of their Divine Blood so quickly wouldn’t have just appeared out of nowhere.’

Murphy didn’t answer his question, simply saying, "Do you have any companions? Take me to them."

Saladin’s vertical pupils narrowed into a thin line.
