Chapter 651: Chapter 60: I Want You to Die
’Kneel?’
If it were another soul standing here right now.
A soul who knew how to read the room, who understood the wisdom of being flexible, would certainly kneel.
They’d kneel spectacularly, with fear and reverence, with tears of gratitude.
As long as it meant surviving the current crisis, who cared about dignity?
What was a backbone worth?
All that mattered was survival.
But Murphy wasn’t that kind of person.
He never had been.
His sense of self, the very anchor of his being, was not built that way.
So, the instant Leonardo’s voice fell—he struck.
A crimson blade of light erupted from within, engulfing his entire being.
His flesh, his bones, his will, his soul—everything condensed in that one instant into a three-foot-long longsword.
It became the purest, sharpest, most desperate all-or-nothing strike.
[Seeker, drifting through the mortal coil, destiny has Manifested two vastly different paths to the heavens before you.]
[Option One: Unjustly humiliated by a true disciple of the Celestial Daoist Sect, you choose to break rather than bend. You draw your sword to cut him down, a desperate strike that spills blood. You will advance, even if it means facing ten million men.]
[Reward: Ten Thousand Laws General Outline "Initial Glimpse"]
[Option Two: Unjustly humiliated by a true disciple of the Celestial Daoist Sect, you choose to break rather than bend. You wound him, spilling his blood, and break through the encirclement. Like a white rainbow piercing the sun, you make your escape.]
[Reward: Qi Absorption and Eating Mist "Entering the Hall"]
The blade of light slashed through the air!
Straight for Leonardo’s face!
"It really is a creature from the Otherworld!"
Leonard’s voice erupted the instant the blade of light flared, a shriek sharp enough to tear eardrums.
He pointed a finger at the crimson blade of light, his voice filled with uncontainable excitement and glee.
"He’s plotting something sinister! He embezzled Dimensional Energy, and now he’s trying to assassinate Young Master Douglas to silence any witnesses! You all saw it! You all saw it!"
He was like a mad dog that had finally sunk its teeth into its prey, refusing to let go.
Yet Leonardo remained where he stood, simply watching the crimson blade of light rush toward him. His jade-green eyes held no fear, no panic, only a faint trace of regret.
"What a pity."
His voice was as soft as a sigh, yet it carried clearly to everyone present. "I gave you a chance."
He raised his hand.
The movement was slow. In the eyes of a creature moving at unobservable speeds, a creature in the throes of combat, it was as slow as a lazy afternoon stretch, as languid as brushing a falling leaf from a flower.
But in the instant he raised his hand, Murphy sensed it.
An invisible power spread out from Leonardo, like ripples, like a tide, surging in all directions.
It was Dimensional Energy, but not the kind Murphy was familiar with.
In Cheris’s room, the Dimensional Energy had been tranquil.
It was like a lake—you could draw from it, swim in it, feel its temperature and currents.
But the Energy surging from Leonardo now was alive.
It carried will, emotion, and the imprint of an individual.
It was like the chaotic Spiritual Qi of the Nightmare World—it rejected, eroded, and changed everything it touched.
But it was different from the Nightmare World. The chaos of the Nightmare World was natural, a primordial soup woven from the dream fragments of countless planes.
This power, however, had a master.
It was artificial.
It was a domain Leonardo had woven, piece by piece, from his will, his Path, and his Legendary Seed.
The moment Murphy’s blade of light plunged into that domain, he felt it.
He was a bird flying into a spiderweb, a traveler stepping into a marsh.
The invisible Energy surged from all directions, coiling around his sword form, seeping into his will, trying to disintegrate him from the inside out.
Leonardo watched him, watched the struggling crimson longsword within his domain, and the smile on his lips finally gained a trace of genuine warmth.
"My Legendary Seed," he said, "is named ’Pain’."
His voice was placid, as if stating the most mundane of facts, as he flicked a finger through the air.
THRRRUMMM—
A wave of indescribable, excruciating pain erupted from deep within Murphy’s sword form.
It wasn’t the pain of the flesh. It was the agony of every particle of his will being torn asunder, of every pillar anchoring his self being ripped out. It was every memory—from the Old Realm to the New Realm, from the Duval Territory to the Holy City, from commoner to Baron—igniting in a single, searing flash.
Leonardo’s voice drifted over again, perfectly calm and composed. "And so, I possess the domain of pain."
He took a step forward.
The oppressive feeling intensified. Murphy’s sword form trembled, the crimson light upon it beginning to dim.
"Here, you will feel every painful memory of your life. Every person you’ve lost, every mistake you’ve made, every moment you were powerless—it will all be replayed here."
He took another step. "Over, and over again. Until your will collapses, until your sense of self dissolves, until you become a true sword—a sword without consciousness, without memory, and without pain."
He stopped, looking at the crimson longsword still suspended before him, at the light on its blade that refused to dim, even in its agony.
"So, why bother?"
His voice was laced with genuine regret. "If you had just knelt from the start, you wouldn’t have to suffer like this, would you?"
As his voice fell, the invisible force intensified once more.
Pain washed over him like a tidal wave, tearing at every inch of his sword form, trying to completely devour its crimson light.
