Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

Chapter 513 - 209: I Didn’t Mean to Show Off...

His affirmative reply caused the observing wizards to stir once more.

"Could Tren Mage have invited him?"

"With a Great Mage in attendance, tonight’s gathering is going to be exciting!"

"You’re right. Good thing I turned down my squad’s ’hunting’ trip, or I would’ve really missed out..."

"Don’t just stand there gawking! Hurry up and figure out how to notify everyone who’s eligible for this gathering but hasn’t shown up yet. Tell them to get over here!"

As they spoke, the number of dark figures in the area instantly dropped by about a third. They were all rushing to notify their companions before the gathering began.

Nana Mage stood before Wei’en, her gaze falling upon the flame emblem on his chest. Confused, she asked, "You know me? Did Tren Mage tell you about me?"

"Something like that."

Wei’en didn’t elaborate, but he wasn’t about to pass up the chance to speak with a wizard from the Spiritual Mystery School. Glancing at the surrounding shadows, he gestured for Nana Mage to follow. "Could we step aside for a moment? I have a few questions, if you don’t mind."

Nana Mage visibly stiffened. ’An invitation from a Great Mage?’

Even though he was a wizard from the Ghost Soul School, she was still inwardly delighted.

"Of course. How should I address you, esteemed wizard of the Ghost Soul School?"

"Just call me Faceless. In fact, I attended the last gathering as well." Wei’en didn’t hide his identity. He spoke as he moved to the side, trying to distance himself from the other wizards.

One of his main reasons for attending the gathering this time was to find a wizard from the Spiritual Mystery School and ask about destiny divination.

If possible, he hoped to hire a Legendary Mage specializing in destiny divination to cast a ward that would hinder the Dawn Church’s pursuit.

"Faceless?" Nana Mage waved away the other wizards who tried to follow, then joined Wei’en behind a nearby pillar, her mind racing to recall the last gathering.

"You... you’re His Excellency Faceless? The one who exchanged contact info with Tren and sold Flanta and the others those Aberration-Calming Potions?"

"That’s me."

Wei’en’s brow furrowed slightly. Plenty of people knew he had exchanged communicators with Tren Mage, but the potion business should have only been known to Flanta and his two seniors.

’Ah, it seems the problem must have been those perfect-grade Aberration-Calming Potions I sold to Flanta...’

"So, what was it you wanted to ask, Your Excellency Faceless?" Nana Mage’s eyes lit up, and the enthusiasm in her gaze was so intense it couldn’t be concealed by the illusory shadow shrouding her.

She knew the Faceless Mage before her was not just a Great Mage, but also a High-level Magic Potion Master exceptionally skilled at brewing perfect-grade Magic Potions. With both titles combined, his affiliation with the Ghost Soul School suddenly seemed far less important.

"I need to ask about the destiny divination branch of your Spiritual Mystery School."

"Destiny divination..." The warmth in Nana Mage’s eyes vanished in an instant. She grew wary, and her tone became frosty. "What about it? If you’re looking to acquire knowledge about the destiny divination system, then I’m afraid I have to apologize."

’Oh?’

Wei’en raised an eyebrow. ’He had expected the destiny divination system to be important to the Spiritual Mystery School, but he had clearly underestimated just how important.’

"If it were possible to trade for the relevant knowledge, that would be ideal, of course..."

Before he could finish, Nana Mage cut him off. "My apologies, Your Excellency Faceless, but I must take my leave."

"Wait!"

Seeing her turn to leave without hesitation, Wei’en quickly added, "What if I simply wish to hire a Legendary Mage specializing in destiny divination to cast a legendary-grade Destiny Barrier Spell for me?"

"Hmm?"

Nana Mage stopped in her tracks. ’A legendary-grade Destiny Barrier Spell... Now, that’s a different story.’

In the past, plenty of Extraordinaries, and even wizards from other schools, had approached the Spiritual Mystery School seeking to gain the protection of the Destiny Barrier Spell through a trade.

It was just that very few people directly sought a legendary-grade Destiny Barrier. The price was not something an ordinary wizard could afford.

"Are you certain?"

"Of course."

Nana Mage moved a little closer. "My apologies, Your Excellency Faceless. I was being overly sensitive before."

"It’s nothing," Wei’en chuckled. "It’s what a wizard from the Ghost Soul School should expect."

"Ah, well..." Nana Mage gave an awkward laugh and changed the subject. "Let’s get back to the matter of the Destiny Barrier."

"Mm."

"Within the Spiritual Mystery School, the wizards who specialize in destiny divination aren’t opposed to casting the Destiny Barrier for others. But you should be aware that spells involving destiny usually come with certain limitations, which in severe cases can even be life-threatening."

’Hm?’

’Spells related to destiny can be life-threatening?’

’There are restrictions like that?’

But Wei’en didn’t ask aloud. In truth, his knowledge of the destiny divination system was limited to what he had heard from Director Amidich.

"Therefore, when casting a Destiny Barrier for another Extraordinary, not only must you meet the caster’s terms for the trade, but the crucial part is whether the caster is willing to take on the associated risk..."

Hearing this, Wei’en couldn’t help but give Nana Mage a peculiar look.

’Why does this spiel sound so familiar?’

’He remembered using a similar sales pitch when he sold the Burst Sniper Rifle to Black Jack and Menor, didn’t he?’

’Something about requiring the finest materials and needing to be imbued with the properties of death, and all that...’

’So, is she just trying to drive up the price?’

"Sorry to interrupt, but what kind of price would I specifically need to pay? Or perhaps you could just put me in touch with a Legendary Mage who’s proficient in destiny divination, and I can contact him myself?"
