Chapter 473 - 198: Pirate Law

  • Next Chapter

Wei’en dodged the bullets and landed on the head of a Water Elemental Spirit, looking down at the people on the surrounded three-masted ship.

"Come to think of it, this is my first time hearing about the Pirate Law... I wonder, could you enlighten me?"

SNAP!

As he spoke, Wei’en snapped his fingers.

The four Water Elemental Spirits roared. Their upper bodies swelled as they opened their massive jaws and shot four jets of water at Inar. A faint, obscure gray light could be seen swirling within the jets.

Inar ignored the water jets, his gaze still fixed on Wei’en. By his senses, these four Water Elemental Spirits weren’t very powerful.

"Go find your answers from the Thunder Giant, Ibrahim Delgado, in the world of the dead!"

Before the words had even left his mouth, the spider legs propping him up on the deck bent slightly, and he charged toward Wei’en. "Jia’an! Yi! Yunus!"

The four spider legs extending from Inar’s body folded into three sections around him, like jointed staves. As he neared Wei’en, the legs shot out like fully drawn bowstrings.

SWISH!

The sharp spider legs sliced through the four jets of water without any resistance, their speed undiminished as they continued toward Wei’en!

’Director Level, is he?’

Wei’en wasn’t too surprised that the jets of water had been destroyed. With his current base stats and Origin Power, the Water Elemental Spirits had inherited forty percent of his attributes and Origin. Their attack power was only comparable to that of a veteran Minister-Level Extraordinary.

’However... Talent: Spiritual Conversion. Convert Toughness to Spirit. Ten thousand!’

"ROAR!!"

After Wei’en activated his talent and converted his base stats, the four Water Elemental Spirits’ fluorescent blue eyes, now flecked with gray light, once again spat out jets of water. Though launched second, they shot forward and reached Inar first.

With a Spirit stat of four thousand, amplified by fifteen hundred percent from his Origin, the attack power of the water jets was now comparable to the Director Level!

"It’s useless, kid! Die— Huh?!"

As Inar tried to slice through the water jets just as before, his body was sent flying backward the moment his limbs made contact, a look of bewilderment on his face.

BOOM!

A deafening RUMBLE echoed across the sea. The four combined jets of water blasted Inar beneath the surface, exploding into a wave dozens of meters high.

[Your Water Elemental Spirit’s attack has hit Inar West, triggering Death Trait: Senescence. Current progress: 60/100. Evaluation: Looks intimidating, but the attack is pathetically weak. Special Reward: Survival Points +10, Spirit +1.]

A smile touched Wei’en’s lips as he watched.

’Just as I thought. The Water Elemental Spirits’ stats change in real-time based on my own. This means I can adjust my strategy and counter different enemies on the fly.’

He immediately dismissed the system panel’s mocking evaluation.

The attack power might be weak, but the sheer size of the Water Elemental Spirits was incredibly intimidating. Especially at sea, smaller sailing ships wouldn’t even last a single round against them.

’The system panel doesn’t know a damn thing...’

"Huh?"

As Wei’en waited for Inar to emerge from the sea, he caught a glimpse of Clelia out of the corner of his eye. She was already aboard the three-masted ship. Moving like an elegant noblewoman in a dance, she turned the sailors into puppets before they could even react.

’That’s Clelia’s style, all right. So... frugal. She clearly had no intention of leaving any sailors with their own free will.’

Wei’en had to speak up. "Clelia, leave some of the sailors. Ronan Second Officer needs a crew to look after our ship."

"You should have said so earlier, Captain. I thought they were all for me." Clelia stopped what she was doing and flew directly back to the *Leonard*.

Wei’en was dumbfounded. "You didn’t turn all of them into puppets, did you?"

"No,"

A brilliant smile spread across Clelia’s face as she pointed a finger at the three-masted ship. "There’s about a fifth of them left."

As she spoke, sailor after sailor transformed into copies of Clelia. Only their equipment and weapons still hinted at their original identities.

"A demon! That woman is a demon!"

"Voyno? You damned woman, how dare you turn my Voyno into a woman!"

"It’s over, we’re finished... Captain Inar, why didn’t you listen to Lady Antonella’s command!"

"..."

Fewer than thirty sailors remained. They scrambled away from the Clelia-clones, brandishing their weapons in terror as if trying to stop themselves from being infected by the "puppet" virus.

Meanwhile, on the other three-masted ship, Antonella Wester watched in horror as Inar’s crew were turned into puppets by that terrifying woman. Cold sweat streamed down her face, which had gone deathly pale.

"Look over there!"

"My god!"

"Are... are they all dead?"

"They must be! I bet even their souls were wiped out!"

All the sailors standing behind Antonella couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. As much as they hated being forced into piracy, they were clearly more afraid of death—especially of being turned into someone else’s puppet, their bodies controlled to do who-knows-what...

"All of you, shut up!" Antonella hissed, signaling for everyone to be quiet.

Her gaze was fixed on Wei’en, who stood upon the head of the Water Elemental Spirit. She knew in her heart that their survival now depended entirely on that Wizard.

’Sigh... You can always earn back lost gold pounds, but once a life is lost... it’s gone for good!’

’After so many years in the Wester Clan, how could he forget such a crucial maxim? Inar, how the hell could you forget?!’
