"Four heads... ’I feel like I’ve forgotten something important...’"

Wei’en stared blankly at Zero, his gaze filled with confusion.

Four heads?

Four source bodies?

Since when did he have four source bodies?

’That’s it!’

’It was the upgrade to the Ghost Soul School’s Meditation Technique!’

When he first learned the Meditation Technique, he only had one head—Ghost. He remembered the first time he learned to coat his fists with Spiritual Power and beat Ghost to a pulp.

Then came the first upgrade to the Meditation Technique. The number of source bodies went from one to two, with the second being Driver.

After that, when he advanced to Advanced Wizard Apprentice, he upgraded the Meditation Technique a second time. The source bodies increased from two to four, adding the two heads, Secret Master and Red Heart.

By this logic, when he advanced to a full Wizard, the number of source bodies should have become eight.

No,

At the current level of his Ghost Meditation Technique, he should have sixteen source bodies!

Wei’en muttered to himself, "Normally, it should be sixteen bodies... The number of source bodies, which was supposed to double, has suddenly been fixed at four..."

Why was he only noticing something so obvious now?

If he had noticed this earlier, even if no new source bodies had appeared, he wouldn’t be this shocked.

Given the bizarre nature of the Ghost Meditation Technique, any outcome could be considered normal.

There were many possible reasons. For instance, perhaps the number of source bodies stopped increasing after he became a Wizard, or maybe the maximum number of source bodies was simply four.

He could seek verification from the Ghost Soul School, he could try to research it himself—there were many ways to find the answer...

But it definitely shouldn’t be like this!

After upgrading the Ghost Meditation Technique twice in a row, the number of source bodies hadn’t changed at all—and he had been completely oblivious to it!

"Tsk!"

’Things just got interesting!’

He had thought that with the panel, he would be notified of the effects of any Extraordinary traits.

He never expected a time would come when his consciousness could be twisted by an "unknown existence." The chilling sensation... it sent a flicker of panic through his heart.

’Who could it be?’

’The person trapped under the giant withered tree he encountered during a Meditation upgrade?’

’Or is it an inherent effect of the Ghost Meditation Technique itself?’

’Or perhaps an entity that even the panel cannot detect?’

’That last possibility is extremely low.’

The panel could freely evaluate beings like the Lord of Dawn and the Lord of Despair. If an entity capable of blocking the panel was truly making a move on him... he might as well just give up and go to sleep. There would be no point in struggling.

’Finally, could it be the pa—?’

At this thought, Wei’en’s heart went cold. He shook his head, refusing to think about it any further.

He had no clue as to the cause of this situation. Thinking too much would only make him hesitant and overly cautious...

However, now that he had noticed the problem, he couldn’t just ignore it.

And the only thing he could do right now was—stop upgrading the Ghost Meditation Technique!

Whatever the "unknown existence’s" goal was, whether it was to devour his source bodies or merge the extra ones into Ghost and the other heads...

The best course of action was to not let it have its way!

After a long silence, some of the light returned to Wei’en’s red eyes. He patted Tina’s head. "You and Shawa should go study the Gonzalez language for now."

Tina tilted her head up to look at him. Her vacant eyes seemed to sense the deep turmoil in his heart. She gently reached out her small hand and took his large one. "Tina, here."

"I’m fine, don’t worry."

A faint smile appeared on Wei’en’s face. He waved to Miss Zombie. "Take Tina to study. I’ll check on your progress tonight."

"Got it."

Shawa tilted her head, looking at the two of them suspiciously. ’Did I miss something earlier? I feel like their conversation implies they just went through something together.’

"Go on, Tina."

"Tina, study."

The white-haired girl followed Miss Zombie into her workshop, her face expressionless.

Er...

As the door opened, Wei’en caught a glimpse of the utter chaos inside the workshop and couldn’t help but laugh. "Shawa, do you need me to help you clean your room?"

"No, I don’t, what room?"

Miss Zombie hurriedly pushed the door almost shut, leaving only a tiny crack. Her one good eye stared at Wei’en through the gap. "You saw wrong. I absolutely did not blow up the drill press again."

With that, she slammed the door shut, closing the final gap.

Wei’en: "..."

’The drill press didn’t explode, but how do you explain the damage marks on all that material?’

"CLICK-CLICK-CLICK," Zero, who had also seen the mess, clutched the Rune Core on its abdomen and laughed. "Father, Shawa’s progress is slower than mine."

BANG!

Wei’en smacked him on the head. "Your progress isn’t that much faster!" he said irritably. "Come on, I’m going to check on you. For every mistake you make, I’ll beat you to death!"

"Beat me to death? No, Father... Driver Baba?"

’He’s calling me?’

The floating Driver quickly turned his head away, showing Wei’en the back of it, pretending he hadn’t heard a thing.

Meanwhile, Ghost and the others clamped their mouths shut, terrified of getting dragged into it.

"Hmph!"

Wei’en snorted and glared at the four heads in midair. "Same goes for all of you. Next time you do something unnecessary, I’ll beat you to death too!"

As he spoke, he raised his fist, gathering a terrifying ball of Spiritual Power—invisible, yet powerful enough to make the surrounding space ripple. "I don’t think any of you want to test this right now, do you?"

"Baba, I was wrong! It was all Driver’s idea," Ghost said first, immediately selling Driver out.
