Chapter 1571: What are they seeing?

The problem that Lin Fan faced now was that Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu were still inside of the illusion array.

He could feel the force that was coming from their hands, so he knew that whatever they were facing in the illusion array was having quite the effect on them.

Though there was one thing that he had to wonder about.

"What is Xiao Mu even seeing?"

It wasn’t as if it had been that long since Xiao Mu had gained sentience, so it wasn’t as if there was much that Xiao Mu had seen. This illusion array was one that drew on memories, so it wasn’t as if there would be much from Xiao Mu that it could draw on.

Yet there was such a reaction from Xiao Mu.

Which was why Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering just what it was that Xiao Mu was seeing.

But in the end, it seemed like they were able to break through the illusion array. Lin Fan could feel the pressure on his shoulders disappearing, which meant that they were coming out of the illusion.

The one that he felt first came from Ye Qing Huan, so he turned around to look at her.

Before this, it didn’t seem like there were any expressions that were on Ye Qing Huan’s face as she stared forward almost in a daze. But now, it seemed like she was slowly coming back to her senses with how her expression changed.

Though Lin Fan couldn’t stop a chill from running down his spine the moment that he saw the way that she looked at him.

When Ye Qing Huan came out of the illusion, she narrowed his eyes to look at him as if she was seeing him for the first time. At the same time, there was this small chill that was in her eyes.

The way that she looked at him was almost as if he had done something that had wronged her.

Naturally Lin Fan hadn’t actually done something like this, so the only explanation was that Ye Qing Huan had seen something similar inside of the illusion.

This was also proven when Ye Qing Huan’s expression slowly reverted back to normal. She understood that she had left the illusion and had returned to the real world when she saw the way that Lin Fan looked at her.

Though she didn’t seem to let this go completely as she pinched Lin Fan, which caused a wry smile to appear on his face. But at the same time, there was this small tear that came out of the corner of his eye as well.

The pain that came from Ye Qing Huan pinching him wasn’t something that he could just ignore that easily.

When Xiao Mu woke up, there was a strange reaction that came from it.

It looked at Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan before suddenly...bursting into tears.

Both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan didn’t know what to do when they saw Xiao Mu acting like this, but eventually Xiao Mu seemed to calm down.

"I’m sorry, that was embarrassing." Xiao Mu apologized, but neither Lin Fan or Ye Qing Huan accepted it since there was no need for it to apologize.

Whatever it saw had a large effect on it, so they both tried to ask about what happened. But in the end, Xiao Mu just brushed them off before saying, "It’s fine, I’ve already confirmed it."

They were a bit confused about what Xiao Mu meant by this, but it didn’t seem like Xiao Mu said this just for the sake of saying it. Whatever happened, Xiao Mu did indeed seem to work through it.

Once all three of them came out of the illusion, they continued forward.

Since they now had an idea of what this place was, it was easier for them to deal with whatever would come their way in the future. If they were prepared, then it would certainly be possible for them to deal with any illusions that came.

At the same time, they could tell that this place wasn’t actually designed to harm the ones that entered. It was a place that was designed to strengthen one against the trauma that they saw in the illusions.

So it could be said that this was one of the training facilities of the Dao Sect.

Once they walked into the second room, the same thing happened where illusions appeared once more.

But this time, the illusions weren’t about past trauma.

"Mom? Dad?" Lin Fan couldn’t help being surprised by the ones that appeared in front of him.

These weren’t the parents of the body that he had taken over, but rather his parents in his past life. They were the ones that he had left behind when he had been brought into this world.

He had thought about how they would react to the news that he had died, but he didn’t have the chance to find out since he had been brought to a new world.

Even now, he knew that these were nothing more than illusions that had been created by the illusion array.

It was just that knowing this wasn’t that useful for what came next.

"Die."

Lin Fan was caught off guard when he was suddenly stabbed by his parents.

There were knives that suddenly appeared in the hands of the parents in front of him and they didn’t hesitate at all as they suddenly stabbed those knives into him.

It was just that these knives didn’t do a single thing to him.

Once again, it was an issue of them being normal humans from his past life.

Compared to the current power that he possessed, it wasn’t as if they could actually do anything to him.

When the knives hit Lin Fan’s body, they didn’t insert themselves into him like one would think. Instead, the knives suddenly became bent as if they had hit something hard and were turned into scrap metal.

There wasn’t a single wound that was on Lin Fan, but the illusion of his parents were thrown to the ground since they had used all their strength to stab him. The rebound force that came actually caused them to scatter.

A wry smile appeared on Lin Fan’s face when he saw this, but it was actually a good thing since it wasn’t as if he had the heart to hurt these illusions like with the illusions of the bullies.

It was one thing to scatter the bullies with force, but these were the illusions of his parents.

It really would have been hard for him to do anything to them.

Luckily, they took care of themselves before he had to actually do anything.

Once the illusions disappeared, Lin Fan returned to the same room as before.

He could feel the pressure that was on his shoulders once more and he turned around to see that Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu were stuck in the illusion still. But this time, the expressions on their faces had changed.

Instead of the same dazed looks, the expressions on their faces made it clear what they were going through. Though Lin Fan still couldn’t help wondering what it was specifically that they were seeing.

"The theme before was trauma and this time the theme is betrayal..."

As he thought this, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a chill run down his spine. Especially since he could see the expression that was on Ye Qing Huan’s face.

Last time, she had only pinched his shoulder.

This time, there really was no telling what she would do to him once she woke up.

But this wasn’t what he was focused on right now.

Instead, he looked at the other figure that was in this room.

When they walked into this room, they hadn’t seen this figure since it had been hidden by the illusions. But now that he had broken free from the illusions, Lin Fan could clearly see who it was that was also trapped in this room.

It was a familiar face, it was the Iron Fist King that they had been looking for.

The strange thing was that the Iron Fist King was the only one that was in this room.

From what he had learned from the Poison King and the Fire Fist King, there should have been elders from the other sects that came to this place as well. So it was strange to see that the Iron Fist King was alone in this room.

"Is he the only one that was trapped by this illusion? Did the others pass this illusion and move onto the next room?"

That was the only explanation that Lin Fan could think of, but it wasn’t as if he could move over to see what was wrong with the Iron Fist King. He was still being restrained by Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu.

The only thing that he could do was wait until they had finished with their illusions before actually moving.

However, the look on the Iron Fist King’s face really made him wonder what it was that he was seeing in the illusions that he was being shown.

When Ye Qing Huan finally woke up, it was just as Lin Fan suspected.

"Oof." He couldn’t do anything as she punched him in the stomach all of a sudden.

Then when Xiao Mu woke up, it was the same thing where it started crying.

The reactions that they had to the illusions were consistent, but it also made Lin Fan wonder just what it was they were seeing.
