Chapter 1409: Chapter 1409: You Have a Crush on Someone Again
The first time Knox Simmons saw Scarlett Yates, he was reminded of his first love.
He felt there was something very beautiful in Scarlett, things he himself had already lost and could never get back.
That made them all the more precious.
That was why he couldn’t help wanting to get close to her.
When he was with Scarlett, many feelings that had already been lost slowly came back.
That faint yet comfortable feeling was something he hadn’t experienced for many years.
He was a bit greedy—once he’d tasted certain things, he couldn’t bear to let them go again.
After all, who doesn’t yearn for beautiful things?
Toward Scarlett, he had once held that kind of thought as well, only the timing of his knowing her was wrong. If he’d met her a few months earlier, there’s no way he would have let go of her so easily.
Now, it seemed he had another chance.
If Scarlett really divorced Matthew Saxon and became single again, he was absolutely going to pursue her; no matter what, he had to fight for what he wanted.
"So later... how did you two end up breaking up?"
Knox paused, fell silent for a while, then that wistful, lost look surfaced on his face again. His voice dimmed a little: "She wanted to go after the things she wanted, and back then I was still too young, not brave enough, without the courage and resolve to leave with her. So we broke up, very peacefully."
After another brief silence, he lifted the corner of his lips, slowly turned his head, and his Peach Blossom Eyes blinked at Scarlett: "But she’s doing pretty well now. She’s fulfilled her dream, married a good man, and had a pair of adorable twins—a boy and a girl. In other people’s words, she’s a winner in life, the goddess of many men and women."
Hearing that, Scarlett felt Knox’s first love must be quite famous. Her curiosity burned; after holding it in for a bit, she still couldn’t help asking, "Do I know her too?"
Knox nodded: "Yeah, lots of people know her."
Then he softly said a name.
Scarlett’s expression changed slightly. She stared blankly for several seconds before murmuring, "So it’s her."
Tiffany Buss, a pianist with a modest international reputation, was even more famous domestically—calling her a household name wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
This woman had once also been Scarlett’s goddess.
She combined beauty, nobility, and elegance in one body; whether it was her family background, looks, learning, or personality, she possessed things others could only envy.
Knox Simmons, Tiffany Buss...
These two people with completely different vibes—if Knox hadn’t said it himself, she would never have believed there had ever been something between them.
One was like a dignified, virtuous lady of a prominent family; the other a cynical, devil-may-care Young Master. The two people least likely to fall in love had been each other’s first love.
"Scarlett, there’s nothing time can’t smooth over. You see, back then I thought that besides her, I could never fall for another woman. But as time passed, even the strongest feelings slowly faded."
Was he telling her that she and Matthew would end up like that too?
But right now, Scarlett’s focus wasn’t on that. She stared for a few seconds, then suddenly leaned close to Knox, smiled, and fixed her gaze tightly on him: "Knox Simmons, so what you’re saying is, you’ve fallen for someone again. Who is it? Do I know her?"
