Chapter 1082 - 101: The New Herd of Deer

North.

The South Koreans, Lee Min-jun and Jin Ruiyan, were carrying weapons, tracking a herd of elk.

Though they weren’t well-known internationally, in South Korea, they were quite famous Survivors.

As a couple, they had become South Korea’s representative participants after passing numerous selections by the International Survival Association.

One was skilled in hunting, the other in crafting, making them a complementary team.

Lee Min-jun slung his bow and arrow over his shoulder and quickly climbed up a spruce tree.

He looked southward for a while from above, then deftly slid back down.

"How is it?"

Jin Ruiyan inquired, holding a spear akin to a javelin, her defensive weapon.

Lee Min-jun shook his head: "I can’t see the details clearly, but the herd is indeed moving south."

Upon hearing this, a flicker of resentment flashed across Jin Ruiyan’s altered face: "Those two Indians are utterly useless! If they hadn’t messed up, this herd of elk wouldn’t have seen through our disguise!"

Hearing this, Lee Min-jun shook his head helplessly.

The difficulty of surviving with others is precisely this; their actions are entirely unpredictable and uncontrollable.

Originally, the group of nine planned to hunt together, intending to surround the herd, using traps and weapons to kill as many as possible for food.

But who knew the two Indians in ambush would mess up at the critical moment. Unable to restrain themselves, they directly started hunting just as the encirclement was about to close, and ended up not even touching the elk’s hair, letting them escape.

Subsequently, Lee Min-jun, as the temporary leader, inquired about the situation.

The others, however, showed complete disregard for him, not taking the captain seriously at all.

This, too, was a helpless situation.

As a newcomer, despite being highly capable, Lee Min-jun lacked prestige. Among the nine in the group, aside from his girlfriend Jin Ruiyan and two Thai individuals who listened to him, the other five completely ignored him.

Moreover, those five were not united, with two Indians forming one group and the remaining three forming another.

In a nine-person team, splitting into three small factions, only this team could achieve such a division.

The main issue was that this division plunged the entire team into a very difficult situation; whether it was hunting, constructing shelters, or maintaining camp sanitation, everything was disorganized and wildly inefficient.

"Shall we call upon the Cha brothers and leave the team?"

Jin Ruiyan, being quite decisive, had realized after so many days of interaction that these people weren’t reliable.

Why not leave the team directly, taking supplies and food to find another campsite, and survive on their own?

The Cha brothers were two Thai siblings who previously worked in tourism before becoming Thailand’s representative Survivors due to certain opportunities.

Unlike the decisive Jin Ruiyan, Lee Min-jun was the hesitant type.

After thinking it over, he said, "That might not be good. After all, I was the one who called them over initially, and now if we just leave, they might..."

"Why fear!"

Jin Ruiyan, wielding her spear, had a fierce look in her eyes: "I’ve tolerated them long enough! If worse comes to worst, we eliminate them directly! That way, all the food and supplies are ours!"

Lee Min-jun remained silent, now unsure what the best course of action was.

However, at this moment, a slightly tanned East Asian individual, Cha, approached them.

He addressed Lee Min-jun: "Captain, Ajun and the others went after the elk, what should we do?"

Ajun, the leader among the two Indians.

He had participated in the Mountain Extreme Challenge with Chen Wen, though he had self-eliminated before meeting Chen Wen.

"Sigh..."

Lee Min-jun replied helplessly, "What else can we do, let’s follow and have a look, lest they encounter any danger."

Upon hearing this, Jin Ruiyan snorted, clearly displeased.

...

On Chen Wen’s side.

He and Hua Yun had been on the move for another afternoon.

However, they hadn’t found any good prey, and the only decent quarry was a group of Siberian Roe Deer.

But this group of Siberian Roe Deer was very cautious and fled decisively as soon as they noticed Chen Wen approaching.

At dusk.

Chen Wen gathered some wood and built a simple shelter under a tree.

He and Hua Yun sat around the campfire, discussing their next course of action.

As there were no good prey around, the two decided to continue heading north.

After a night had passed, Chen Wen and Hua Yun quickened their pace the next day.

They traveled through another morning.

Finally, at noon, the Golden Eagle brought some good news.

"There’s prey ahead!"

The Golden Eagle, gripping a pine branch, had excitement glimmering in its eyes: "Though I’ve never seen this kind of prey before, they resemble deer."

Deer?

Chen Wen rubbed his chin and asked the Golden Eagle, "How big are those creatures?"

The Golden Eagle thought for a moment and said, "Quite big, nearly the size of a moose."

That large?

Chen Wen looked surprised.

But the Golden Eagle added, "Female moose, that is."

"Oh, so there are quite a few targets then."

Chen Wen pondered, several names running through his mind, such as Siberian Reindeer, Elk, and Elk.

"How large is their herd gathered?"

Chen Wen asked again.

The Golden Eagle thought again and said, "Not very large, just around a dozen or so."

If it’s just a dozen, then Siberian Reindeer can be ruled out.

In Siberia, Siberian Reindeer are a sight not to be missed, as they gradually gather into large herds in late autumn and early winter.

What initially might be dozens of reindeer can merge into vast herds, reaching hundreds or even thousands.

So, a herd of merely a dozen can’t possibly be Siberian Reindeer.

As for Elk and Elk, both are possible, but what exactly they are requires a closer look.

Chen Wen said, "Then it should be Elk or Elk, let’s go, lead the way, and we’ll see what they are."

The Golden Eagle nodded.

At this moment, Hua Yun, who had been scouting the tracks ahead, returned.

She looked somewhat disappointed and said, "Even though there are footprints, the tracks are so old they’re nearly covered by sand and dust. Sigh, why aren’t there any prey here?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen cheerfully patted Hua Yun’s shoulder: "Don’t worry, soon you’ll have prey. I just heard from the Golden Eagle that there’s a group of rather large prey nearby."

Rather large prey?

Hua Yun’s earlier disappointment vanished, her eyes lit up with excitement: "Let’s go! Let’s have a look!"

Chen Wen glanced at the Golden Eagle, and understanding the signal, it immediately took flight to lead the way.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen and Hua Yun rubbed some pine needle sap on themselves before following immediately.

The sense of smell is strong in forest animals, so this precaution is necessary.
