Chapter 1075 - 94: Tiger Attack

"Watch out!"

Along with Hua Yun’s exclamation, Chen Wen immediately realized that he had been attacked!

The timing of the attacker was extremely clever.

Chen Wen was at that moment stuck mid-way, unable to ascend or descend, suspended on the tree. Being attacked at this moment made Chen Wen very uncomfortable.

However, after all, Chen Wen is different; an ordinary person might not have managed, but Chen Wen is different.

He pushed against the trunk decisively, let go, and both legs kicked forcefully, using the counterforce from the kick on the tree to let himself fly off the trunk like a bird.

The attacker’s strike almost brushed past Chen Wen’s body.

Chen Wen could even feel the air being sliced by its swinging claws.

After dodging the attacker’s strike, Chen Wen stretched his body in midair, executed a backflip, and landed his legs on the ground.

Upon landing, Chen Wen bent his knees, shedding most of the force.

He suddenly lifted his head, looking towards the creature that had attacked him.

Just a glimpse, and Chen Wen’s expression instantly changed.

The animal that attacked him was totally unexpected; it was a tiger!

This tiger had a collar around its neck, instantly reminding Chen Wen of what Arseny had mentioned about the Northeast Tiger.

He quickly stood up and picked up the stone spear, positioning it between the Northeast Tiger and himself.

Realizing its attack missed, the Northeast Tiger appeared a bit panicked.

It looked at the spear in Chen Wen’s hand, momentarily daunted.

"Roar!"

The intense roar of the tiger sounded, and Chen Wen felt goosebumps rise on his arms.

Dammit!

Encountering such a creature in the wild, anyone would panic a bit!

He thought to himself, but outwardly, he showed no signs of fear.

Chen Wen stared into the eyes of the Northeast Tiger, trying to sense its emotions.

This Northeast Tiger had been tamed, its wild nature might not be so strong, maybe it could be scared off or tamed.

Chen Wen pondered, but after looking into the eyes of the Northeast Tiger, he started to have doubts.

How come this creature doesn’t seem like it’s been tamed?

Why were its eyes full of wildness?

Chen Wen looked into the eyes of the Northeast Tiger and took a step forward.

The Northeast Tiger roared again, but facing the stone spear, it timidly stepped back half a step.

Chen Wen’s eyes brightened.

This creature has some issues!

It had been tamed, but as Arseny mentioned, it was tamed during its youth, which is completely different from Northeast Tigers tamed in infancy, like Big Orange.

It carried wildness within!

Being in the wild for so long, this wildness had been stimulated.

But due to being tamed, although it had wildness, it also had a deep fear of humans.

Chen Wen, having studied some materials related to beast taming, understood this.

Beast taming is actually quite a cruel process.

The Beast Tamer would constantly suppress the beast’s wildness during training, making them more obedient to humans, more compliant, which naturally involves hunger and whipping.

After all, beasts don’t understand human language; to make them obedient, they must realize humans are far more powerful than them.

The better the Beast Tamer, the more brutal the training process.

Only this way can they make the beast obedient.

Of course, there are occasional exceptions, but generally, it is this way.

Thus, those able to tame the Northeast Tiger are likely to employ the best Beast Tamers, maintaining the tiger’s fear of humans!

The reason it attacked.

Chen Wen glanced at the Northeast Tiger’s somewhat emaciated belly; it seemed this creature was starving!

To make a beast actively attack humans, aside from humans intruding into their territory, is hunger.

During the standoff between Chen Wen and the Northeast Tiger, Hua Yun came hurriedly with the spear Chen Wen had thrown.

"Take it."

Hua Yun handed over the spear, her eyes fixated on the tiger before them.

Honestly, it was the first time Hua Yun encountered such a beast in the wild.

She had seen some tigers before, but only in zoos, watching through thick glass or cages.

Back then, Hua Yun didn’t feel the tiger was anywhere near fearsome, but now facing a tiger unimpeded by barriers, the fear embedded in her genes started to unravel and slowly invade her mind.

"This creature..."

Hua Yun said, inhaling deeply, "Do you have any ideas?"

"Let’s try scaring it off; not much else can be done against it."

Chen Wen spoke, advancing another step with the spear.

The blood-stained spear made the Northeast Tiger more fearful, it was very afraid of Chen Wen.

It could sense that Chen Wen could kill it!

Thus, facing Chen Wen’s advance, the Northeast Tiger decisively abandoned Chen Wen, sprinting towards the dead Moose.

Seeing this, Chen Wen’s expression changed: "Damn! It’s headed for the Moose!"

He said and quickly followed.

Chen Wen had no intention of sharing his food with this Northeast Tiger.

After all, it attacked him right when it appeared.

This left Chen Wen somewhat unhappy.

He strode quickly to catch up, and Hua Yun, though fearful, tightly grasped the stone spear and followed behind Chen Wen.

This creature!

Not cautious enough!

Hua Yun thought.

...

In the forest, the Northeast Tiger’s speed is much faster than the two of them.

It reached the Moose’s side, and following its instincts, opened its mouth to bite the Moose’s neck, attempting to drag it.

However, the Northeast Tiger’s strength was far from enough to drag away the Moose.

A male Moose typically weighs five to six hundred kilograms, and even a large Northeast Tiger would find dragging a Moose very strenuous, let alone this recently matured Northeast Tiger.

After dragging twice, finding its strength seemed insufficient.

Moreover, Chen Wen and Hua Yun seemed to be catching up quickly.

The Northeast Tiger panicked and considered releasing its grip and running away.

But the creature foolishly stepped on the Moose’s last remaining antler.

The forked antler snagged the Northeast Tiger’s leg, momentarily halting its movements.

And in that moment, Chen Wen had caught up.

The Northeast Tiger panicked, instinctively baring its teeth at Chen Wen, roaring, but Chen Wen didn’t indulge it, raising the spear and striking down.

He didn’t stab.

This strike aimed mainly to drive the Northeast Tiger away, best making it leave far so as to not obstruct their subsequent work.

The spear solidly hit the Northeast Tiger’s back.

The Northeast Tiger, struck, seemed to recall something, letting out a howl similar to an anguished cry, quickly halting its actions, and stupidly sat motionless on the spot.

Chen Wen was stunned, and Hua Yun, who caught up, was also stunned.

The two of them bewilderedly looked at the Northeast Tiger, contemplating its situation.

Chen Wen hissed, "One strike and it’s docile; could it be that the Beast Tamer trained it by striking it with a stick, drilled it into submission? Is this a conditioned reflex?"

Hua Yun nodded slightly, "Very likely!"

While the two of them spoke, the sitting Northeast Tiger seemed to recall something else.

It growled softly while lying down, resembling a well-behaved cat.

This scene surprised Chen Wen.

After hesitating, Chen Wen swung the spear, attempting to drive the Northeast Tiger away.

Chen Wen’s actions left the Northeast Tiger bewildered, but seeing Chen Wen had no intention of hurting, the creature continued to growl softly, looking reluctantly at the Moose, slowly retreating.

This action left Chen Wen somewhat helpless.

This creature...

He planted the spear into the ground and took out his dagger.
