Chapter 286 - 285: Turn-off Guy

Jian Yu glanced up at him.

’His skin is so fair, and his profile is so handsome,’ she thought. ’The Golden Feathers on his clothes are so eye-catching, and that glow around him... it looks a little like...’

Jian Yu snapped back to reality.

With a casual flick of her right hand, she produced several plants and offered them to Pei Yin. "Do you need any 3S-tier Beast Plants? My specialty isn’t medicine, so they might be going to waste with me."

She had originally thought she could absorb them the same way she absorbed Beast Crystals, but she later discovered that wasn’t the case.

Jian Yu had even tried to imitate a Soul Beast by eating a Beast Plant directly, secretly chewing on a few leaves, but she hadn’t felt a thing.

Facing Pei Yin’s sparkling eyes, her gaze shifted away. "The 3S Elemental Beasts I met in the Ultimate Eye were very friendly. They gave these to me. I don’t know how to use them, and I was afraid of wasting them, so I haven’t touched them."

Pei Yin reached out in astonishment. "Let me see."

He eagerly held one by the root. "The quality is amazing. The last time I saw a 3S-tier Beast Plant was back at the research institute when I was assisting my professor."

Jian Yu looked at the deeply sleeping Ling Yanzhi, then turned her head to stare at Xi Yu for a few moments.

She nervously twisted the hem of her dress. "Can these be used for Ayan and the others in their condition?"

"Of course." Pei Yin eagerly headed over to the lab station.

"I’ll prepare it for them right now. There will probably be a lot left over. I can use the rest to refine some medicine to expand your soul domain. I’m not sure if an Evolution Potion would work on you, but we could try that too."

Pei Yin kept his head down, his fingers covered by medical gloves. "You can’t eat High-level Beast Plants directly. They’re much more effective when made into an injectable medicine."

Jian Yu nervously wrung the hem of her dress. "What happens if you eat them directly?"

"Other people would probably get diarrhea. But you," Pei Yin looked up, hesitating, "probably nothing would happen. It’s just that you wouldn’t absorb it in the right way, so it would likely be useless."

Jian Yu rummaged through her Space Ring. "I have some Beast Crystals of the same level, too."

"Okay, I’ll have to trouble you then." Jian Yu placed the Beast Crystals on a small table that rose up beside her.

"Don’t be so polite with me." Pei Yin looked up and saw her sitting there obediently, her fingers fiddling with the Beast Crystals as she examined them, her big eyes wide and round.

His Adam’s apple bobbed. Pei Yin’s gaze locked onto her for a moment.

His eyes shifted to the side. There was Si Xu, that giant third wheel, holding onto her and not letting go.

’Shameless!’

Pei Yin tore his gaze away and carefully began extracting the liquid from the Beast Plant.

Si Xu’s eyes were vacant. "Am I misremembering? Wasn’t Yan Ying’s Soul Beast a Green Wolf?"

Jian Yu turned her head. "That’s right, it was a Green Wolf."

She’d seen it before. When Zhang Qin went to fight, Yan Ying had summoned a wolf that was green.

But Duan Feiye’s Soul Beast is a Flowing Fire Firefly.

Pei Yin’s is a Green-eyed Long-clawed Eagle.

And Yan Ying’s was a wolf... That created a bit of a contradiction.

Pei Yin didn’t stop what he was doing. "A failed experiment would also leave a trace. The aura you sensed might just be a remnant of a failure. It’s possible she really did try to fuse with three Soul Beasts before."

Without looking up, Pei Yin added, "But I’m certain I’ve never been captured. If someone had experimented on me, there’s no way I wouldn’t know."

He stepped away from the lab station and, with a frown, lifted Sheng Yue out of the medicinal bath.

The drying room let out a low WHIRR.

Pei Yin gave Ling Yanzhi and Xi Yu a thorough full-body examination.

Once Sheng Yue was dry, clothes and all, he pulled out a slide-like ramp and moved him onto a medical bed.

’The Alliance really did have some foresight,’ he thought. ’They said I spent all day in Zone Five and never even clocked in at the main base’s research center. So, just in case someone needed me for an emergency, they sent people to build a few dozen medical beds here in Zone Five without even waiting for an application.’

But on second thought, it felt like a real jinx.

’The Alliance and my brothers just have bad chemistry. These beds are a jinx on them too. The moment the beds arrived, my brothers ended up lying in them.’

His three brothers were lying in a row, and Pei Yin injected them with the medicine one by one.

Jian Yu crouched by the beds.

One moment, she was holding Ling Yanzhi’s hand; the next, she was squeezing Xi Yu’s arm. Occasionally, she would lean over to touch Sheng Yue’s forehead.

Pei Yin subconsciously tensed his biceps.

’I need to work out,’ he thought. ’My girl seems to really like squeezing muscles.’

He worked out the least among his brothers; he only had a four-pack.

’My arm muscles aren’t that big either. I just have a decent frame—tall with broad shoulders.’

Dejectedly, Pei Yin squeezed Si Xu’s arm.

’How are Brother Bu Xu’s muscles harder than before?’

"Have you been secretly working out behind my back?"

Si Xu glanced down at him. "How could a common mortal such as yourself compare to me?"

Pei Yin: "..."

He bent down and gently ruffled Jian Yu’s hair. "There’s no use thinking so much. Go get some sleep. Look, you have dark circles under your eyes. Are you hungry? Do you want to eat now, or should I call you for dinner later?"

Jian Yu replied, "I’ve already eaten. I’ll wait for dinner."

She walked back to Ling Yanzhi’s bed and started to climb onto it.

Si Xu wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her up with one hand.

He straightened his posture slightly, and a Golden Gate flashed open. The two of them vanished in an instant.

A single Golden Feather floated down defiantly, landing right under Pei Yin’s nose.

Pei Yin let out a laugh of pure fury. "All he ever thinks about is that one thing. What a turn-off. Filthy, shameless, bastard! A fucking moron ruled by his dick!"
