Yun Sika was dismissive. "What’s there to investigate? No matter who comes to the Lower City District, could they be more powerful than my family?"

He had gone to the auction house at noon, hadn’t had enough money, and was outbid. His mood was absolutely foul.

Now, he was itching to find some outsiders to take his anger out on.

Yun Sika swaggered leisurely into the villa.

With his nose in the air, his voice dripped with arrogance. "This is the house I intend to purchase. You outsiders have dirtied up my place. So, tell me, how do you plan to compensate me?"

Yun Sika failed to notice the ghastly expressions on the faces of the men he had brought with him.

He lifted his chin impatiently. "Are you deaf? I know you called for help, but waiting for the Star Police is useless. They’re all my people. Be smart, hand over everything of value on you, and I might just let you live."

He deigned to lower his head, first meeting Ling Yanzhi’s mocking smile, then glimpsing Xi Yu’s deep, somber eyes.

’Why are these two lunatics here?’

Yun Sika’s face went white, and he dropped to his knees. "A misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding!"

With a series of thuds, everyone else dropped to their knees behind him.

Yun Sika felt a surge of indignation.

’They could have knelt at any time, so what was the point of kneeling right after I did?’

’They have no foresight whatsoever! If they’d had the sense to kneel beforehand, it would have been a hint for me.’

’If I’d seen them all kneeling from a distance before I walked in, I would’ve known not to mess with the people in there, wouldn’t I?’

’Idiots!’

Yun Sika grabbed the man next to him. "He’s the one who made me come! It wasn’t my idea, he egged me on!"

The blood drained from the face of the man who’d been grabbed by the collar, his expression a mixture of confusion and dawning terror.

His mouth worked, but no words came out. He lowered his head, his eyes turning dull and lifeless.

Sheng Yue’s fingertips tapped lightly on the table. "The Star Police are your people?"

Cold sweat dripped down Yun Sika’s back. "N-no, that was just... just me talking nonsense. You can’t take it seriously."

He was a rich brat, not a complete idiot.

If he actually mentioned his uncle, his family would be truly finished.

Gu Qi planted his hands on his hips and shot to his feet. "Still denying it? I called for help ages ago and nobody showed up. I heard everything you just said! Were you just talking out of your ass?"

It had made him run around hiding like an idiot, turning off lights and counting people. He’d lost all face and dignity.

Riding on his friends’ coattails, Gu Qi retorted, "This is the house I was preparing to purchase—the paperwork was going to be filed tomorrow. You locals have dirtied up my house. So, tell me, how do you plan to compensate us?"

Yun Sika’s eyes widened.

’Why... why does that sound so familiar?’

Before he could make sense of it, Gu Qi planted his left hand on his hip, pointed his right index finger at him, and started jabbing it in his direction.

He unleashed a torrent of insults.

Finally, Gu Qi lifted his chin with an impatient look. "Are you deaf? I know you’ve got people inside the station, so waiting for the Star Police is useless. They’re all your people. Therefore, I’m not going to bother reporting this. You’d better be smart and hand over everything of value. If you do, I might just let you live."

He nudged Yun Sika with his foot. "Get on with it."

Everyone: "..."

’You can actually do that!?’

Jian Yu turned to look at Gu Qi, her topknot trembling slightly with the movement. Her eyes were sparkling with a mix of anticipation and mischief.

Yun Sika waited for a few seconds, but Sheng Yue and the others still showed no reaction.

He mulled it over for a moment. "Um, how about I buy the house and have the deed transferred to you tomorrow?"

Gu Qi wagged his finger. "Nope. You’ve dirtied this house just by stepping in it. I don’t want it anymore. I’ll have to buy one somewhere else."

He then made an exorbitant demand. "I want a house on Central Street of the Imperial Capital Star, and it has to be bigger than this little villa. As for compensation... let’s just say a few million Star Coins will do."

He activated his Star Brain.

Gu Qi held out his hand. "Three seconds. Transfer it now!"

Wincing in pain, Yun Sika transferred three million over, his handsome face a mask of agony.

Jian Yu blinked. She was tempted.

’Was she really tempted?’

’No, she was scheming!’

She sidled up and activated her Star Brain. "I want some too!"

Yun Sika’s gray-blue eyes stared at her coldly.

Jian Yu’s eyes widened, her long lashes fluttering. "Transfer!"

Yun Sika recognized her.

’It’s that Level 3S Awakener who was all over the hot search. Too bad her Soul Beast is a Healing Attribute.’

’She really is gorgeous, though.’

’It’s a shame she didn’t come alone today.’

Yun Sika lowered his head, a look of undisguised cruelty in his eyes.

As the blue light of the Star Brain floated in the air, he acted on his hidden thoughts, transferring his entire balance to Jian Yu while letting his fingers brush against her wrist.

A flash of disgust crossed Jian Yu’s eyes.

She casually summoned the Purple Fog and, without warning, drove it straight into Yun Sika’s heart.

Accompanied by the pressure from the other three Level 3S individuals, Yun Sika crashed to the ground with a dull THUD.

Even as he died, he couldn’t understand why she had suddenly attacked.

Screams erupted one after another.

Everyone stared in horror at Yun Sika’s corpse.

Tainted blood poured from his arms, his cheeks, and all seven orifices of his head.

Blood seeped from every pore, splattering all over his clothes.

While begging for mercy, they started shifting the blame, trying to absolve themselves of any connection to the incident.

Annoyed by the noise, Red Snake sent its duplicates slithering to their feet, forcibly silencing them.

The spacious living room fell silent once more.

Gu Qi’s heart was pounding in his chest.

He had killed before, and because of what happened with that captain, he was particularly sensitive to Yun Sika’s lecherous gaze.

’A guy like Yun Sika was nothing but a scumbag who’d beat up old people and kick little kids. Keeping him around would do no good.’

’Still...’ Gu Qi was worried about Jian Yu.

’As a man, he knew how other men’s minds worked. He was worried that seeing Jian Yu’s ruthless side might make Xi Yu and the others uneasy.’

Gu Qi instinctively glanced at Sheng Yue and the others’ expressions.

Every one of them had a grim look in their eyes, their faces filled with savage hostility.

Gu Qi didn’t dare to look for long and quickly lowered his head.

He looked down at the blood spattered on his pant leg, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw a dense swarm of tiny snakes crawling over Yun Sika’s body.

In moments, the corpse was devoured by the swarm.

Gu Qi’s brain shut down. He stared blankly into space.

When he snapped out of it, he saw Ling Yanzhi wiping Jian Yu’s hands with a handkerchief.

Ling Yanzhi’s long lashes rested quietly on his eyelids, his usually defiant features softened into a rare gentleness. With his red lips and pale skin, he gave off an overwhelming aura of youth.

Gu Qi pressed his lips together, nervously clenching his fists.

’He’d forgotten. To the rich and powerful, something like this was nothing at all.’

’If Jian Yu enjoyed killing, Ling Yanzhi would probably be the one standing beside her, handing her the knife.’

’He could just picture Ling Yanzhi suddenly pulling out a knife, laughing nonchalantly, and saying, "Here, have some fun. White blade goes in, red blade comes out. It’s quite simple."’

Gu Qi pictured the scene in his mind, and his lips couldn’t help but tremble.

A RUMBLE... RUMBLE... echoed from the sky.

It was a Starship.

’More people are here?’

Gu Qi walked on unsteady legs over to Sheng Yue’s side, seeking shelter.

The Starship hovered in the air, and people began jumping out of it one after another.

Gu Qi whispered, "A lot of high-level Awakeners have come this time."

Sheng Yue and Xi Yu stood up.

Ling Yanzhi picked up Jian Yu.

Gu Qi thought they were about to fight those people to the death.

But to his surprise, the people who entered swept their gaze around the room, then bowed deeply to Ling Yanzhi. "Family Head."

Ling Yanzhi said, "Investigate the local Star Police station. Leave a few men behind to clean this up before you return."

Gu Qi breathed a sigh of relief. ’No wonder they didn’t go upstairs to sleep,’ he thought. ’They were waiting to be picked up.’
