Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?
Chapter 258: Imaginary Space (Gradeless, Easter Egg)
Chapter 258: Chapter 258: Imaginary Space (Gradeless, Easter Egg)
[Easter Egg Talent Extraction Mechanism]
Seeing the glaring notification that suddenly popped up on the system panel, Lance was stunned.
This was the first time since he’d acquired the Biological Research System that he had seen such a peculiar entry on the extraction interface.
’If I can’t extract a Talent from a Bomb Goblin, does that mean my Talents are drawn randomly from the natural world?’
The system seemed to sense his confusion, and the Talent extraction continued at a rapid pace.
[Target lacks a conventional biological Sequence.]
[Current Talent will be forcibly extracted directly from the Traits of the Underground City...]
[Solidifying Special Racial Talent for you: Imaginary Space (Gradeless · Easter Egg)]
[Description: At that moment, your soul’s frequency achieved a wondrous resonance with the spatial folds of the Chaos Dimension. Using this minuscule point of resonance, the system has forcibly anchored an absolutely private Imaginary Space for you in the void beyond the dimension of reality.]
[Effect: Your maximum Perception Attribute is increased by 1. You also permanently gain an exclusive "Imaginary Number Dark Grid" with a volume of 10 cubic meters.]
[Restriction Rules: As this dark grid is anchored to the Chaos Dimension, it can only be used to store specific items carrying the "Underground City" or "Chaos" rule tags.]
[Special Benefit: The Energy fluctuations emitted by all items stored within the dark grid will be completely shielded by the imaginary dimension, making them perfectly immune to direct perception by any known detection method in the real world.]
The moment the Talent extraction finished, Lance’s physical sensations were completely different from the previous crude bodily modifications.
He felt a subtle numbness deep within his brow.
Immediately after, his consciousness seemed to break through some invisible barrier of reality, establishing a spiritual connection with a pitch-black space.
The feeling was incredibly subtle, as if an unseen chamber had appeared out of thin air within his own body.
He only needed his Telekinesis to stir slightly, and he could effortlessly retrieve items from that space or place eligible ones inside.
Just as Lance was joyfully closing his eyes to experience his newly acquired Imaginary Number Dark Grid, a sudden prompt quietly appeared.
[Alert: The chaotic will of the Underground City is observing you with confusion...]
’Confused about what?’
’Is it because I exploited a loophole and stole a piece of its space?’
Lance shrugged, unconcerned.
’This crappy Underground City has dropped plenty of good stuff for me today. It can watch all it wants.’
In truth, Lance was well aware of the immense value of this Talent.
This Imaginary Number Dark Grid was his first tangible contact with a wondrous ability related to spatial manipulation since arriving in this Otherworld.
After all, in the Material Realm, any piece of Alchemy Equipment with a storage function was considered the most expensive and rarest luxury item of its grade.
Even when such equipment occasionally made its way to the market, its capacity was not only pathetically small, but it also came with all sorts of strict restrictions on what could be stored.
He had only heard Uncle Rein mention in passing that the Royal Secret Vault was said to be the only place with strategic-level spatial transport equipment, the kind capable of moving an entire army’s logistical supplies.
A treasure of that caliber, among the Royal Family’s collection, could easily be venerated as a National Divine Artifact.
And now, simply by grinding a horde of low-level Bomb Goblins, he had scored for free a miraculous ability that would likely make even a Great Noble green with envy.
Although the rules for the dark grid clearly limited it to items related to the Underground City or Chaos, Lance wasn’t the least bit disappointed.
He had been constantly worrying about how inconvenient it was to carry all the loot that dropped during his rampages through the Underground City.
Now, things were perfect. With this dark grid, he could shove everything inside and no longer have to run around like a pack mule.
Moreover, the hidden tactical potential of this Talent was astounding.
He had long had his eye on the Alchemy Explosives carried by the Bomb Goblins.
Previously, he’d found them too cumbersome to carry. During battle, he could only rely on his Royal Armory to grab and use them on the fly, which severely limited his efficiency.
Now, with this portable space, he could start hoarding those Alchemy Explosives without restraint.
A space of 10 cubic meters might not sound like much.
But in terms of actual volume, it was equivalent to a small warehouse.
The Alchemy Explosives were only the size of an adult’s palm. If arranged neatly, the Imaginary Number Dark Grid could probably hold tens of thousands of them with room to spare.
Coupled with the Imaginary Space’s inherent concealment properties, like its ability to shield perception, the possibilities were endless.
If he really did fill the dark grid with tens of thousands of Alchemy Explosives...
...then he would become a walking, talking human nuke with its stealth maxed out.
Regular spatial Alchemy Equipment would be strictly inspected when passing through city gates or during interrogations. But his was a Talent solidified in the depths of his soul; conventional Magic couldn’t detect the slightest trace of it.
At this thought, Lance couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
If he was ever unlucky enough to encounter an overwhelmingly powerful enemy he couldn’t possibly fight...
...when forced into a hopeless, life-or-death situation, he could just decide to take them down with him.
After all, he had his Resurrection Talent as a safety net. Under the terrifying might of ten thousand bombs detonating in a simultaneous Suicide Bombing, as long as his enemy hadn’t reached the Extraordinary Tier, they would likely be wiped out in one go by the torrent of explosions.
He decided to strike while the iron was hot. The Stamina Potion he’d just drunk was still suffusing his body with abundant Energy.
Since acquiring the Imaginary Number Dark Grid hadn’t consumed any Energy for physical modification, this surplus could be used to extract a Talent from another entry in the Demon Atlas.
[Analyzing target’s genes... Converting to human-adaptive Talent...]
[Solidifying Racial Talent for you: Gorging Extraction (White)]
[Effect: Your maximum Constitution Attribute is increased by 1. Your digestive system and dietary range will undergo a profound and expansive mutation. You can now directly consume high-energy substances that were once inedible, such as Magic Energy Crystals or the raw flesh of high-energy Demons. Your stomach will instantly and violently break them down, converting them into pure Life Force to rapidly heal physical injuries.]
The sensation of this Talent extraction was completely different from the last one.
Lance could clearly feel his already resilient physique grow even stronger.
The most immediate change, however, was in his abdomen.
His stomach now felt like a raging Melting Furnace. He even had the absurd notion that he could swallow a solid rock and his stomach acid would forcibly digest it.
Without hesitation, Lance pulled a faintly glowing Magic Energy Crystal from his pocket. He tossed it into his mouth, chewed a few times, and swallowed.
He carefully focused on the sensation as the Magic Energy Crystal entered his stomach and began to rapidly digest.
A steady stream of warm Energy soon generated in his abdomen before spreading throughout his body via his bloodstream.
Lance rubbed his stomach. It felt like this miraculous sensation could completely replace the need to eat to stave off hunger.
As for healing, he had no significant injuries at the moment, so he couldn’t test the Talent’s restorative effects.
But simply being able to drastically expand his diet—using the ubiquitous Magic Energy Crystals to sate his hunger—meant that if he ever got trapped in a harsh, resource-deprived region, he could survive on them for a very long time.
’Looks like I can’t take all the tiny Magic Energy Crystals I farm to the Black Market for cash anymore,’ he thought. ’I need to hoard some in the Imaginary Number Dark Grid as emergency rations.’
