Who Says I'm Not a Proper Adventurer?
Chapter 251: Night of Melting Snow: The Fall of the Snow Woman
Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Night of Melting Snow: The Fall of the Snow Woman
Of course, Lance knew this full well.
He knew that earning such a huge sum in just a few short hours was entirely thanks to the Demon Tide and increased drop rates from the Crown Buff during the period of the Summer Crown.
Under the normal rhythm of hunting during an ordinary season...
...earning this much money in the Underground City in one go would probably take a significant amount of time.
As Lance sat on the edge of his bed counting the loose Silver Coins in his hand...
...he suddenly felt a distinct feedback from the biography contract sigil he had signed with Bazzer.
The feedback was telling him that the permission to submit an event had, surprisingly, become available.
This meant that at some point today in the Underground City, he had indeed completed an event that the Star Realm Law deemed to have widespread propagation value.
This was somewhat unexpected for Lance.
Although he couldn’t be sure which event had been successfully recognized, he figured it was, in all likelihood, the time he used his Aura to trigger that small-scale Demon Tide.
Since he had permission, he closed his eyes and mentally reached out to the glowing contract sigil, preparing to package the event he had triggered and submit it to the long-waiting Bazzer.
The moment he confirmed the submission...
...an unexpected system prompt popped up directly on his retina.
[You are using a Star Realm ability: Event Submission.]
[Affected by the laws of the special Source Material "Foreigner" (partially unlocked)...]
[The propagation of this event in the Material Realm is increased by an additional 100%.]
Looking at this prompt, Lance’s eyes widened, his mouth slightly agape.
’Is there really such a thing as a free lunch?’
Previously, during the Heroic Spirit Baptism in White River City, this mysterious "Foreigner" Source Material had already brought him immense benefits.
He hadn’t expected that it could even directly double the propagation effect for something related to spreading his renown.
Of course, Lance had complete trust in this special Source Material he carried.
After all, the Source Material represented him. Who would idly scheme to harm themselves?
After finishing the submission, he got up, walked over to the worn-out desk, and sat down.
He took a thick book of reference materials from his canvas backpack, one that Bazzer had lent him yesterday.
It contained a great deal of Knowledge about the Professional Level System, and he planned to pull an all-nighter to read it from cover to cover and brush up on his general knowledge.
However,
just as he excitedly opened the book, before he could even make out the first two lines of text...
...a terrible, unannounced wave of sleepiness suddenly washed over his mind.
His eyelids instantly grew as heavy as lead, impossible to keep open.
’Something’s not right!’
This sudden drowsiness was definitely not from physical fatigue. It was more like something was forcefully pulling at him on a spiritual level.
In the final second before his consciousness faded to black, he vaguely realized something dreadful.
’I think Yvette is angry!’
The thought had barely flashed through his mind before Lance completely lost control of his body, slumping forward and planting his head heavily on the desk, his eyes shutting for good.
...
「At the same time.」
In another inn within the Underground City’s encampment,
Bazzer was carefully organizing the various events he had collected from different areas during the day, illuminated by the bright Magic Crystal Lamp on his desk.
But suddenly,
he felt a notification from the contract sigil on the back of his hand.
He froze for a moment, then understood.
It was Lance, the one who had just signed the contract yesterday. He had already met the conditions to submit an event.
’Isn’t this a bit too fast?’
An event directly acknowledged by the stringent Star Realm Law for its propagation value had to be a major event with great appeal.
Full of anticipation, he leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, and extended his Spiritual Power to receive the information packet the Star Realm was sending him.
This was a unique method of information transfer, protected by the Law.
The Star Realm could automatically convert a contractor’s true deeds into a highly condensed packet of information and deliver it precisely into the Recorder’s mind.
However, to protect privacy, this information packet did not contain first-person visuals of what happened.
Instead, it conveyed the process and outcome of the event through a method akin to conceptual infusion, cramming it directly into his mind so he could instantly grasp the full picture.
However,
after the overjoyed Bazzer finished receiving the contents of the information packet,
the expectant smile on his face instantly froze.
Then,
his expression slowly shifted from shock to deep suspicion. He even began to wonder if the Star Realm Law had made some kind of error while transmitting the information.
Unconvinced, he closed his eyes and forced himself to review the information packet twice more.
The contents remained completely unchanged.
Bazzer swallowed hard, his face pale.
He stiffly turned his head to look at his daughter, who was happily playing with a wooden toy on the nearby bed.
"Lilia."
Bazzer’s voice even trembled slightly.
"Are you sure that Brother Lance... will really become a Hero?"
Lilia heard her father’s strange question.
She immediately dropped her toy and stood up on the soft bed.
"Yes! Brother Lance is definitely a Hero, a super-duper Hero!"
The little girl didn’t hesitate for a moment.
She threw her hands up, drawing a large circle above her head in an exaggerated gesture for "really, really big."
Looking into his daughter’s clear and certain eyes,
Bazzer took a deep breath, as if he had made a momentous decision.
"Alright, then. Daddy will believe you unconditionally this time."
Although on a rational level, Bazzer still found the information in his mind to be unbelievably absurd,
he ultimately chose to trust his daughter’s never-wrong Spiritual Vision Talent.
He turned around and took an expensive quill and an inkwell from his breast pocket.
He spread a fresh sheet of parchment on the desk, took a deep breath, and began to rack his brain for the right wording and phrasing for his first draft.
Once this draft was finalized, it would be sent through the exclusive propagation channel built in the Star Realm by the god Mercurial for Minstrels, at the cost of his Divine Power.
It would be transmitted instantly to the Minstrel headquarters in White River Province for approval.
But as he wrote, his wrist trembled slightly.
He even began to wonder, ’Will the draft of the biography I’m writing based on this information really not get rejected when I hand it to my editor-in-chief?’
In the end, his gaze hardened with resolve.
’I have to trust my daughter!’
He then picked up his quill and began to write the title of the first draft.
*Night of Melting Snow: The Fall of the Snow Woman*
That’s right! This was the content transmitted to him in the Star Realm’s information packet. It was that ridiculous.
[Darkness, the Underground City, an encounter...]
What Bazzer wrote next seemed absurd even to himself.
[The Snow Lady felt an unprecedentedly intense stimulation...]
Bazzer could never have imagined that everything transmitted to him had been completely distorted by the [Source Material: Foreigner]. Perhaps it was all true, but the information packet had been "artistically embellished" after transmission.
Originally, the pain Nieve suffered from her Sensory Overload injuries during the battle was twisted by the information packet into:
["It hurts... It hurts so much..." The Snow Lady couldn’t bear the intense pain and let out a whimper.]
The information about Lance leading the Snow Lady to escape the Demon Tide was twisted into:
[The violent jolting, the heavy panting in her ear, the countless pursuing eyes behind them—it all combined to create a sense of forbidden excitement.]
The information about Lance feeding the Snow Lady dessert in the tavern was also completely distorted. While it was still about eating dessert, the phrasing seemed extremely suggestive:
[She swallowed all the sweet frosting, unconsciously seeking the last lingering trace of the man’s flavor.]
And because he couldn’t see the actual events and could only piece together information from the packet sent by the Star Realm, Bazzer could only concoct a story that was absurd enough to match.
