Chapter 340: Chapter 273: I Deserve All This

“Oh~ Jenny! Since you asked, I have to tell you all about it…”

After rambling on for several minutes, recounting a few memorable stories about her fans, she tilted her chin up slightly and continued to boast:

“You should know, even if I live to be your age, this is something I will always remember.

“You see, there aren’t many people in the world as fortunate as me, to receive so much sincere love and affection all at once.

“If someone asked me whether I’d rather be the president or an actress, I’d tell them that if I get to be this kind of actress, I’d want to be one in my next life, too!

“In my hometown, we have a saying for being so flattered you’re almost in shock. Do you know that feeling? That was my exact reaction when I first heard about it.

“Oh~ It was either I had gone crazy and was hallucinating, or the world itself had gone mad! Something strange was happening!

“And I’m not exaggerating when I say…”

After holding it in for so long, finally getting a chance to pour her heart out made Ni Bingyan feel utterly refreshed.

“Oh~ Ni Bingyan! You must be a truly wonderful person! You deserve it! The only reason they’d be willing to treat you this way is because you deserve it!”

Jenny’s mind hadn’t gone fuzzy with age. With her life experience, she was more than a match for Ni Bingyan, who wouldn’t stand a chance against her even if she’d lived a whole other life.

Finding Ni Bingyan’s stories interesting, she listened attentively, chiming in at just the right moments with, “And then?”

When she got excited, she would even clap with delight.

Other than that, she never once interrupted her.

Who could possibly resist that?

Ni Bingyan had been carrying these feelings in her heart for a long time, dying to brag about them to someone. But Chinese culture values a kind of subtle beauty, and boasting would get her labeled as conceited and lacking humility. Now that the floodgates were open, there was no stopping her!

“Oh~ Jenny! You’re such a sweet angel! Just listen to the things you say! It’s so therapeutic!

“I admit I’m a pretty good person, but I still have a lot of room for improvement!

“Did you know? My fans want me to win an Oscar for Best Actress! I have to work so hard to make that happen before they all get old and pass away!

“You know it’s not just about talent, it’s also about luck and connections. I might not even be able to do it before I leave this world! Ugh! Just thinking about it makes me feel so helpless!”

“Oh, sweetie! Don’t be so discouraged! You’re still so young. You have to believe that the future is full of infinite possibilities!”

“I know, right? That’s what I think too! You have to live life boldly and aim high!

“I’m not afraid to say it, even if people laugh. In our line of work, who hasn’t dreamed of winning an Oscar? At least I have the guts to admit it. Some people don’t even have the courage to say it out loud! Hmph!”

The more the two of them talked, the more they hit it off, even exchanging contact information.

“I must spend the rest of my life witnessing your progress and success! I’m surely your oldest fan now, so you have to work hard! Don’t make me wait too long!”

“I’ll definitely work hard! Just you wait and see!”

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Ni Bingyan turned off her mic partway through the latter half of their conversation.

Back home, she always had to think carefully before speaking, afraid of being misinterpreted or having her words taken out of context. But abroad, meeting an older woman she could click with who didn’t even know who she was—it was simply perfect!

‘Young people should act their age! You have to have great ambitions!’

‘Youth is wasted if you’re not a little wild!’

She thought she’d cut her mic at the perfect time, but she had no idea that because of today’s complex recording environment, Pei Jin had already made multiple contingency plans. He had arranged for a staff member to sit in the row behind her to prevent any mic malfunctions from affecting the shoot.

It wasn’t like they could reshoot something like this, so Pei Jin felt it was necessary to be cautious.

He had forgotten to mention it in the morning rush, and Ni Bingyan hadn’t bothered to look behind her. When the game was thirty minutes in, Ni Bingyan got up to use the restroom. She turned around and saw a familiar-looking young man giving her a smile that screamed, “I am very trustworthy.” She almost coughed up a lung!

Although she and the old woman had been speaking English mixed with some French, it wasn’t exactly an exotic language. Anyone with a translator could figure it out.

If word of what she’d said got out, she’d be a laughingstock for sure!

“Sister Fuling, if I hadn’t come along to film this show with her, I would have always thought she was a very humble person.”

The Iron Triangle’s seats weren’t far from Ni Bingyan, and with the high-quality sound equipment, they had heard every single thing she said loud and clear.

All three had grown up with an elite education and had been learning foreign languages since elementary school, so they had no trouble understanding what Ni Bingyan was saying.

Glancing at Ni Bingyan’s face, which was flushed pink with excitement, Wang Xi blushed, covered her mouth, and whispered into Song Fuling’s ear.

Sigh. She was getting embarrassed from all the praise herself.

“Haha, look at that proud expression on her face, it’s so cute! She must have been dying to brag about this for a while now! The contrast is adorable!”

Song Fuling was very happy too.

Growing up, she had done many good deeds, but she doubted if even half of the recipients still remembered her kindness, let alone praised her for it in front of others.

“I’ve already thought of the trending hashtags for her: #UltimateDream, #HappiestPersonInTheWorld, #TheyreTooGoodToMe…”

Pei Jin approached things from a different angle than the two women.

“What do you think would happen if I took a few clips from this recording and used them in the teaser trailer?”

The two women stared at him in unison. “Can you just be a decent person for once and release a normal trailer? Do you enjoy getting flamed online or something?”

Wang Xi was even more indignant. “The other day, we got dragged into the flaming with you, and it was awful! I went home and my grandma kept hounding me, asking what on earth Bingbing did on the last episode. It gave me such a headache!”

“I think it’s best if we discuss this with Sister Wei first, to prevent her public image from collapsing.”

Many of Wang Xi’s family members worked in the entertainment industry, so she had seen too many similar incidents growing up.

“A public image? Has our Bingbao ever even had one of those?”

“PFFT! Sister Fuling, you’re too savage!”

The three of them weren’t particularly interested in the soccer match. Having gotten carried away by their conversation, they just huddled together and kept gossiping about Ni Bingyan.

And you know what? Just like movies and popcorn are a great match, gossiping about Ni Bingyan while watching a soccer game was also strangely fitting!

“Thirty-eight minutes into the match, the Blue Army has finally scored! The score is now 0-1! That couldn’t have been easy! Truly, not easy at all!”

The stadium suddenly erupted into a sea of joy, and only then did the chatting trio realize a goal had been scored.

After the celebration, the match resumed. Before the three of them could find a new topic of conversation, they saw a young player from the red team send the ball flying into the stands with a powerful kick.

Everything happened extremely fast, yet it also seemed to unfold in slow motion.

Ni Bingyan saw the spinning ball fly toward them, striking the side of Jenny’s face before ricocheting toward her own.

Ni Bingyan immediately reached out and caught the ball, hugging it to her chest.

“Remember, I want front-row season tickets! And that ball you’re holding!”

Before she fainted, Jenny gripped Ni Bingyan’s hand tightly. “This is what I deserve!”
