Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 270 - 204: What’s the Matter?
With Grandma Xu’s plan finalized, Grandpa Xu couldn’t think of a better idea. He gave up on his own and, swallowing his pride, offered to help her make the wedding flawless.
Grandma Xu immediately agreed.
In truth, when she proposed the plan, she had also hoped her old man would join in, but she had been too embarrassed to ask.
To make it convenient for the younger generations in the community to return and attend, the wedding was specially scheduled for this Saturday.
Since it was a rare happy occasion for the community, and Grandma Xu adamantly refused to accept any gifts, the homeowners decided to pool their money and hire a professional wedding planning company to decorate the entire neighborhood.
With a large sum of money poured into the event, the community began to be festively decorated starting Friday.
Considering the couple’s age, this wedding might be the last major celebration of their lives. That, combined with the generous payment, meant the wedding planning company took the job extremely seriously and dispatched a large team of staff.
To prevent outsiders from sneaking in, the security team was on standby at all times, their eyes scanning like searchlights.
The wedding planning company often handled jobs for wealthy families and knew the protocol. Each staff member wore an access pass with their photo around their neck and moved in pairs, never wandering off alone.
The community’s homeowners were very satisfied with this and collectively decided to give a bigger tip.
As someone with little experience in romance, Ni Bingyan couldn’t come up with any good romantic ideas, so she could only offer to help with the manual labor.
Because of her superb makeup skills, over the past year or so, whenever there was an event in the community and she was around, everyone was happy to ask her to help with their makeup.
On the day of Grandma Xu’s anniversary, everyone needed their makeup done, and Ni Bingyan obviously couldn’t handle it all by herself.
Granny Liao hired a professional hair and makeup team to provide on-site services, so Ni Bingyan would only need to do Grandma Xu’s makeup.
When people get older, their skin condition changes, and doing their makeup requires special techniques.
Being the perfectionist that she was, Ni Bingyan had been pestering Chen Daolin for the past two days to teach her, all in pursuit of a flawless result.
Chen Daolin found it hard to explain things clearly over video, so on Saturday, he simply showed up early in the morning with his wife and child and took the job off her hands.
Not only that, but he also brought many beautiful outfits for Grandma Xu to choose from.
Grandma Xu was naturally delighted. She thanked Ni Bingyan repeatedly, praising her for being such a good child to have specially arranged all of this for her.
"Hehehe~ Brother Chen, you’re the best."
Ni Bingyan had been pestering Chen Daolin for advice only because she wasn’t confident enough in her own skills and was afraid of ruining Grandma Xu’s diamond wedding anniversary. Since Chen Daolin no longer made house calls, she felt she had no other choice.
Chen Daolin rolled his eyes and completely ignored her.
He just had that kind of proud, standoffish personality. Having worked with him many times, Ni Bingyan knew him well and didn’t get angry.
Seeing him get busy, Ni Bingyan took the initiative to entertain his wife and child.
It was quite a curiosity—for a short man like Chen Daolin to have a wife who was nearly five-foot-seven.
His daughter was only a few years old but was already almost up to his shoulder.
’I wonder how those two ended up together?’
’Once we get to know each other better, I’ll have to get the gossip.’
"Come on, Little Lingdang, let’s go play at Auntie’s house!"
To ensure the flowers were fresh enough, a large part of the wedding venue in the small plaza had to be decorated on the day of the event.
The staff was a whirlwind of activity, and fearing a child might get hurt in the chaos, all the families kept their children at home.
’Chen Daolin came to help me, so of course I have to take good care of his wife and child.’
Ni Bingyan was quite conscientious about it.
Chen Daolin’s wife was named Li Dan. She was once a famous figure skater, and even though she had been retired for many years, she still had a great figure and stunning looks.
Because she loved fishing just like Ni Bingyan, the two had become friends after meeting just twice, so getting along now wasn’t difficult.
"It’s so hot, I really don’t want to go anywhere."
Li Dan was from Bing City and didn’t like hot weather. Seeing Ni Bingyan hold an umbrella for her, she quickly smiled and declined.
It was just a few steps away; she didn’t want to be a bother.
"It’s good to get out and visit sometimes. Otherwise, Little Lingdang will be starting school again in a few days."
Little Lingdang had never been to this area before and was a little curious about the surroundings, so Ni Bingyan quietly told her about them.
The three of them chatted as they arrived at Ni Bingyan’s house. When Little Lingdang saw Wangcai, her eyes immediately lit up!
Ni Bingyan prepared some fruit, then took out her treasured movie collection and asked if they wanted to watch something.
The mother and daughter found her living room especially comfortable, so they didn’t stand on ceremony and immediately picked a movie they liked to watch.
To the people of this community, Grandma Xu’s diamond anniversary might just be a chance for old neighbors of several decades to celebrate together. But to outsiders, it was an excellent social occasion.
Because the second and third generations of Yayuan’s families would all be returning for this special wedding today, it was a great opportunity for the Chen Family to expand their social circle.
Otherwise, Chen Daolin wouldn’t have come out for a job and brought his wife and child along.
Little Lingdang was young; she couldn’t watch a movie for long before losing interest.
When she was a child, Ni Bingyan had helped the director of her orphanage take care of many kids, so she was very experienced with children. She put on a movie that Li Dan liked and took Little Lingdang upstairs to play.
With snacks, drinks, and a comfortable place to enjoy a high-definition classic from a treasured collection, Li Dan was having a very pleasant time at Ni Bingyan’s house.
Ni Bingyan played games with Little Lingdang, making her GIGGLE from time to time.
’A pretty little girl like her is just so adorable!’
’Before she transmigrated, Ni Bingyan had even been planning to buy sperm to have a child; she really loved kids.’
Having a unique father like Chen Daolin, Little Lingdang was a very perceptive person.
Who genuinely liked her and who was just trying to get close to her dad by fawning over her—despite being only a few years old, she could see it all clearly.
She liked this Auntie because, unlike other female celebrities, she wasn’t affected and hypocritical, looking down on her dad while still wanting him to do their styling.
Ni Bingyan’s genuine affection for her couldn’t be faked, so she had a wonderful time playing at Ni Bingyan’s house!
It was rare to have a child over, so Wangcai was also very excited. He played games with Little Lingdang and would let out an excited WOOF every now and then.
By the time everything was ready, the wedding venue at the small plaza was also set up.
Seeing that the auspicious time had arrived, the three of them changed their clothes and went to the venue to meet up with Chen Daolin.
During the wedding, as the love story of this elderly couple, who had been together for the better part of their lives, was told, Ni Bingyan couldn’t help but shed tears several times.
Sang Yuan was beside her, constantly handing her handkerchiefs.
To prevent her from smudging her makeup, he even held up a small mirror for her to use while wiping her tears, leaving Ni Bingyan not knowing whether to laugh or cry!
"Don’t be envious. When we get to their age, we’ll also invite all our friends and family and have a diamond anniversary celebration!"
Ni Bingyan shot him a sidelong glance. "Then you’ll have to live to be a hundred."
Sang Yuan looked at her pitifully, just like a wronged Wangcai.
"You’re only willing to marry me in ten years? I must be doing something wrong. I have to change it immediately! Sigh! What kind of flaw is it, to be getting in the way of me marrying my wife? You’re the smartest one; help me figure it out, will you?"
Ni Bingyan was long used to his endless stream of flirty nonsense. She let out a "Pfft!" and ignored him.
After the wedding, there was a sumptuous lunch at Grandpa Xu’s house.
They had hired a chef from a five-star hotel to cook on-site. Since last night, all sorts of fragrant aromas had been wafting through the community. When the dishes were finally served, they were truly exceptional!
Since most of the guests at the wedding were elderly and among friends and family, there was no need for formal schmoozing. Most people didn’t drink much and just happily found people they knew to eat with.
Ni Bingyan, of course, sat with Chen Daolin’s family and the Sang family members at one table.
Sang Yuan’s nephew was a cheerful boy who kept trying to play with Little Lingdang, causing Chen Daolin to glance nervously at his daughter from time to time.
Seeing this, Sang Mu couldn’t help but cover her mouth and giggle.
They were both in the same circle, so she and Chen Daolin knew each other. She never expected him to be such a doting father in private.
Seeing the scene, Sang Yuan’s teasing impulse stirred again. He poked Ni Bingyan’s arm and leaned close to her ear.
"With our looks, I think our daughter would definitely be even cuter!"
In front of the elders, Ni Bingyan couldn’t tell him off. Instead, she maintained her smile, reached for his waist, and gave it a light twist!
Sang Yuan’s smile immediately stiffened.
"You’re murdering your own husband!"
"Auntie said this is your family’s heirloom technique. She told me to practice it a lot and make sure I master it!"
Ni Bingyan looked completely innocent, blinking her big, watery eyes at him.
Sang Yuan was caught between love and exasperation, wishing he could just grab her and kiss her senseless.
Seeing the two of them teasing each other as if no one else was around, the others simply pretended not to notice, though smiles touched all of their lips.
After eating and drinking their fill, everyone headed back to their own homes. The weather was hot, and it was time for an afternoon nap.
Chen Daolin’s family insisted on leaving, despite being urged to stay. Ni Bingyan couldn’t persuade them otherwise and had to see them out of the community.
After the Chen family of three left, she started walking back with Sang Yuan under the shade of the trees.
For the community’s safety, the security team had built several security booths. As the two of them passed one, they heard two guards inside exclaim, "Oh man! That’s brutal!"
Hearing something like that on such a joyous day, Ni Bingyan couldn’t help but be curious. She leaned in and asked, "What’s going on?"
She had always loved a bit of excitement; she had even ended up on the trending topics more than once just for being a spectator.
Sang Yuan knew this quirk of hers. He didn’t say anything, just quietly accompanied her to the front of the security booth.
