Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom
Chapter 241 - 189: Gift and Thank-you Gift (Part 2)
"Mmm, this is nice."
"Oh, I still have something to do, so maybe..."
"Ni Bingyan, my friends are going fishing and having a picnic at Baiyun Reservoir tomorrow. They’re all bringing their partners. Do you want to go with me?"
He’d long wanted to introduce Ni Bingyan to his friends, but she had never agreed.
Ni Bingyan froze on the spot. Sang Yuan stood in the field, separated from her by a row of blueberries, nervously gripping the handle of his hoe.
Seeing her already flushed cheeks grow even redder, and a mix of joy and apprehension flash in her eyes, Sang Yuan tossed the hoe aside, vaulted right over the blueberry bushes, and lifted her up!
"Tomorrow I’m bringing my girlfriend, and the day after, my wi—"
"Wife, my ass! Put me down!! It’s not happening that fast!!"
’This guy is unbelievable!’
She thought he was being quiet because he didn’t understand what she meant, but it turns out he’d already skipped the dating phase and moved on to marriage in his mind!
She honestly suspected that if she suddenly asked him what they should name their future kids, he’d blurt out an answer without a second thought.
"I’m not letting you go! I won’t! I’ll never let you go, not for the rest of my life! Hahaha!"
As he spun her around like a madman, Ni Bingyan was starting to get dizzy!
She was both annoyed and wanted to laugh at the same time. The feeling was so strange!
’What kind of cheesy drama scene is this?!’
’If a screenwriter wrote something this cheesy, she wouldn’t even accept the script!’
After what felt like an eternity, a dizzy Sang Yuan finally set her down.
They both plopped onto the ground. To each other, the other person was still swaying.
The blueberries that had scattered all over the ground were now stuck to their butts. When the wet, sticky sensation registered, Ni Bingyan’s eyes shot wide open!
"AHHH! You’re going to be the death of me!"
She’d been absentmindedly picking berries and had filled half a basket without even realizing it. But then this guy picked her up, and with one spin, they scattered everywhere. Now they were being stepped on and sat on... it was a disaster!
And she was wearing white pants today!
Blushing, Ni Bingyan ran into the house, her footsteps thundering up the stairs—THUMP THUMP THUMP—and locked the master bedroom door from the inside.
When she didn’t hear any footsteps outside, her legs gave out, and she slid down the door to sit on the floor.
"Oh, my..."
Her face was burning hot. Ni Bingyan cupped her cheeks in her hands, her mind racing. One moment she wanted to laugh, the next she wanted to cry. After a long while, she finally climbed to her feet, found her phone, opened her private social media account, and stealthily posted an update:
[Oh my god! A boyfriend! A real, live one! AHHHHH!]
After posting the update, she couldn’t help but throw herself onto the bed and roll around.
Once she’d had her fill of rolling around, she sat up. Seeing the blueberry seeds and skins stuck to the comforter, and then looking down at the juice stains on her white pants, she was once again on the verge of a meltdown.
"AHH!!! I just changed these sheets!!"
Just as she got her emotions under control and resignedly pulled out a fresh set of sheets and a duvet cover to change them again, she heard someone shouting from below her window: "Girlfriend! Girlfriend! My girlfriend!"
Ni Bingyan’s face flushed red again.
This time, it was from embarrassment.
’He was such a smart person. Love might make you stupid, but it shouldn’t drop your IQ into the negatives, right?’
She tried to ignore him, but he just kept shouting and jumping around, raising a racket downstairs.
Even Wangcai was woken up by the commotion. He emerged from his doghouse in the front yard and began circling Sang Yuan’s legs, barking "WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!"
Fuming, Ni Bingyan threw open the window and leaned out. She first glanced outside the yard to make sure no one was passing by, then lowered her head to look at him:
"What on earth are you doing?"
"Hehehe, I’m giving you a present in return! There’s no sense in giving a gift and not accepting one back, is there? Hurry, hurry! It’s our anniversary! We have to celebrate it!"
Seeing the small box in his hand and that he was about to toss it up to her, Ni Bingyan quickly stopped him. "Wait! I’ll come down and get it! Don’t break it!"
It would be too embarrassing to invite him upstairs. It was better for her to go down instead.
When she got downstairs, Sang Yuan handed her a box. She opened it to find two simple platinum rings inside, engraved with their names on the inner bands.
"Here, put it on. Our love is unbreakable."
Seeing her hesitate, Sang Yuan added, "I bought a ten-carat pink diamond at an auction last year. I originally wanted to have it set into a ring for you, but I knew you’d never accept it, so I decided to keep it. It can be part of our daughter’s dowry!"
Ni Bingyan immediately slipped the ring onto her finger. Then, she snatched up the large broom from the corner and, laughing uncontrollably, started swatting him with it until he was out of the house.
Staring at the closed courtyard gate, Sang Yuan scrambled up the wall, grabbed hold of the metal fence, and peered over.
He saw Ni Bingyan standing just inside the gate, dazedly holding out her hand to gaze at the simple ring, and couldn’t help but roar with laughter.
Hearing the noise, Ni Bingyan raised her broom, looking like she was about to leap up and swat him on the head. Sang Yuan hastily jumped down from the wall, tossing back one final line:
