Chapter 1196: Take Down the Sacred Beast!

"Then, it's my turn again."

Everyone paused.

For some reason, even in a three-versus-one, when Goodwin declared his turn, everyone still felt a wave of pressure. Goodwin... he had that sort of presence.

"My turn. Draw."

Kira calmly drew his card.

"Once again, I activate Phantom of Chaos's effect. Once per turn, I can target any Effect Monster in my graveyard and gain its name and effect. This time, I'll copy 'Raviel, Lord of Phantasms'!"

The final Sacred Beast. Energy overflowed from the grave, pouring into Phantom of Chaos. Its body shook violently as dark ooze began to form into a huge body, filling the field with pressure.

Crow: "The last Sacred Beast is coming!?"

But Yusei quickly interrupted, "I activate my set card—trap 'Memory Loss'! When an opponent's attack position monster activates its effect, negate that effect and switch it to defense!"

He pointed at the Phantom.

"Negate Phantom of Chaos's effect and switch it to defense position!"

The black sludge froze, collapsing back into a formless pile.

"Nice one, Yusei!" Crow cheered. "Phantom of Chaos can only use its effect once per turn—if it's negated, it can't copy any monster this turn! Problem solved!"

"As expected of Yusei," Kira nodded. "Always ready for Phantom of Chaos."

"Then, I'll activate Monster Reincarnation. I discard a card to retrieve a monster from my grave."

Kira placed a card in the grave, another one returned to his hand.

"I add 'Raviel, Lord of Phantasms' from my graveyard to my hand."

Everyone went on alert when he revealed the card.

Calling back Raviel meant Goodwin was choosing another approach—was he going to summon it directly?

"I Normal Summon Phantom Skyblaster."

[Phantom Skyblaster, ATK 1100]

"When Phantom Skyblaster is Summoned, it can bring out Skyblaster Tokens equal to the number of monsters I control."

Kira gestured.

"I have two monsters—Phantom Skyblaster and Phantom of Chaos—so I Special Summon two Skyblaster Tokens."

Sensing danger, Yusei warned, "Be careful! Here it comes!"

Sure enough—

"I tribute both Skyblaster Tokens and Phantom Skyblaster—three monsters!"

Kira raised his arm high. For a second, it was as if red lightning split the sky and the whole field vibrated.

"This Sacred Beast cannot be Normal Summoned—it can only be Special Summoned by tributing three monsters!" (anime effect)

Raviel, Lord of Phantasms. In the TCG, you must tribute three Fiends, making it stricter, and it's not as strong in real duels. But in the anime, since his monsters were already Fiends, it made no difference.

"Now, let the triple altar's flames burn away lies—The final Sacred Beast appears!

Raviel, Lord of Phantasms!"

Purple mist poured from a fissure in space, three pairs of bone claws splitting the sky, and as Raviel emerged, a storm swept the field.

A gigantic demon god—dark cobalt armor streaked with flowing magma, swirling purple energy beneath the surface, enormous bone wings spread so wide they seemed to block the sky. The air seemed to buzz with the sense of a nightmare come true.

With the Sacred Beast out, the entire field shuddered.

Leo trembled, "What is that? Is that even a monster?"

Even Jack was rattled: "Such power... what is that?"

A bead of cold sweat appeared on Yusei's face—he felt the pressure too.

"Fallen Paradise's effect again," Kira noted. "With a Sacred Beast, I draw two more cards."

Kira drew.

"Raviel, Lord of Phantasms, attack Junk Warrior!"

Raviel's massive right arm surged, bone wings pulled back, punching so hard that space seemed to ripple. Junk Warrior was about to be destroyed, but Yusei's eyes sparkled:

"This is what I was waiting for!"

"Oh?" Kira murmured.

Yusei quickly played a card from his hand.

"I send 'Rush Warrior' from my hand to the grave. Its effect: When my Warrior-type Synchro Monster battles, I can send it from the hand to the grave to double its attack this turn!"

Hand traps are always hard to guard against. The 5DS era was the age of hand traps, and Yusei, as hand trap master, always had a response.

Crow cheered, "Nice one, Yusei! You planned that the moment you attacked with Junk Warrior, didn't you?"

Yusei only nodded seriously.

Rush Warrior's effect caused Junk Warrior's attack to double.
