Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1809 - 1062: Abyss’s Biggest Fan (2)
However, the flesh saturated by the abyss poses little threat to the soul-sucking ghosts, who also hail from the abyss.
Onora didn’t expect this attack to cause harm; she watched the exploding Gollum with an expression of realization, thinking, "So I can actually do this kind of thing."
Then, she clasped her hands together, and the pieces of flesh adhered to the soul-sucking ghosts rapidly expanded in defiance of the laws of matter conservation, forming dozens of arms similar to Onora’s own.
The soul-sucking ghosts were forcibly torn into pieces by these arms.
"The flesh has also been enhanced, hahaha, this is the abyss’s blessing!"
Originally, detaching flesh from Onora’s body was very difficult, but now it seemed particularly easy. Moreover, the other bodies that were eroded by the abyss could be considered her own flesh, allowing her to manipulate them.
This is much more useful than any flesh-controlling magic!
The soul-sucking ghosts around her instinctively retreated a few steps upon witnessing her strength, but were soon caught under Onora’s gaze.
It seemed there was nowhere to escape now.
By the time Onora finished experimenting on the soul-sucking ghosts with her newly acquired abilities, the Fran Undead Team had already cleared out the remaining ones, without losing a single member.
The scene had turned into a standoff between Onora and the Undead Team.
After the kill with the soul-sucking ghosts, Onora’s inner bloodlust code belonging to the Demon Clan was activated, and she was eager to face the Fran Undead Team.
"I’ve heard of the Fran Undead Team’s reputation for a long time; now I’ve finally met them in person."
Truly worthy of being the team created by the Fran Guard against the Demon Clan, both in skill and style, they were just as Onora had imagined. These people resembled the enemy she envisioned in the abyss, making the abyss appear more dignified.
If Onora could take down the Fran Undead Team, it would fully prove herself.
Thinking this, she actively summoned the Black Mud within her body, forming armor on her surface. With the true abyss, she no longer favored using the Black Mud she created, but it could still serve defensively.
Might as well test if the abyss enhances the Black Mud... uh!?
"Gah!"
Onora suddenly let out a painful cry, instinctively clutching her body, as if enduring some kind of torture.
Even as the Undead Team charged forward, she didn’t move, resulting in a pincer attack that shattered most of her armor, showing how Black Mud was inadequate on such a battlefield.
As the Black Mud was shattered, Onora’s body’s trembling visibly lessened; although the pain hadn’t disappeared entirely, she finally freed herself to move.
"Dammit..."
Onora leapt back in an attempt to create distance, but the Fran Undead Team gave her no room to retreat, relentlessly pursuing her.
She glared at the Fran Undead Team, suddenly grasping and shattering the Black Mud armor on her legs, enhancing her speed as she plunged into the forest.
Onora specifically chose places covered by the abyss to dodge, and focused on escaping, ultimately succeeding in eluding the Fran Undead Team’s chase.
Once she ensured there were no pursuers behind, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, crashing into a large tree ahead.
"Boom!"
The tree snapped and fell with a roar, successfully shattering the hardened Black Mud armor on Onora, liberating her from its constraints.
Staring at the scattered Black Mud fragments, her expression turned terribly grim, entirely devoid of the initial joy.
"What is going on..."
Was her body repelling the Black Mud she created?
Just as she had donned the Black Mud armor as usual earlier, her entire body felt as if it were being torn apart, in immense pain, causing her to be unable to move.
In hindsight, the Thunder Plow Hot Blade from the Fran Undead Team turned out to save her.
"What is going on?"
Onora repeated the question, puzzled by the abnormal changes of the Black Mud.
Was it because the abyss within her body was repelling the Black Mud? Hence, she suffered immense pain whenever using it.
Thinking along these lines, the shadow on her face suddenly vanished, replaced by a somewhat indulgent smile. She gently patted her body, murmuring to herself:
"Want to have me to yourself? Truly greedy."
An enormous amount of Black Mud immediately expelled from all over her body, transformed into rampaging waves, knocking over rows of trees. Afterwards, Onora mercifully granted them freedom to do as they pleased.
Without the supply of magic power, the Black Mud ceased moving after a few minutes of rampage, their existence gradually dissipating, ultimately turning into harmless air.
Onora completely depleted her internal reserve of Black Mud, although she could recreate it anytime.
Yet, since the abyss within her harbored such a strong sense of possession, how could she cheat on it?
She decided to spend her life happily intertwined with the abyss.
She felt no inclination to research or refine the Black Mud.
Today’s harvest was truly abundant, so much so that even heading back now, she would still feel bountiful. A pity she hadn’t yet formally confronted the Fran Undead Team; perhaps she should return for another look?
Onora surveyed the surroundings and suddenly noticed something different.
Behind the vast swath of trees toppled by the rampaging Black Mud, she noticed a space devoid of trees.
A clearing?
Such a place shouldn’t exist in Fran Fort; it should either be overgrown with trees or filled with swamps, occasionally showing some raised ground for safety.
And yet, Chrono and his team never found this place on their last visit to Fran Fort?
Curtiously, Onora approached the clearing.
To her amazement, it was a terrain with about three to four hundred square meters of uplifted ground, just high enough to avoid the swamp, also featuring remnants of a fortress similar in style to Fran Fort’s buildings, though precarious and seemingly dangerous.
In a normal area, such a clearing might seem small, but in this cursed place like Fran Fort, it was extremely precious, already akin to a piece of pure land.
Moreover, Onora discovered the most noteworthy presence within this clearing.
A bonfire, of ordinary size, stood at the center, still unlit.
These phenomena made Onora recall the intelligence provided by spies—the sudden appearance of small bonfires and clearings in the life-type dungeon areas occupied in the Sain Dungeon. These factors combined almost explicitly stated:
This is a Small Safe Zone.
"Hmm..."
Gazing at the bonfire, Onora automatically forgot her earlier vow to not rely on the bonfire’s power, placing her hand upon it.
"Flame!"
The bonfire ignited, and the abyss within her subtly resisted, but before Onora had a chance to soothe the abyss, she felt an inexplicable connection forming between her and the bonfire—no, this Small Safe Zone. Something unseen linked them together.
As if indicating her ownership of this Small Safe Zone...
Suddenly, a flame divided from the bonfire, shot aggressively towards the sky, almost scorching Onora.
She watched as the flame soared higher and higher into the sky.
"Pop!"
Finally exploding like fireworks in the air.
Onora couldn’t help but display a peculiar expression.
Why, after exploding, did the fireworks...
In the sky, turn into her portrait?
